About the property

House in Marigot Bay, St Lucia - The White Turtle, Marigot Bay, St Lucia

The White Turtle is a luxury two bedroom house with private pool located in Marigot Bay, Saint Lucia. It is situated in one of the most beautiful locations of the Caribbean. Tucked away in an exclusive setting in Marigot Bay, it looks out over lush green forest and the bright aqua blue of the Caribbean sea.

The White Turtle is situated in Marigot Bay, the picturesque small inlet famously used as a filming location for the popular childrens film ‘Dr Doolittle’. The house is a 15 minute walk from the main Marigot marina and neighbouring La Bas beach, and only a 5 minute stroll down to the secluded cove of Trou Roland.

We had such an amazing trip and it was made all the better for having such a lovely house to come home to at the end of the day.

Sophie McCarthy.

A beautiful house in a great location. Sitting on the terrace watching the sunset with a gin and tonic just can’t be beat!

The house has great views of the sea, friendly visiting birds, and the best bit was the pool which the children loved!!!!!!

Stunning views, beautiful pool, stylish design and immaculate presentation - The White Turtle has it all.

The perfect villa in St. Lucia

  • 5 of 5

We (three adults) stayed at the White Turtle. It was such a beautiful and peaceful villa--the photos did not do it much justice. The pool was of a perfect size, great for morning and evening laps. There was even a nice outdoor shower for a quick rinse after using the pool. The view on the first floor balcony was spectacular--I especially enjoyed sipping a cold drink, while reading a booking and watching the sun set at the Marigot Bay. Beds were comfortable. Many amenities were provided for. There was even a welcome packet with pamphlets and brochures about excursions and activities on the island. Sabina welcomed us to the villa, showed us around, and graciously answered our many questions about getting around the island. We concluded that we will definitely return to St. Lucia and to the White Turtle. What a great trip and what a great villa!

Truly wonderful house that you're sure to love

  • 5 of 5

Congratulations – the White Turtle IS the villa you are looking for. Just book it now! We stayed here for 2 weeks over Christmas – 2 x grown-ups and 1 x 10 year old girl. The White Turtle is a beautiful, contemporary and extremely comfortable villa - with a superb pool, wonderful view - and a great team of people looking after it. The villa "made" our trip, which was our first to St Lucia - a truly special vacation - and even now, some weeks afterwards - we're still talking about it and making longing happy sighs when we think about our time there. The living area has huge fold back doors on to a large wrap around balcony, with superb views over the Caribbean sea and down to the pool and gardens - this, during the day, rather makes the outside and the inside pretty much the same place - and it's wonderful. At night these close fully to create a large and comfortable living area. At ground floor, the bedrooms both open on to beautiful sun-drenched decking of their own, the main bathroom (which is shared between both rooms) is very comfortable - with doors that open up to another showering area outside, which is stunning and filled us with joy. Imagine showering outside, in the warmth of St Lucia, surrounded by plants, overlooking tropic gardens. It's great. Dan, the owner was extremely easy to deal with - and Sabina who manages the house on a day to day basis, *was as helpful as it is possible to be* - and we liked her a lot. The house was spotless. One day the gas hob developed a little fault, and it was fixed near instantly. Dan and Sabina also arranged for us to have a great meal cooked AT THE HOUSE by local chef and master-of-all-trades Davey - a highlight of the stay there (do this if you get the chance). Is this super-fancy with lots of bling- no! Is it well appointed, comfortable, clutter-free and contemporary -yes! Having stayed in, probably hundreds of vacation rentals around the world, I can honestly say this was one of the best experiences. On a practical note, the Internet was fast enough to watch Netflix/Amazon Prime (we watched the whole of the OA on Netflix in the evenings - give it a try!) - the hot water was plentiful, the kitchen is well stocked full of equipment (we cooked Roast Beef and Yorkshire Puddings for Christmas Day). We also felt very safe and secure at the house both day and night. The White Turtle - we will miss you. If you're looking for a great house in this part of St Lucia - you've found it.

Peaceful and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We a couple and we made a last minute booking at the White Turtle after exploring the hotel options on the island. The house provides a very comfortable, quiet and picturesque environment. The sliding door that opens to the patio is a great feature - we spent the evenings enjoying the sunsets. Sabina, the house concierge, was very helpful.

A few recommendations for those who are planning the trip.

