Apartment in Les Deux Alpes, Isere, Rhone-Alpes, France - Excellent Location, Close To All Amenities And Lifts/Slopes/Ski School Meeting Places

Le Cairn is a lovely, family friendly apartment with a great, homely 'feel'. It's been partially refurbished, and although not a 'slick' interior it has all the mod cons that one expects. It's clean and comfortable. Being on the third floor, it's not noisy from the road and bars. It has a really big ski/board locker complete with cupboard for wet jackets and shelves for boots. Everything you need is close by, shops, tourist office, bars, restaurants and skiing. Our family have been using this apartment for many years, and have always had wonderful holidays there. The refurbishments have made a huge difference as well.

November 2016 has seen brand new double glazed french windows throughout.

Our family consists of Mum, Dad and 3 kids. We live and work in the UK, but get down to LDA whenever we can - finances permitting it! Whenever we talk about holidays with the kids they always want to go back to LDA which suits us. With great skiing in winter, and too much to do in the summer to list, it's a fantastic place to take our holidays. As this area of France gets an average of 300 days sunshine a year, it's a perfect antidote to the miserable English weather!

Great Apartment

Lovely family apartment in a really good location. We stayed for a week last year and the apartment was lovely, very clean and tidy everything where it should be. Plenty of extra throws and blankets if needed but heating was good.

The area is very picturesque with amazing views of the local mountains which are snow covered all year round. The ski resort is roughly a 5 minute walk as is the town centre, lots to do bars, clubs, cafes, swimming pool, ice rink, etc etc. Below the apartment there is two really nice restaurants serving local food and some nice wine. Management was brilliant, we had some car trouble and Charlotte helped us to get a part needed to get us on our way, 10 out of 10. I would definitely recommend this property and i have already booked for this coming march for a week.

We first went to LDA on a ski trip organised by a friend, but loved the place so much we went back the following year. The following summer we went to have a look at the summer skiing and were astonished at the size of the ski area in July/August. It's perfect for young kids to learn in the summer as they can ski all morning and be in the pool in the afternoon. Its a great resort to relax and unwind with a such a friendly atmosphere and a good mix of restaurants.

Nearest Airport : Grenoble at 110 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Tri beca at 10 Metres Nearest Golf : at 1 Kilometres Nearest Train : Grenoble at 80 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : Grenoble at 80 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : tribeca at 10 Metres Nearest Ski : Vallee Blanche at 150 Metres


There is a small beach by a little lake at the bottom of resort (obviously summer only). They have toilets and a kids play area there.


If driving, LDA is 937Km/582 miles from Calais, which takes approx 9 hours of motorway. It's an easy drive.

Grenoble airport (winter) is 110Kms and has organised private bus transfers

Lyon airport is 156 Km with hourly buses to Grenoble station and local buses from there to resort

Chambery airport is 122 Km, but public transport is more difficult from here

Geneva airport is 213 Km with bi-hourly buses to Grenoble station

Pay attention to local bus times to resort on public transport

Further Details:

On the ground floor of the building there are 2 restaurants, a bar and a bread and cake shop. There is also a very good physiotherapist/Osteopath, which hopefully you won't need.

The tourist office is about 50m away, as is the nearest ski shop. The tabac and paper shop is about 100m away, and the nearest supermarket is around 250m. There is a gourmet restaurant within 250m as well.

Stay tax €1 per night, per person. This amount will be due to the manager upon arrival. Does not apply to children under 16 years.

Booking Notes:
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required with booking, the balance to be paid 2months prior to departure.
There will be a cleaning/damage deposit of €/£350 payable in cash on arrival. This will be completely refunded providing the apartment is left as it is found.

Changeover Day:
Change is normally Saturday, but except holiday periods any booking will be considered. Stays of less than 4 nights will incur a premium. Arrivals are between 15.00 and 21.00 & departures between 07.00 & 10.00. Early & late arrivals/departures are €60 extra to reflect the anti social hours

From the Owner

It is a roomy apartment - we have stayed there with the In-laws over a New Year (4 adults and 5 kids altogether) and didn't struggle for room. The restaurant on the ground floor serves great pizzas (plus take away) as well as pierades (hot stone) and fondues. There is no real problem with noise of an evening as it's on the 3rd floor and with a fantastic view across the village to the slopes -it's my screen saver!

  • Notes on accommodation: Please note that as this apartment is on the 3rd floor and does not have a lift, it's not suitable for people using a wheelchair or the very elderly. Buggies can safely be left in the entrance hall though if you have small kids. Outside: There is a large balcony facing W/SW with ample space for al fresco dining when the weather is suitable. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The apartment must be left as it is found. Linen hire is available at €10 pp/pw and towel packs are 5€ pp/pw same price. The linen is obligatory and is paid in cash on arrival. Other: There is a private ski/board store in the basement, which is nice and warm. This includes a cupboard for storing your wet jackets and shelves for your boots.
