Property

Updated: 07-Nov-2016
House in Lamorna, Nr. Lands End, Cornwall, England - Hidden Away Yet Close To Both Penzance And St Ives, And To Stunning Beaches And Sandy Coves

Set in 7 acres of private woodland, Rosemerryn is a former artist’s residence, built for Benjamin Leder at the turn of the twentieth century. With spacious bedrooms, a big farmhouse kitchen and a large lounge, the house is reminiscent of a slower more pensive way of life. The lounge was once the artist's studio, and is beautifully lit by a huge north-facing window. This, along with the conservatory, and the private garden, allow plenty of space for a members of a big group to be together, but also to escape on their own. Adjacent to the house is the new games room, equipped with a table tennis table, a good sound system and an overhead projector for viewing movies or sky TV. Outside, beyond the garden, is the Bolegh Fogou, a 2000 year old cave or temple, which was once part of an iron-age settlement; just one of numerous such Ancient Celtic Sites to be found in the far west of Cornwall. There are well worn paths to follow through the woods, many made by badgers and foxes, and one, trodden more by humans, which will direct you down through the valley to the local pub, the Lamorna Wink, or on to the Cove where there is a small café overlooking the harbour beach and the waves rolling in across the Atlantic.

Amazing jewel of the woods!

  • 5 of 5

I fell in love with this beautiful house from the moment I saw the picture, booked it immediately for my 60th birthday do and was not disappointed at any stage of my four night stay. We were a group of 12 - aged from 5 - 65 and we all agreed it was fantastic!

We were very impressed with the facilities provided - Laura and Rob thought of everything and if was great how 21st century 'must have' gadgets etc blended in with the overall rustic ambiance!

My five star rating says it all!

Thank you Laura and Rob!!

Fantastic holiday!

  • 5 of 5

A really beautiful house, very well equipped and immaculately maintained, which is no mean feat for such an old place. We were 5 families all with 1 or 2 young children, all very old friends desperate for a proper catch up - and this house suited us to a tee. There was big enough communal space for us to eat and drink and be merry together, but also enough space for us not to be on top of each other. Gorgeous garden, a sunroom and vine tree to envy, and lots and lots to explore very locally. We'll be back!

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The house lends itself to shared holidays with friends or extended family, having plenty of space to accommodate 12 or 14 people comfortably, with space both to gather together and to escape quietly. Perfect for celebrating special family occasions; we are able to provide some catering should you wish to get together as a family without the hassle of organising all the food. Outside: Outside there is a private, but unfenced garden where there is a barbecue and table and chairs. Utility Room: The utility room has a large, American style washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and hoover, and space to hang wet things. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided and changed on a weekly basis. Guests are asked to bring their own beach towels rather than taking the house towels to the beach. Other: The south facing conservatory leads from the lounge and provides a further seating area. A mature vine clambers over the roof giving shade when the sun is too hot. A door from here leads out into the private garden and from there into the woods beyond.
