Overview

About the property

2 bedroom Cottage sleeping 4 in Gillamoor, Nr. Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire Moors, England

A traditional style village cottage set in a quiet North York Moors village within the national park. The property has many original features but also has wi-fi, a log burner and a toasty new central heating system. The cottage is set over 3 floors but each of its 5 rooms have at least 3 steps to them due to the quirky but flowing lay out. The lounge has a comfy 4 piece leather suite, 3D TV and blue-ray DVD player. The fully fitted kitchen has a dining area with pine farmhouse table and chairs and stable door to the enclosed elevated garden. The south facing garden has far reaching views, a decked area with large parasol for plenty of shade along with a bbq for guests to use. Upstairs are the 2 bedrooms and bathroom. One bedroom has a double bed, faces west with views across to Helmsley, the second bedroom has twin beds and a small window looking south over the Howardian Hills. The cot will fit in either bedroom. The bathroom has a bath with shower over as well as sink and toilet. We do not accept pets.

About Mrs Claire Franklin

We are a couple with teenage children living in accommodation provided by Marks job.

Should anything happen to his job we have bought this lovely cottage as our security net and to eventually retire to.

We service the cottage ourselves and aim to meet all our guests when they stay, we live around 1/2 hour away so can soon pop over should any problem arise.

Mrs Claire Franklin purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Mrs Claire Franklin chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

We bought the property to eventually retire to when the time comes, this is the area that we were brought up in therefore we are very familiar with the area should you need to know anything.

What makes this cottage unique

We love our weekends at the cottage, we both work from home so its great to get out for a walk around the moors when we can.

As more and more people want to stay at the cottage this is becoming less frequent!

We also like a drink or two in the pub around the corner as its so welcoming, we have been known to have the odd breakfast there too.

The take-aways in Kirkbymoorside are a great asset too, they are only 5 minutes away in the car.

Even when just popping over to clean between guests we usually manage a quick lunch in the garden listening to the birds, or to pop to one of the lovely coffee shops in Kirkbymoorside or Helmsley.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a lovely cosy quirky cottage with everything you need in a lovely little village. Kirby Moorside is only 2-3 miles away and Pickering is 8 miles away so if you get chance to do the steam train from Pickering to Whitby it is well worth the money. Sept 12

Lovely cottage. Located on the edge of a small village which is only two miles from a town with many shops and restaurants. The cottage itself was spotless when we arrived. Cosy yet felt spacious as each of the five rooms was set out on its own level. Equipped with everything we could possibly need, including soft duvets, fire wood and a much welcomed bottle of wine.

A lovely cottage in a friendly village. Excellent local pub, wonderful countryside and a great base for exploring the local moors and coast.

Relaxing break in North Yorkshire

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful cottage in the village of Gillamoor in North Yorkshire. The cottage is quaint, well looked after and has all the little extra's you need. A modern kitchen, garden, a cosy lounge with wood fire burner. A lovely welcome pack from Claire and Mark. Perfectly situated for the coast, Helmsley, Pickering and The Moors.

Cottage Gillamoor

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful location. We had a wonderful stay that was made even more special by the thoughtful touches on arrival - an Easter egg hunt round the house, tasteful decorations and a complimentary basket. The house is well equipped and very clean. Highly recommended.
