About The Owner

Sally and I started building our dream home in 2006. We have lived there for the last 9 years, enjoying all its delights - cooking on the Aga, sitting in front of the open fire and watching the wildlife and the gorgeous views from the terrace. Now we have decided to see some more of the world before we retire, so plan to spend time on a barge on the French canals.

The Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why The Owner chose Kent

Syndale Lodge is set in beautiful old park land with ancient oaks and horse chestnut trees all around. The views over the Syndale Valley show hop gardens and cherry orchards as well as spectacular sunsets. All this and only a mile from Faversham, medieval market town

What makes this house unique

The beauty of the countryside but only a mile from a charming medieval market town of Faversham. Under an hour to London on 'the bullet' train to St Pancras. Close to Channel ports of Dover and Folkestone, as well as The Channel Tunnel

Stunning unique holiday home

  • 5 of 5

We booked the house for a large group of 15 friends and it couldn't have worked out any more perfectly. Sally and David were beyond welcoming, even picking us up from the station on arrival. The house is wonderful, with so many thoughtful and beautiful touches, from the fresh flowers in every room to the art on the walls. The rooms are all very spacious and most of them have en suites. There were multiple communal areas and a great dining table. The garden overlooks rolling hills and countryside which was delightful to look out on to as we lounged on the grass or in the specially ordered hot tub!

I will most detinitely be returning to this magical house, we really didn't want to leave come Sunday morning! Thank you David and Sally!

Beautiful place to stay, can't wait to come back!

  • 5 of 5

We recently booked Syndale Lodge for a 3 night hen weekend. We were looking for somewhere we could relax and have a girls weekend and the Lodge didn't disappoint. We were met by Sally who was very welcoming and gave us a tour of the lodge and contact details, as well as local information and taxi numbers (very useful). The kitchen, dining area and lounge are very spacious and the kitchen extremely well equipped. The rooms are all lovely, each with their own unique feel (I enjoyed staying in 'Narnia' - the room is accessed through a 'wardrobe' - would be great fun for kids! ). The veranda and sun room were lovely for sitting and chatting or relaxing and the views were fantastic. There were thoughtful touches everywhere, including fresh flowers, a huge bowl of fruit and shelves of books, making the place feel homely. There were 10 of us staying and we all had plenty of space (plus no problems with the boiler/showers), we found the place to be very clean and tidy. The lodge felt very peaceful and tucked away, but Canterbury was only a short drive (15-20 mins) for shopping and exploring, tesco superstore about 7 min drive for stocking up. We also found one or two pubs close by! We are very keen to come back individually with our families (and hopefully at some point for a relaxing girls' weekend!). A massive thank you to Sally and David for letting us stay in their beautiful lodge.

Large property in lovely location

  • 4 of 5

Just spent a wonderful week in this property with our family. It accommodated our large group of 9 adults and 3 children well. The property is in a beautiful location and within easy reach of plenty of places to visit plus only half an hour drive to the beach. We will definitely visit this area again. A lovely touch was the flowers and fruit bowl waiting for us on our arrival. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of crockery and glasses. Our only negative comment would be that the property and garden was not really safe for our children which were all under three. The garden was not secure and needed a gate at the side of the property and as the house is over different levels with three sets of stairs off the main living room, stair gates would have been useful. The Aga was great, but was another hazard with toddlers because it was hot to touch at all times. Babies and older children would be fine.

Dover Castle, Whitsable, Herne Bay and Camber Sands are all worth a visit. Wingham Wildlife Park is a great place to take the children.

Large, beautiful house in relaxing environment

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at Sally and David's house for a very relaxing, long weekend with 15 adults and 1 small child. It's a beautifully furnished house that easily accommodates for a large group of people, it felt like a home away from home. We enjoyed the lovely bed linen, fresh flowers and the large bowl of fruit that was kindly provided. We prepared dinner on the Aga for all of us, a pure delight for every foodie! Communication with the owners was very smooth. We discovered the area and had a great stay, highly recommended! Thanks again for having us!

Very spacious and comfortable house

  • 5 of 5

We had a large family gathering at the house for a few days in July, we loved sitting out on the verandah at the back on the big wooden chairs overlooking the valley. Inside the house is very comfortable with lots of space to sit and eat, interesting decor in all the rooms and bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Beds are comfortable with nice linen. The fresh flowers everywhere and a welcome bowl of fruit were nice touches. The only minor inconvenience is the rather variable water pressure when more than one person is running water. We had some nice walks from the house and also went to Whitstable for seafood and a swim and into Faversham where we ate a good lunch at the Italian restaurant by the creek. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly and responded quickly to any queries.
