A family lodge we love so much we just had to share it with you.

Nikki Dawson purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Nikki Dawson chose Tattershall

It is not a run of the mill holiday home it is luxurious with every conceivable thought having gone into making it special.

What makes this cabin unique

Our lodge is bespoke and completely timber built, completely different to most lodges, firstly because it is built on two stories, secondly because of it's position on the lake.

Good property but dreadful communication .

  • 3 of 5

Booked for birthday with family . Lead up to visit marred by lack of communication from Manager despite many requests. Invoices promised for money paid including deposit never received although promised . Arrived at property expecting door key code to be text -never received /Mobile not answered . Panicking by this time as family arriving from North and London. Had to go to reception and hope they had another number . Luckily they had a number for owner .and mentioned this had happened before with this property. And Code eventually given . Had a good time once in the lodge with great hot tub overlooking lake . Lovely site.. Showers not good couldn't alter temperature which was positively dangerous as previous reviewer mentioned . Couldn't even use 1 shower in ensuite . Decking very slippery and dangerous no warnings . Left lodge very clean and expected deposit to be returned as promised . Had to ask for this and was promised return by BACS on many occasions. Eventually £100 returned after some weeks . Shame admin lets this Winter family break down . Would not recommend.

Lovely cabin but in need of some TLC

  • 4 of 5

I was initially concerned about my stay after reading the last review on here. I was greatly relieved when we arrived as the cabin was lovely. It does look a little shabbier than the surrounding lodges but with a little TLC Im sure it would look fine. The inside of the cabin is clean and tidy and there were no sign of any mice ( I checked thoroughly!). The showers all worked fine, although the steam shower does take some getting used to so an instruction book would of been handy. The single beds could also benefit from more support as the slats kept falling on the floor. The view from the cabin was amazing and the hot tub was clean and well maintained whilst we were there. If I were to stay at Tattershall lakes again I would check to see if this cabin was free before looking elsewhere.

should be better- could be better - needs TLC

  • 1 of 5

good points -beautiful location on a lovely site with lots to do , view overlooking the lake and some quality furniture.

bad points - not like in the pictures and not newly renovated this listing is not up to date. The lodge is tired and in need of a lot of TLC and a good clean in order to maintain the luxury standard stated in the description - negatives included heavily stained mattresses, mattress covers, pillows and duvets, someone else's dirty sheets in bed , mouse droppings in cupboards and drawers, dirty dishwasher, oven, cupboards, pans, balconies with 3 rusty barbecues on veranda, loads of weeds on decking and lots of rotten wood, hot tub was dirty with dirty filters and loads of debris in the bottom, a rotten boat mooring cordoned off with tape. steam room is a steam shower, some lights not working and unpleasant smell. we left straight away and received a refund a few days later after providing photographic evidence.

Would we recommend; we would not return due to experience and holiday being ruined ( we were all very upset as we had traveled 4 hours and had o stay in a holiday inn but we feel that if the above points are rectified others could have a positive experience and a very enjoyable break.

Really enjoyable stay.

  • 5 of 5

I stayed there for the weekend and had an amazing time, the outside of the building looks like it needs a bit of tlc but the inside was beautiful and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. (If there's more than 5 you need some forks)

The site was private enough and the view of the lake was beautiful.

If you want to buy passes to use the facilities on the site they were cheap enough for the weekend and we enjoyed the entertainment provided.

Correspondence with the owner was easy and any questions asked he answered.

The hot tub was AMAZING!!!

All in all a fab weekend was had by us all and we would definitely book again

Thank you

Awful

  • 1 of 5

First impression was fab, the outside and inside looked lovely, the lake view was amazing. However, after we had used the placemats provided and put our cutlery on them and had eaten, we discovered tons of rat/mouse droppings in the drawers that they were in and in most other drawers, there was some in the fruit bowl on top of the microwave also. There was broken glass and droppings on the floor and when we went to use the Hoover upstairs it smelt absolutely awful. Could not find a dustpan and brush. The shower in the main bathroom would only work if it was on the highest temperature which could have seriously scalded one of the children. Very unhappy with this, I have a young sister who has serious cardiac problems and has undergone many operations including open heart surgery and therefore, the mouse/rat dropping scenario makes me extremely angry as her immune system is a lot weaker than ours. Disgusting, would not recommend.

Owner's Response: Firstly I appreciate your complements regarding the way the lodge looked. Your comments regarding the cutlery (is this to suggest that there is not enough as I believe there is plenty there (at least enough for 8), however I will look into this and provide more if necessary. I'm unsure where this broken glass was and what caused it, the cleaner came in to clean just prior to your arrival but I do apologize for it being there. Regarding the droppings, this is admittedly completely unacceptable, in our defense this is the first complaint regarding this and poison has been subsequently put down following this review to sort the problem. I feel the criticism regarding the hoover smelling is unfair as you should not be having to use the hoover and it is a hoover and is dirty so may smell. I would also like to say that had you mentioned these things during your stay I would have immediately tried to rectify them during your stay (try to get a cleaner round etc.) The shower is also being looked into (again first complaint) and there is a dustpan in the utility type room downstairs. Also I have been told the door was left open upon your departure which may not have been intentional but if it was intentional, I think this is a very petty response, as was turning the heating to full blast. However the mouse droppings especially are unacceptable and if you would let me have your bank details I would be happy to re-reimburse you £100.00 as compensation for the issues during your stay. I'm sorry it didn't turn out to be the stay you hoped for.

The Lodge is cleaned prior to each rental, for stays of 5 days or more a visit by our cleaner can be organised at an additional cost. (please enquire at the time of booking if required).
The hot tub is cleaned, water levels checked and new chlorine added if required twice a week, this is currently every Friday and Monday this process takes approximately 10-15 minutes, We would expect the guests to allow access for the service agents to carry out this process. On occasion a drain and refill of the hot tub may be needed this process can take a few hours to complete then the hot tub would need time reheat to a suitable temperature, we will always endeavour to have this process completed while the lodge is vacant, however on occasion this may coincide with rental dates.
