This lovingly restored Mas benefits from beautiful grounds in stunning countryside, a private heated pool, comfortable air conditioned rooms, and is a perfect setting for a large family holiday. There is ample room for up to 12 people in six bedrooms with a large lounge, separate dining room and multiple terraces and gardens. Outside there are two barbecues, table tennis and outdoor games as well as the pool.

About Nicholas Connell

I spent several years painstakingly restoring this Provençal mas to its former glory, with a few essential mod cons like the heated pool, air conditioning and a kitchen fit for an amateur chef (that would be me). I restored this house to bring together my grown up family in a beautiful, peaceful surrounding where adults and children can have fun, relax and enjoy the surroundings. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Wander up to the village for your bread in the morning and don't forget to stop for a leisurely coffee at the local café. Stroll through the woods in the afternoon and return for a leisurely swim. Or for the more energetic, take a boat ride down the gorges, try a kayak or the white water rafting, go horse riding at the friendly stables nearby, or visit one of the many beautiful towns on market day, not forgetting to stop for a local meal and a glass of wine.

As lovely in October as in May

After previously staying at Villa Amboutin with friends, we decided to treat our families based in Sweden and in the UK, for a relaxing autumn holiday. On arrival the house ship shape - ready for us, our guests and for a carefree family holiday.

I had been wary of that the weather might not be the best in the latter part of October, but we were pleasantly surprised. It was warm and sunny and we spent much time outside, even used the heated pool, in the daytime. The biggest difference from my and my husband’s previous stays in the spring and summer, was how the temperature suddenly dropped in the evenings after sunset. But the house is very cosy and warm and provides several spaces for eating, playing games and relaxing in the evenings.

We used the boulangerie in Montmeyan every morning and went to the charming Sunday market in Régusse. We had a hilarious time in the beautiful Gore des Verdon where the younger members of the family hired canoes and pedalos while the seniors used an electric boat on the water.

Superb villa in an interesting and pleasant area.

We found the villa to be just as described, in an elevated position with good views. The layout of the villa was better than expected, such that you could always find a quite spot in the house or garden to relax undisturbed, also good shade form the sun in the middle of the day. The swimming pool was excellent and larger than average and a bonus being heated. Nick made sure everything was in order along with the housekeeper who ensured the villa was very clean. The surrounding area was very interesting being close the Gorges du Verdon with swimming, boating all sorts of other water sports. We found the surrounding villages very pleasant and the market at Aups was big and diverse. Our favourite restaurant was the Auberge de la Tour in Aups, a very pleasant courtyard where you can eat out under the shade of the trees. All in all a great holiday.

A beautiful house in a beautiful position, very comfortable, and lots to do

We stayed only a week in quite hot weather, so the pool and the air con was put to good use. The house is very well equipped, and beautifully decorated inside. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms well up to modern standards, the kitchen is well equipped and quite large. The terrace, where one spends most of the non-swimming time faces southwest over a shallow valley looking towards the Montmeyan ridge, so the view is lovely.And there are extensive gardens. One lacks nothing for chairs, cushions, and relaxers. The lower Verdun gorge is only 15 minutes away, and offers plenty of boating opportunities, and there is also an excellent café nearby. The supermarket is 10 minutes away, and another 10 takes you to very pretty small town of Aups. There are markets on most days somewhere closeby. On cooler days there are walks in the woods behind. The Villa is easily accessible from Nice or Marseilles in under 2 hours.

In short, Highly Recommended.

Stunning property both inside & out!

Stunning property both inside & out. Perfect for a 3 generation family holiday. Kids adored the pool & grounds, teenager was happy with the wifi & Grandad & Nana were delighted with the spectacular views, peaceful surroundings & comfy beds . The aircon was a real bonus & made for comfortable sleep filled nights. Laundry room was great & we would have travelled much lighter if we'd realised! A real home from home in the sunshine. Would thoroughly recommend.

A perfect retreat in Provence

This is truly a wonderful place to stay in such a stunning setting. The pictures do not do this lovely home justice. Each bedroom has it's own individual character and are comfortable and clean. The bathroom, en-suite and shower room are all decorated to a high standard. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining room and living room are large and comfy, again with much character in the decoration. All areas are clean and well maintained. The wifi was a bonus.

The true beauty of this place is the outside. The pool is a great size and warm (even in May!) and the table tennis area is great, but the gardens and the view from the various terraces looking across the peaceful valley to the local village are just stunning. The housekeeper was very helpful and easy to contact.

The local villages are great to visit - Lac St Croix in the Gorges du Verdon is a must - spectacular scenery.

The owners have made this a beautiful place to stay in Provence. I cannot recommend it highly enough and I will definitely be going back!

Wonderful well equipped holiday home

We are a family group of ten, and this house was perfect for us. It would comfortably take 12 people as it is well equipped so it was not necessary to run the dishwasher too frequently in order to have enough crockery, glasses etc. We were really lucky with the weather and had every meal outside in the dappled shade under the bamboo roof - wonderful. The terrace - right outside the kitchen door so very convenient - has a lovely view towards Montmeyan.

There is plenty of outside space, and a selection of equipment to use to make the most of it, including a table tennis table under the trees, and a set of boules. The pool was a lovely temperature - three of the teenagers swam in the dark and one of our party took some good photographs of the night sky as there is very little light pollution.

The bathrooms are clean and modern and the kitchen attractive. There is air-conditioning in all the rooms which was very welcome as the temperature was in the 30s most of the time. We had several keen walkers in our party who had no trouble finding good places to explore, and two trips to the lake - about an hour or so away - resulted in some good swimming and a lively catamaran sail.

The newish restaurant in Montmeyan provided us with a very good meal one night although they did have a little trouble serving our party of ten so we had a bit of a wait.

All in all a lovely place for a holiday.