You will want to rent a car to explore the island - a 4x4 is pretty much a must to get to many locations.

The nearest small but nice black sand beach is Anse Cochon - ~20 min drive on the way to Soufriere. You will need to park on the road and walk ~5 min through the woods. No rentals, but a beautiful setting.

The nicest beach on the island is likely the sugar beach located between the Pitons. ~1 hr 15 min drive. The setting is lovely. Park at the top of the Sugar Beach resort and get a tuk-tuk ride down to the beach. Beware, the beach restaurant is a an utter rip off, but you will need to spend some money to get a ride back up to the car.

The Rum Cave at the Capella resort in Marigot Bay turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Great drinks and nice portions..

Our thanks again to Dan and Sabina.

P.S.: Keep the cats out of the house - they are not house trained.

Great villa with wonderful view and pool

  • 5 of 5

Had a fantastic two weeks at White Turtle. Great location for exploring the island, (we had a car) as well as easy/pleasant walk down to Marigot Bay which has some very good restaurants. (Rainforest Hideaway / Chateau Mygo / Masala.)

The owner Daniel was very helpful in the run up to the holiday.

The villa is nicely laid out, with everything you could need, being clean and fresh. The kitchen is showing a few signs of wear now, but has everything you need plus some nice extras such as sealable food storage, coolbag, smoothie maker etc. The views from the balcony are lovely whatever the time of day - we ate all our meals outside. We loved the modern design and feel of the villa, but its position doesn't give it the best breezes to cool down the heat, (August visit) so the fans provided are essential. It's in a quiet location, so noise isn't a problem. Mosquitos in August weren't too bad considering. Cans of repellent were left to spray up bedrooms in the evening, which seemed to do a pretty good job.

The pool is a really good length, (10m) and depth. Our 11 yr old daughter spent a lot of time in it, but being generally quite deep you need to be a confident swimmer. Gardens beautifully presented.

Sabina, who is the contact on the island is very helpful should you require anything or information.

Trips to Pigeon Island, lunch at The Pink Plantation, Soufries and boat charter to The Pitons is well worth it.

I would recommend this villa and location.

Awesome house awesome people

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for our honeymoon and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. We actually chose St Lucia because of this house, we had 3 or 4 other locations on the list and this one beat them all. Daniel was quick to respond to every question we had about the place and offered up some very useful information. Initially he had told us that the standard method of payment was a wire transfer, we let him know that we were not comfortable wireing money to an account (which is the standard way of payment in the Europen countries), and that we had used the Book it Now feature on Home Away for other properties and preferred to do it that way. Within 24 hours he had established an account and had the Book it Now feature added to his property just for us, so we booked it that night without hesitation! He provided a welcome packet with guidelines and information for the house and the island through an email, and had a ton of current brochures at the house. We were able to drive our rental car straight to the house without missing a turn based on the directions he had given us. The drive up to the house was awesome, extremely secluded and it's on the side of a hill with a sunset view that can't be beat. We were greeted by Sabina when we arrived who was very friendly and helpful, and a great resource for things to do and places to go on the island. She stopped by half way though our stay as promised to check in on us and make sure everything was going well. We made use of the pool and the kitchen everyday, and had no complaints. When we booked our stay there was a note that the house was all 220v outlets so the wifey had to leave her hair dryer/straightener/curler at home, however, if you were planning on bringing anything that needs a 120v outlet you'll be just fine as there are 120v outlets in the bathroom and the kitchen. The location was great, we walked to Marigot Bay a few times, and the drives/rides to the other towns to the north were not that far at all. On our last night there we had Davey come to the house and cook us a meal. We would have booked him every night had we done it the first night! That was the best meal we had on the island! Davey was great company, very outgoing, and knew everything about the island. You can't stay at the house and not book at least one night for him to cook a meal, or to guide you on a trip on the island. Everyone associated with the house made it a great stay.

We always talk about making another trip.

Great location, spacious and relaxing property

  • 5 of 5

My wife and 2 kids spent 8 glorious days at White Turtle. Daniel, the owner, was very helpful and responsive pre trip which was great as it was our first visit to St Lucia. This was complimented by Sabina, villa concierge, on arrival and during our stay. The 2 bed villa was surprisingly huge and spacious. The swimming pool provided endless fun times with our kids. And just a short walk/drive to Marigot Bay.

A top spot for couples and families.
