Restored Farmhouse in Macher, Lanzarote, Canary Islands - Peaceful Location, 5 Minutes Drive to the Sea

This is a beautiful, quiet and relaxing, authentically restored Finca, or farmhouse, which shares the site of an old farmstead on the south side of the island. At the heart of the house is the pool, where the terrace area and pergola provide total privacy and great shelter from the Lanzarote sun and wind. This house is perfect for either a romantic break or for a family holiday. The bedrooms are cosy, buffered by the 2-3 feet thick old walls. The living area is more contemporary, with an open plan, light feel to it. The kitchen is large, modern and well equipped. There is a large gas BBQ outside, with the teak hexagonal table under the main pergola making for perfect al fresco dining. The marina at Puerto Calero is only five minutes drive away. The sunbathing beaches on the south side of the island ten minutes drive. The surfing beaches on the north side half an hour. The stunning Timanfaya national park starts on the hill, at the base of which the house sits.

Wonderful place to stay!

We have stayed at Casa Playa Negra three times and it's our favourite place to stay on the island. It's a real home from home with the added bonus of a private swimming pool. Rachel the manager is always friendly and helpful. I will be booking again soon! Nat and Andy

One of the best I have stayed in Lanzarote if not the best in the last 25 years. Good location well equipped every thing was thought of clean excellent pool,excellent customer srvice by Racheal.

Perfect location for sight seeing, exploring and beaches. Good for walking and birdwatching.Sparkling pool heated all year at no extra charge, hot and cold shower. Super comfy beds/bedding.Large well equipped kitchen. Spotless house and tidy gardens, all tv channels work, Wi Fi excellent. Easy to find. Information pack very informative and if you need to know more just ask Rachel the manager, always available to help you.Use her eating out guide ,you wont go wrong. Cafe next to Garage 5mins away near Spar, good food ,children welcome.Spar has fresh fish, meat at good prices on Puerto Carmen roundabout .At El Golfo there are lava rocks which when opened (if you are lucky) have green crystals in. Good for a gentle stroll ,coffee (try the special coffees with condensed milk) and cake or excellent fish. We loved Quamada just a small fishing village with a couple of bars ,excellent sea food on the edge of the sea.The Casa is beautifull y resored in a location that is good alround ,something for every- one ! Easy to find ,private ,there are no negatives. Go relax and enjoy, highly reccomended.

The sunbathing beaches of Puerto dlel Carmen are a ten minute drive. Those at Papagayo and Playa Blanca are twenty minutes drive. The surf beaches on the north side of the island are less than half an hours drive.


Lanzarote Airport (Arrecife) is fifteen minutes drive by car. In general a car is essential for this property. Discounted car hire can be arranged if requested.


The house is in the countryside, on the boundary between the villages of La Asomada and Macher. The centre of Macher with its large well stocked supermarket is just a five minute drive. It is a ten minute drive to either Tias or Puerto Del Carmen. Otherwise the house is well placed for travelling around the island, with nowhere being more than 40 minutes away by car, for the volcanic national park and to access the improved scenic road along the spine of the island.

Further Details:

Guests return time and time again to Casa Piedra Negra, mainly for the total peace and relaxation the house offers. Even on the windiest day, the pool and terrace areas of the house are sheltered from the wind, and guests enjoy the privacy the house offers and its central position to enjoy all that Lanzarote has to offer.

  • Notes on accommodation: There is access to the pool from three different rooms - from both the dining area/living room and from two of the bedrooms. There is high speed Broadband/Wifi. The house has many return visitors due to the total peace, quiet and relaxation the location offers, and it is extremely well equipped with good quality fixtures and fittings, books, games, and tv. Outside: There is a large garden to the front with a paved parking and turning area for cars. The internal terrace area surrounds the swimming pool. This area is totally private and well sheltered. The pool is approximately eight by four metres. It has a combination of solar and electric heating which maintains it at 29 degrees Celsius the whole year. It has a salt chlorinator which keeps the chlorine at a low, even level and gives the water a softness and gentle saltiness. The pergola by the pool shelters a teak hexagonal dining table and chairs. This is accessed directly from the kitchen/dining area and so makes for drinks and al fresco dining. The raised terrace outside bedroom 3 has its own pergola, smaller table and chairs. There are two teak, adjustable reclining chairs with matching foot stools. In addition there are two conventional horizontal sun loungers. There is an 'Outback' gas BBQ with two grills and a griddle. Utility Room: External or laundry area with washing machine and drying lines. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: A small welcome pack and pool towels are provided. For guests staying 9 nights or more, a midstay maid service is provided with linen and towel change, and light cleaning. Other: Please note the 3rd bedroom is accessed by a separate stairway leading off the pool area, with its own en suite bathroom & coffee making facilities. This would not be suitable for small children, but ideal where there are more than one couple sharing the house.
