Apartment in Villars, Vaud, Switzerland - Great Location - Adjacent To The Ski Train And Tennis Courts, 10 Minutes Walk To Villars Centre

Opale is a spacious 2 bedroom (1 en suite) apartment decorated to a high standard on the ground floor of a chalet block in a quiet development with a south facing terrace and lovely views across the valley. It is only 100m from the mountain railway station and a similar distance from Villars tennis with both outdoor and indoor courts. The apartment comes with its own underground parking space. The block also has ski storage and a laundry and drying room.

Villars is located on a natural balcony at an altitude of 1300 metres in the heart of the Vaud Alps. In this idyllic setting with its stunning views stretching from Lake Geneva to Mont Blanc, winter sports fans can enjoy 125 km of pistes suitable for all levels.There is also an excellent indoor ice rink. Villars is friendly, not crowded and family oriented. Children 9 and under ski for free. In summer the "free access" pass provides free access to most of the local facilities and transport. The 18 hole golf course is 5km away.

Why Philip and Lynn chose Ollon

My children were quite young at the time and we had all just learnt to ski. We thought it would be lovely to have our own place in the mountains where we could ski whenever we were able.

Villars is a very friendly place where the ski slopes have never been too busy when we have been there. The scenery is stunning and there is lots to do. My daughters all loved ice skating and the ice rink is great.

It is also very easy to reach on public transport so you don't actually need a car which is nice sometimes.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is so near to the ski train that getting up the slopes is a doddle. When there is good snow you can ski all the way back down. On other days you can relax on the train!

Roche Grise is a quiet development of a small number of well spaced out chalet blocks with easy parking and it is very convenient for all the facilities in town.

In summer the tennis courts are almost next door.

At the end of an active day I just love sitting in the window or on the terrace taking in the stunning views.

Good location with comfortable accommodation.

We had a very nice stay apart from being snowed in for 3 days. Well epuipped and really comfortable bed and pillows, which is absolutely essential after a hard days skiing.

The owners have been very helpful throught the booking process and whilst we were there. Happy to recommend this apartment.

What a fantastic apartment, perfectly located for the train and a short walk to the town.

We stayed at Opale 5 for 5 nights last week, the apartment had everything we needed. Plenty of space to relax in, kitchen fully equipped, comfortable beds and nice powerful shower and bath. The location was ideal for the train up the mountain and only a short walk into town. There were 3 adults staying but it would comfortably sleep 4-6. Would recommend and will look to re-visit.

Great find in villars - definitely recommend.

We had a great week at the apartment in villars with 4 adults and 2 young children.

We are familiar with the area so got the train/tram from the station to villars without an issue (apart from lugging the luggage on and off!). I wouldn't recommend trying to walk from the tram station in villars as the hill is very steep and would have been a nightmare with luggage. One stop in the tram up the mountain was much easier.

The apartment is well equipped, especially in the kitchen, the beds were comfy and the place was clean. Word of warning, our 3 yr old slept on the extra bed in one of the bedrooms which was great, but if an adult sat on it then the slats popped out so only use that for young children. We took our own travel cot as it wasn't provided. That meant that we had 8 pieces of luggage plus a pram which made the journey quite difficult- we didn't think it wouldn't take much to provide one in the apartment for young families to use.

The location is great if you want to go up the mountain as it is a 3minute walk from the tram stop. Equally it is 5 minutes to the nursery slopes behind the tram station in villars which was great.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to family and friends and would stay again if we holiday in villars again.

Up to now there has been very little demand for a cot as usually it is only older children who have been staying. Lovely Apartment.

I am so pleased that we found this apartment for our stay in Villars. It was perfect for us. Spacious and comfortable with good quality furnishings. It was very well equipped and had everything we needed. There were lovely views from every window and we enjoyed being able to sit out on the patio in the sunshine.

Contact with the owners was excellent and the collection and return of keys to the local agent was very smooth.

We certainly hope to return soon.

Great apartment

Fantastic apartment - we stayed with our 3 children in August 2016. The apartment was very clean and had enough space for all of us, well furnished and comfortable. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed, and it was lovely to be on the ground floor so we could sit on the patio enjoyed the views. The owners were very helpful, especially when we couldn't work out how to open the laundry room. There is a concierge in the next building to help with any issues.

It's just a 5 minute walk into the main town, and the mountain railway stops about 20m away.

Great would recommend to everyone.

Fantastic Find

We had a brilliant time in Villar and would recommend this place without reservation.

A great 2 bedroom apartment on the ground floor (fantastic for the kids to get out and play in the snow) only a 1minute walk from the first stop on the train up the mountain.

As you would expect in a top notch apartment, the build and decoration was very good (powerful shower always a must), but really impressed was the addition of the basics that you otherwise have to bring in for the kitchen. We always bring our own salt, pepper, oil, dishwashing liquid etc as we have been caught out in the past with empty apartments, but here there was pretty much every basic you could need. Naturally you replace what you finish, but having an owner with this kind of foresight makes the overall stay that much more pleasant.

Villars sur Ollon (to give it its full name) lies above Aigle on the North side of the Rhone valley

By car Villars is about 8 hours driving time form the French channel ports. It is approximately 90 minutes from Geneva airport, leaving the A9 motorway at the Aigle junction. Follow signs to Aigle and then signs to Villars.

Trains run direct to Aigle or Bex from Geneva airport where there is a connection to Villars. Journeys take 2h via Aigle or 2h20 via Bex.

A car is not essential.


By car Montreux is only 20/25 minutes away with its lovely lakeside walks and its famous jazz festival in July each year. Lausanne is another attractive lakeside city about 45 minutes away. Its major attraction is the Olympic Museum which is a really good day out with lots of Olympic memorabilia.

There are many boat trips and you can cross over to towns such as Evian

Gruyere is a pretty town 1 hour away and Bern, Interlaken, Chamonix and Zermatt are all within a couple of hours drive.

There is a full array of sporting activities on a year round basis. For the active visitor there is just about every sport you could possibly imagine. Your selection includes cross country skiing, curling, swimming, ice skating, horse riding,mountain biking, walking, tennis or golf. You are almost sure to find something that is to your liking. Those in search of relaxation can enjoy the facilities and wellness offers of the thermal baths at Lavey-les-Bains.
