Country Lodge On Private Grounds

Updated: 27-Oct-2016
Lodge in Knockananna, Wicklow, Ireland - Peaceful Country Hideaway

Hollow Lodge is tucked away in stunning countryside with breathtaking views offering huge privacy and an opportunity to taste the pleasures of a slower pace of life. The lodge is deceptively spacious and oozing with charm with a very large country kitchen ideal for relaxing in and soaking up the atmosphere of the surrounding countryside.Renovated and modernised several years ago the architect remained sympathetic to the local rustic ideal. Included in accomodation downstairs is a utility room, shower/WC, sitting room with open fire, large hall with wood burner, double bedroom. Upstairs are 3 further bedrooms - 1 double and 2 twins, an ensuite shower in the double bedroom. The kitchen leads to a well sheltered external patio with granite cut table and seating perfect for outdoor dining and relaxing. Table tennis table available on site. Local village life can be experienced a short distance away (c. 5 mins walk) with local grocer, 2 pubs with traditional live music, and church.Beautiful sandy beached are within easy reach with the sheltered sandy beach of Clogga Bay only a 35 min drive and the scenic Ballymoney Beach approx. 45 min drive..

About the Owner

Hollow Lodge is owned by Aoife & John Kennedy who live in County Dublin with their two young sons. Since taking ownership of the lodge over fifteen years ago we have extended and restored the house and adjoining buildings as well as laid out and planted the gardens and surrounding acreage (15 acres in all). We have tried to create a home away from home while retaining the relaxed atmosphere of a rural retreat to be enjoyed during all seasons! We enjoy outdoor activities - horse riding, walking, trekking, golf, sailing and many more. We have been welcoming holiday makers to Hollow Lodge for almost 15 years from all over the world whether it be for family holidays, family occasions and gatherings. short breaks, New Year's Eve events, Christmas & Easter breaks breaks, etc.

Beautiful and peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hollow Lodge! The house had everything that we needed for a truly wonderful trip and I would definitely recommend Hollow Lodge for anyone looking for a rental property. We had no issues at all throughout the entire process. The owners are also very helpful with any questions you might have.

Fantastic for a family holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Hollow Lodge was probably the best place we stayed in so far! We stayd there with two families (4 adults, 4 children). It´s spacious (much larger inside than it looks from the outside!), the kitchen is fantastic, the property beatiful...the kids especially loved the table tennis set-up in the barn! The only thing a bit hard to find was firewood, but the fireplace in the living rooms worked like a dream! Highly recommended!

Ideal family cottage in fantasic surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a week there with our four children 14,13,12 and 7 and it is as described, the cottage is perfect for families the owners are really friendly and helpful and the scenery is beautiful, i would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. If you are thinking of staying here I would recommend you have a car because most of the activities we did paintballing, horse riding, shooting and archery were quite a few miles away but don't let that put you off because some of the car journeys led us to other little towns and villages that are well worth a look.

beautiful house full of character and charm

  • 4 of 5

Hollow Lodge is in the wilds of the countryside although only a kilometre from the nearest petrol station and local shop. It is beautiful and comfortable with all the necessary things needed for a long stay (mine was 10 weeks). Mobile wifi is necessary and available for connection to the outside world but ordinary mobile phones do not work - and this needs to be pointed out.

Hollow Lodge

  • 4 of 5

This was an ideal location for a large family get-together, the cottage was warm and cozy with plenty of room to spread around. We were not lucky with the weather but there is lots to do and see in the area and the two local pubs had live music on two of the nights we stayed.

A very enjoyable experience!

We had a wonderful stay here, in a beautiful setting and the lodge was brilliant especially the kitchen and what made it even more amazing was all the wildlife that the children had fun spotting we even had a baby fox in the garden one morning. Would highly recommend a stay here the garden is amazing and such a tranquil space to relax. Breathtaking!!!!
