This very comfortable, attractive and well equipped country cottage has many original features including exposed beams and inglenook fireplace. Cottage garden (front) and small garden with lawn (rear) which overlooks a meadow and hills beyond. This timbered property has been lovingly preserved whilst containing every modern convenience you will require. A beautiful cottage within a lovely village. A real gem!

Book using your card on this site or directly with Tim and Pauline using the ever popular, cost effective and traditional 'owners direct' method rather than by paying by the more expensive card/online booking system. Tim and Pauline will always deduct £60 per week from theonline/card booking quotation by booking directly with them. We live most of the time in Surrey where Tim is a Church of England Vicar.

Dayspring Cottage in East Knoyle, is our own home in which we spend as much free time as we are able. We love this peaceful cottage and the friendly village where we unwind and 're-charge our batteries'. Walking the fields, lanes and hills in the summer with our cocker spaniel is a delight - as is relaxing with a glass of wine in front of a roaring log fire in the inglenook in winter. This is a very special place for us!

The perfect hideaway!

Gorgeous home away from home cottage tucked away in a beautiful little village. Spotless and well maintained with all the facilities you need including washing machine. Clear instructions for the running and workings of the property were given and owners only a phone call away should you need them.

Spent three days here in December for some peace and quiet and chill out time. We enjoyed country side walks and the local pub is only a ten minute walk. Evenings were spent in front of the open log fire. Only a short drive to some bigger towns and Stonehenge.

Would absolutely recommend a stay at this cottage and hope to be able to get back for another break soon.

Very picturesque, good location, needs a little updating.

Spacious property in an idyllic location. Very pretty exterior and Interior was full of character but heating provision not the best. Log fire was impressive but back up electric heaters would perhaps struggle in winter. Nice garden front and back if a little overgrown at the back. Showers in both bathrooms not great either. That said had a wonderful stay and the area is very beautiful. Easy access to lots if historic sites including Stonehenge, Avebury, Bath, Stourhead, Glastonbury and Salisbury.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We value all responses. We have always valued the high standard of work by our gardener and the upkeep of gardens, front and rear to a high standard. However, owing recent ill health of our gardener the borders in the rear had not had any attention for a month prior to your stay, for which we apologise. In terms of heating, the three powerful storage heaters which store heat overnight and then release throughout the following day keep the cottage extremely warm throughout the harshest of winters to the extent that the log fire is often lit for cosmetic purposes only. I imagine that the mobile heaters were in use during your stay in September.

Lovely cottage in a stunning village

We stayed in a lovely cottage with all the comforts needed such as dishwasher, microwave, wifi etc. The owners were very helpful and supplied all the information needed. The village is nearby Shaftesbury and close to all sightseeing places. Recommended to everyone.

fantastic cottage and village

Arrived in East Knoyle it is a very friendly pretty village with a wonderful community shop, that has very good produce and friendly staff, all unpaid which is wonderful... Dayspring cottage was as good as I had expected, a home from home... there was everything you would need to make the holiday perfect.... cosy, clean and fast wifi.... neighbours were very friendly and the garden was full of birds... I put a bird feeder up and hope other holiday makers will fill it with fatballs :D sadly I had to leave a day early as my cat was taken ill and needed an urgent dental op... I was very sorry to have to leave as there is so much to do in the lovely market towns nearby.... also the walks across the fields were great and I made friends with the bullocks that graze there..... I would highly recommend this lovely holiday retreat :D

Beautiful village charming cottage

Cottage was quaint and peaceful ; village and surroundings picturesque.

Little extras such as walking maps and CDs appreciated however the cottage would benefit upstairs from a little. TLC. Basic cleaning had been undertaken but the oven had been left dirty from previous occupants. Owner and caretaker provided good friendly service,Friendly neighbourhood. An enjoyable experience overall.

50 minutes to South Coast/Poole Dorset. Attractive, sandy beaches

The cottage will be ready by 2pm on your first day unless arranged otherwise. There is reserved, off road space for one vehicle
We ask guests to vacate by 10.30am on their last day to allow linen to be changed for following guests. We can be more flexible over dates and times 'out of season'.

Changeover Day:
Saturday. However, we are as flexible as possible, especially 'out of season'. Daily rates pro rata.

We will be happy to offer a discount for two week bookings or longer at any time of year. From the verybeginning of December including Christmas and New Year the cottage is tastefully decorated with Christmas tree, garlands and candles. There is always a large supply seasoned logs available throughout the autumn, winter and spring - donation requested. Logs included in price at Christmas and New Year and for 'Winter Warmer Weekends' in December.

  • Notes on accommodation: Book direct with owners to save £60 per week on online booking price and £200 for two weeks. The cottage will be clean on arrival. We ask guests to clean throughout before leaving. With notice, we can arrange for cleaning to be carried out after you have left. This may not always be possible during the peak seasons when change over is often immediate. However, please make the request in good time and we will seek to arrange. We do not ask for a deposit for possible damage or failure to clean properly. We have found that trust between ourselves and those staying is rarely compromised. Outside: Garden furniture (table, four garden chairs and bench). Utility Room: Well equipped. Washing machine/ dryer combo. Dyson vacuum cleaner, brush, mop and general cleaning materials, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen, towels and tea towels are included within the price. Beds will be 'made up' before you arrive. We trust guests to clean through the cottage before leaving.
