About the property

Lodge in Beeswing, Dumfries 2 bed Kitchen Lounge bathroom, washing machine fully equipped 40 inch tv rural quiet

Cherry Lodge is delightfully situated in open countryside with views and patio facing south.

It is 6 miles from Dumfries town which has lots of facilities including all the main shops and supermarkets

lesiure centre, theatre and more.

There is a small enclosed garden for your children or pet to enjoy.The lodge is well equipped for your holiday including washing machine and 39"TV DVD with a variety of films and books.

If you need to bring a wheelchair or pram there is access by ramp to the front door with wider than average interior doors.

Central heating ,cooking and linen for the beds is provided free of charge.(no towels).

The area of Galloway is a "dark sky area" The lodge is equipped with a telescope which you are welcome to use but please do not take away from the Lodge itself.

There are lots of walks in the area and forest access from the site to forest walks

The seaside is approx 20 minutes drive to the pretty village of Kippford where you can eat at" The Anchor " and walk the Jubilee path to Rockcliffe.

There are lots of brochures in the lodge including info for The adventure Centre at Loch Ken .Red kite Visitor Centre Laurieston . And lots more .

Loch Arthur organic shop and cafe is is approx 1 mile from Cherry Lodge and is a must for all things organic .

Dumfries has an excellent visitor centre where they will help you to get the most out of this lovely part of the country.

Dogs are allowed with an extra payment of £12 per pet.

Please do not allow dogs on to the furniture .

All dog waste must be scrupulously collected from the garden and site.

There is patio furniture for eating out and a washing line.

The Lodge is great for Autumn and Winter holidays as It is warm and comfy with a 39inch tv with "free sky" and if you need any extras or a take away, Dumfries town is just 10 mins away on a fine road.

When visiting this area you will be amazed by the lovely countryside accessable by great roads and little fact it is an absolute pleasure to drive around this area.

We have yet to see any midges about the site in the ten years since we have been here,and Southern Scotland as a whole is remarkably free of the little blighters excepting in the moors and mountain parts.

The 7 staines cycle track is a real favourite round these parts.The paths go on for miles through beautiful countryside and if you are interested in birdwatching ,the flocks of Canada geese on the RSPB reserve at Caerlaverock and the Red Kite visitor Centre at Laurieston is a must .You can also see Red Deer in the hills near Clatterinshaws Loch.

My husband and I have owned Cherry Lodge since 2006 We have always loved Scotland and decided to buy the lodge to visit our family who live not far away. We are Dog lovers and love to walk the miles of tracks around our area. Any help you may need re touring, places of interest, dog friendly pubs etc. We are here to help just give me a ring.

Why june Cherry chose Dumfries

Dumfries and Galloway is a lovely rural area with great roads. Dumfries town is approx 6 miles away so in the unlikely event of bad weather!! We can always enjoy the cinema theatre, and shopping in town

Getting to the lodge is a breeze!

Our journey from North West England couldn't,t be simpler

Straight up the motorway which is lovely driving in itself

Then along the Solway coast, takes us about 3 hours with a short stop at Tebay services (excellent)

Most people going to Scotland head off north without giving Dumfries a thought ,but it is a lovely area without the traffic,midges,(mostly!) and generally near the coast has a mild and clement climate.

What makes this chalet unique

The Lodge is very conveniently situated for getting into town (6miles 10 mins) for shopping . M&S and Debenhams are there. There is a great new swimming pool and sports centre. Historic castles and building around about

The nearest beach is about 20 easy driving minutes away at Sandyhills

That is one thing you will really notice about this area.The roads are great with very little traffic even in Summer.

It's really a treat to drive out

Cherry Lodge is child and doggy friendly being completely detached with an enclosed fenced garden and paved area and surrounded by rural farmland rolling hills

There is a ramped access to the front door for wheelchair users and mobile phone reception is reasonably good

We hope to have wifi in Spring 2014

Not so much a Holiday Home but a Home from Home

Lovely homely lodge. Impressions of the owner staying here on a regular basis as everything we expected and much much more was in the Lodge. Very warm and cosy in winter. We were here over 'one of the coldest nights' of the year but it's very easy to keep the lodge warm. Full size cooker and fridge with small freezer compartnent. Plenty of implements to cook with. Good sized TV with plenty of channels. Spare blankets in the wardrobes (well needed for us as we don't use heating in bedrooms). Comfortable supportive pillows - not always a given. Easy, 5 minute walk to the woods, away from all traffic, so ideal if you have dogs with you. Good communication from the owner and all queries answered quickly. We found the lodge to be very good value for money, as it has everything you need for a week's stay for the same price as a long weekend in a hotel or even a caravan. Although compact, it never felt small or crowded for 4 of us plus 2 large dogs.

A beautiful cosy well equipped lodge with stunning views

We all (2 adult 2 teens & ozzy the akita) had an awesome time at cherry lodge. It was so warm & cosy & made an excellent base for our daily trips. Beautiful beaches a short driving distance away and all set in fabulous countryside. Would definitely recommend this place and will be returning next year!

Lovely property & location
