Villa in Ses Costes, Begur, Costa Brava, Hillside Location With Magnificent Panoramic Sea Views, Short Drive To Aquablava Beach

Las Velas was totally refurbished in 2010/11 using the best quality materials and includes air conditioning throughout the property and an elevator giving access to 3 levels of the house. The house is light and spacious with magnificent sea views from all principal rooms, terraces and pool area. Large living room has magnificent open fire. Situated on the hillside in the prestigious residential area of Ses Costes in a quiet no through road, the house overlooks the beautiful turquoise waters of Aquablava and its beach. It is suitable for a large family with staff or for 2 families sharing having 6 double bedrooms, 6 bath/shower rooms (4 en-suite). Within this there are 2 self-contained units each sleeping 2 with their own en suite facilities and kitchenettes. 2 of the bedrooms have private terraces overlooking the sea. Beautiful terraced gardens lead down to the heated pool (heating charged per week POA) with its own substantial terraces, covered dining/barbecue area, fully fitted kitchen, shower and wc.

We fell in love with the view from the house- which is just incredible, whatever the weather. It never ceases to fill me with wonder every time I arrive at the house.The area has so many fantastic restaurants to cater for all budgets. The beaches are beautiful, whether you want tiny aquamarine coves or long sandy beaches, as at Pals.

Notes on accommodation: All the bedrooms have sea views with the exception of bedroom 5 which has a sea view from its own private terrace and sitting room on the upper level. The house sleeps 12 people very comfortably. Outside: Las Velas is set in a beautiful terraced and landscaped garden leading to the swimming pool area. Here is a barbecue/covered dining area, fully fitted kitchen, wc and shower room with dining table and chairs for 12. The pool is 18m long with a very shallow end with steps, and then slopes to a depth of 2m. Not suitable for diving. The salt pool is heated. A semi circular seating area at one end of the pool seats 12 and has a retractable sail cloth. Sun beds/recliners for 12. There are many terraces around the garden in which to sit and enjoy the views. The main bedroom has its own terrace as does bedroom 5. Off the dining room is a large partially shaded terrace with barbecue and seating for 12. This is truly magical area from which to admire the breathtaking panorama of the Mediterranean. Parking is provided either in the garage (one car) or on the parking platform at the side of the house, for 4 further cars. Utility Room: Washing Machine Tumble Dryer Iron and Ironing Board Sink Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, bath, beach towels and welcome pack included in price. For a 2 week rental, a mid-stay maid service and fresh linen is provided. Additional cleaning, shopping service and babysitting can be arranged at guests' cost. Other: Separate sitting room at the top of the house accessed by spiral staircase from Bedroom 5, with kitchenette, sofa bed, table and chairs.

Arrived with some excitement as the elevated position meant the views would be breathtaking, indeed this proved to be so, with virtually a view unsurpassed from every room. The interior was equally magnificent, also certainly designed and furnished by a very competent interior designer, with no expense spared. There is a balcony running almost the length of the property equipped with a substandial gas barbecue.

The property was very clean with no surface untouched in the process. My family and friends found the property to be well equipped with quality fixtures and fittings one would expect from such a luxurious residence.

There is a pool with a fully fitted kitchen together with a shower and toilet. Ample loungers for every person and a large table for al fresco dining.

This area of the Costa Brava is spectacular with a rich variety of sandy bays and many restaurants catering for every taste and pocket.

I have no reservation in recommending this unrivalled villa.

Special interest holidays:

The northern Costa Brava contains a number of diving centres. The nearest is in Llafranc (10 minutes drive).

Coast/Beach:

The lovely sandy Aiguablava beach is less than 5 minutes drive away. There are a number of restaurants here. The sandy beaches of Llafranc, Tamariu and Sa Tuna are about 10 minutes drive away and these small bays are well provided with restaurants and beach bars. Speed boats can be hired in Llafranc and Tamariu. Licences/qualifications are normally required for this.

Travel:

Nearest airport is Girona (often called Barcelona Girona) approximately 45 minutes drive, serviced by Ryan Air. Perpignan (France) approximately 1 hour drive also serviced by Ryan Air and Flybe. Barcelona, approximately 2 hours away serviced by BA, Monarch, Easyjet and Ryan Air. Driving from Calais takes approximately 12 hours not including breaks (approx 800 miles). A car is essential to enjoy your holiday. Airport transfers by arrangement.

Palafrugell, Sa Tuna, Tamariu and Llafranc approx 10 minutes drive

Pals and Peretellada approx 15 minutes drive

Girona and Figueres approx 45 minutes drive

Shopping/eating out.

There is a small store less than 5 minutes drive away selling basic food stuffs. A large supermarket is 5 minutes drive away which sells fresh fruit and vegetables, wine and most domestic items. European newspapers are also available. The nearest town is Begur which is 5 minutes drive away where are cafes and restaurants, banks and shops. A larger town with a large market, fish market and many supermarkets, banks and shops (not open on Mondays) is Palafrugell, 10 minutes drive. The area is well provided with restaurants and cafes to suit all tastes and pockets. Details of those actually visited by the owners are provided in a visitors' book in the house.

Sightseeing.

There are many lovely medieval villages and towns nearby worth a visit. They include Pals and Peretellada both within approximately 15 minutes drive.

Historical sights.

40 minutes drive away are the Greek and Roman ruins of Emporda.

Gerona is a part Roman walled settlement and contains a beautiful historic Jewish quarter which was abandoned when the Jews were expelled from Spain in 1492. The two principal churches are worth a visit.

Art.

Salvador Dali's wife's house is about 30 minutes drive away at Pubol and it contains many original Dali works. The Dali museum is at Figueres a 45 minute drive away.

The art (Dali, Picasso, Miro, Gaudi and others) in Barcelona is about 2 hours drive away.

There is a local shop for most daily requirements 5 minutes by car and a large well stocked supermarket which also sells European Newspapers, just 5 minutes by car. The local town of Palafrugell has a daily open air market, fish market, supermarkets, cafes, shops and restaurants to suit all pockets.

Changeover day is Friday. Not negotiable in high season, but we can be flexible at other times. Arrival time 4.30 pm. Departure time 10.00 am.
