Carl Axon purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Carl Axon chose East Lindsey

Being a Pet owner myself, I was always disappointed at the lack of homes available that welcome pets, So when i purchased this lovely cottage, I wanted to make sure that other pet owners would have the pleasure in being able to bring their best friends with them too.

Sutton on Sea is such a nice, clean and relaxed seaside village and this particular home looked so lovely in the sun when i passed it one day, with a welcoming sunny garden, its cute little fishpond, it had everything i was looking for in a "Get away from it all" home. A Lovely peaceful location just minutes from the sea, a short stroll to the village shops & restaurants, this home has it all and has proven extremely popular with my wonderful guests & their little friends returning year after year.

What makes this cottage unique

This quaint cottage has a lovely large sunny garden, it is spacious and yet very homely. Guests often comment about how they really enjoy relaxing in the conservatory of which overlooks the pretty garden. It has a long driveway with off road parking for upto 3 cars and the garden is totally secure for pets enabling owners to have complete peace of mind.

We would be delighted to have you as guests and a great deal of care has been taken to prepare the cottage for your arrival to ensure you and your family feel right at home to enjoy a wonderful holiday or shortbreak stay.

Thank you for considering our little cottage for your holiday, We look forward to being of service to you either now or in the future.

IT WAS A VERY DISSAPOINTING EXPERIENCE IN A PROPERY THAT DID NOT MATCH UP TO IT'S DESCRIPTION.

  • 1 of 5

We arrived to a shabby driveway, dandelions on lawn, bungalow, not cottage, on a large housing estate, and found a cold kitchen with broken heater and dirty equipment. (The weather was very cold 9% temperature). Provisions left for the so called 'Welcome hot or cold drink' were ridiculous. Only one storage heater left on. Bathroom heated towel rail broken. Had to drive to a shop to pay for electricity. £27.00 used in our one and a half day's there! Small cramped bedroom lead to an unlit, unheated conservatory which was the only safe access to the secure garden, which was the only bit living up to description Very disappointing and very overpriced property.

Perfect location, lovely enclosed safe garden, broadband ample, bed comfy, will book again :)

  • 4 of 5

This is a lovely place to stay, my partner and our pooch were at home from the onset.

I have given it a 4 star review, only minors thing needed in my mind, but these did not spoil our stay in anyway :) we will be back.

We will next time pack slippers as the floors are cold, but our dog loves a cold floor so we can't have it both ways, the shower was a bit weak, in terms of pressure but it did its job, the only thing I think is essential for a family with a dog was the facility to rinse the dog down after he had been on the beach, I noticed an outside tap but no hose, being able to hose him down would have made it a bit easier, I used a bowl and cup to get the excess sand off him :)

We did not use the garden much as the weather was not at its best, the little conservatory is ideal to sit and relax, me n the dog spent most of our time in there :)

Looking forward to our next stay !!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to do a review of your stay, I'm so pleased you all had a great time and with regard to washing the dog down..a great idea and i have now installed a hose for this purpose. This is a purposely designed "Pet friendly holiday home so i decided on installing tiled floors as carpets become too dirty and smelly with pets, and tiles are much cleaner and easier to clean. Yes the conservatory really is a lovely place to be and i'm pleased you enjoyed it. We would be delighted to welcome you back as valued guests in th future.

NOT SO SUNSHINE COTTAGE

  • 1 of 5

DID NOT REALISE UNTIL TO LATE THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY TO HEAT THE COTTAGE. PANEL HEATERS ARE THE MOST EXPENSIVE FORM OF HEATING, IT COST ABOUT £6 A DAY TO HEAT 2 BEDROOMS A LIVING ROOM AND THE USELESS HEATED TOWEL RAIL IN THE BATHROOM . THE TOWEL RAIL WAS IN NO WAY ADEQUATE TO HEAT THE ROOM, AND AS SUCH THE PUDDLES OF CONDENSATION ON THE TILED FLOOR MADE IT VERY SLIPPERY. THE GAS HEATER IN THE KITCHEN WOULD NOT WORK AND THE CONTROL HAS BEEN PAINTED OVER . I THINK IT SHOULD BE CONDEMED. ALL IN ALL POOR HEATING AND CERAMIC TILED FLOORS MADE FOR AN EXTREMELY COLD HOLIDAY.

IN THE BATHROOM , THE TOILET SEAT IS TOO SMALL TO FIT THE PAN AND IS VERY BENDABLE. THE FLUSH HANDLE IS COMING OUT OF THE CISTERN.DUE TO INADEQUATE HEATING THERE WERE PUDDLES OF CONDENSATION ON THE FLOOR MAKING IT SLIPPERY.

WE WERE UNABLE TO AIR THE LIVING ROOM DUE TO THE WINDOWS BEING LOCKED AND THERE BEING NO KEY.

THERE WAS DOG MESS IN THE GARDEN ,THE BINS WERE FULL. WE DID NOT HAVE A NICE HOLIDAY AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.

I ONLY GAVE IT ONE STAR BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T LET ME LEAVE A REVIEW WITHOUT DOING SO.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review your stay and i deeply shocked to hear of your experience, However, i am pleased to inform you that the issues raised have now been cleared and fixed. With regard the heating, we have found this to be the most useful method as it prevents those guests who wish to travel and dine out in paying any more electricity than they have to and of course you did visit during one of the coldest months being March and if you stayed in all day, then obviously you'll need the heating on. During the summer, then you wont. We pride ourselves of providing a nice holiday cottage for pet owners and our guests are of the utmost importance to us, so your feedback is extremely useful in order to help us maintain our standards so guests can continue to enjoy this extremely popular holiday cottage
