As soon as you enter the house, El Penasco will make you feel at home. The villa is tastefully decorated with terracotta floor tiles and mudejar style elements. Entering your private parking area you will be instantly grasped by the views down to Gibraltar, the Mediterranean and Africa, overlooking your big rock garden with olive, almond and carob trees ('El Penasco' means ‘The Cliff’) and a 10x4 meter pool with ample terraces. Every single room, whether it is the salon, the kitchen or the three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms all offer magnificent views and direct access to one of the many terraces which surround the house. The steeply descending terraced garden offers plenty of cool shade. The villa is completely private and is situated on the edge of Gaucín. A (steep) 3-minutes walk will take you in to the village with an ample choice of shops, bars and restaurants. The property is an absolute top location!

Activity and Interests


The Mediterranean with its many beaches, golf courses and lively marinas is a 1/2 hour drive. The Atlantic Ocean, with its beautiful unspoilt beaches is a paradise for windsurfers; it takes 1½ hours to get there.


You will find international airports in Gibraltar 1 hour, Málaga 1½ hour. Jerez de la Frontera 2 hours and Sevilla 2 1/2 hours. The historic town of Ronda is at 40 min. Granada with it's famous Alhambra at 3 hours and Cordoba at 3½. The use of a car is highly recommended.

Gaucín is a beautiful, white-washed mountain village, part of the Serranía de Ronda. It is spectacularly situated on a ridge, 629 metres above sea level and has breathtaking views over the Genal valley to Gibraltar, the Mediterranean and Morocco. Gaucín is not only beautiful, but also very centrally situated. Nature lovers will find themselves surrounded by nature reserves like the Sierra de Grazalema, Los Alconorcales and the Sierra de las Nieves, wonderful walking area with a lot of wildlife.

  • Notes on accommodation: Due to the fact that El Penasco has lots of terraces on different levels the villa is not suitable for the elderly, the infirm and children. Outside: One of the main features of the property are the numerous terraces that surround the house. There are open terraces for sunbathing, covered terraces for eating out on long Summer nights and shady, hidden corners where you can read a book, have a glass of wine, watch the birds or just sit and enjoy being in this lovely place. The pool, 10 x 4 meters and 1.2 to 1.9 meters deep has the same fantastic views as the rest of the property. Utility Room: Washing machine and tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. They are changed once a week.
