2 Bedroom Villa Perfectly Located for Access To All The Westmoreland Facilities

The main living area is located upstairs in our villa and the airy, open plan design allows the kitchen, dining room and lounge to seamlessly meld into one. The sun pours in through the huge patio doors that open onto the balcony where there are a pair of sunbeds for topping up the tan and a covered area for cooling off or enjoying a light lunch and an ice cold drink. By day, you can enjoy panoramic views over the world-class golf course, the beautifully manicured gardens in the complex and all the way down to the sea. By night, the rhythmic chirp of the cicadas provides the backing music for relaxing with a drink and good book watching the giant cruise liners come to and from Bridgetown.

About the Owner

My name is Mike Gatting and I am an ex-England cricket captain and currently work for the ECB. My wife Elaine and I have enjoyed holidaying in Barbados for years. I have a very demanding work schedule, especially during the English summer, which is why Barbados has worked so well for me as a destination over the last 10 years or so. During my cricket-playing days, I was lucky enough to travel to many warm and sunny places around the world but I can honestly say that nowhere else I have been has ever made me feel as relaxed as I do when I am in the villa. There is truly nothing better, in my opinion, then spending 2 or 3 weeks in the warm sun and allowing your life to slow right down in the gorgeous surroundings of the Royal Westmoreland and the island of Barbados as a whole.

We had a fantastic time thank you. The villa itself was kept spotlessly clean by Arlene who couldn't do enough to help. I though the villa was in a fantastic position i.e. close to the club house, sanctuary and because we didn't have a car we could catch the shuttle to beach with ease or walk down to the clubhouse to get a cab into Holetown. Finally, thank you for your attention to detail prior to our trip and I am in no doubt we will be in contact with you next time we want a Caribbean holiday.

The Westmoreland is set in the hills of the parish of St James a short drive from Holetown. It is calm and quiet and feels as though you are miles away from any one else. The Westmoreland resort itself is quiet for the most part but one of the things I love about Barbados is how small it is and how close everything feels. Our villa was one of the original show homes when the Westmoreland was being built. As such it is in a fantastic location within the complex. Your are no more than a minutes walk from the Clubhouse and the Sanctuary. Literally across the road you have the tennis courts and the all important Rum Shak and last but not least you have a 100 yd walk to the Forest Hills pool.

The Royal Westmoreland has a beach club at Mullins Bay. During the high and peak seasons, there is an hourly shuttle bus service that will take you from the Sanctuary to the beach club and bring you back again. If you have your own vehicle, you can drive to Mullins in about 5-10 minutes. If you have your own car you can also visit many of the publicly owned beaches and marine reserves across the island. I would highly recommend visiting Crane beach.


The villa is approximately 30 minutes by car / taxi from Grantly Adams International Airport.

The villa is self catering and although you can get some good food in the Westmoreland complex I would still consider a hire car essential as there any many fantastic restaurants on the island. For shorter holidays you may consider hiring one for only a part of your stay but there is so much to see around the island you would, in my honest opinion, be missing a lot if you did not have a car.


The nearest town is Holetown in the parish of St James. If you have a car you can drive to town in about 5-10 minutes, traffic dependant. In Holetown there is a large supermarket to do your food shopping and numerous restaurants and bars.

If you wish to visit Bridgetown then you will have a 30-40 minute journey ahead of you.

St Lawrence gap is approximately 30 minutes away but I would recommend getting a taxi to take you and pick you up as parking can be difficult.

Booking Notes:
Bookings must be for a minimum of 7 nights. The rates quoted are for bookings up to 3 weeks / 21 nights. For long term rentals please contact the owners to negotiate rates.

In order to secure any booking we require a 10% non-refundable deposit up front.

The remaining balance is to be paid in full 6 weeks prior to your arrival date.

If you are due to arrive within 6 weeks of the booking date then the entire balance will be due up front.

Changeover Day:
Check in - please head down to guest services upon arrival to collect your resort cards and info pack.
Check out - Guests are required to vacate the villa by 12 noon. Please ensure to settle your account with the concierge prior to departure.

Notes on prices:
For rentals crossing over 2 different pricing periods the daily rate will be calculated and used accordingly.
The prices are only applicable for rentals up to and including 3 weeks. For any longer term rentals please contact us directly and we can negotiate cheaper rates.

The one thing that truly stands out about the Westmoreland is how fantastic the golf course is to play. It is immaculately kept, brilliantly designed and is exclusive to members and their guests only. You can't play the course unless you stay in a villa whose owners are members so bare that in mind when you are comparing properties. Even if you only enjoy golf casually it would be a crime not to play a round. As we are full, Royal Westmoreland Club members, our guests enjoy access to the golf course and discounted golf rates during their stay.

  • Notes on accommodation: All guests at our villa get complimentary Royal Westmoreland Membership for the duration of their stay. Forest Hills Pool - The shared pool is a 30 second walk from the villa and is only usable by people who own or rent a villa in the Forest Hills neighborhood. Beach Club at Mullins - During the high and peak season (see the Information Pack for details) a shuttle bus service runs between the Sanctuary and the Mullins Beach club. Golf is not included in the price of your stay but guests in our villa get a discount on the standard price. Outside: A shared garden area is accessible through either bedroom and there is seating provided in the sheltered terrace. There are 2 shared pools available, one in the sanctuary that is open to all guests of the Westmoreland and one only available to people who own or rent a property in the Forest Hills neighborhood. It should be noted that none of the pool areas have lifeguards on duty and children should be carefully supervised at all times whether in a pool area or not. Utility Room: Washing machine and tumble dryer are located opposite the powder room however our housekeeper, Arlene, will take care of all the washing and ironing you generate over your holiday. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The usage of towels and linen are included. Our housekeeper, Arlene will do your washing and ironing and ensure the villa is kept clean. She will not hand wash underwear or other such personal garments. Arlene works Monday to Friday 10am - 2pm as a minimum or longer if required.
