Cosy Cottage. Log Stove, Private Walled Garden, Coastal Walking From The Door.

Overview

Property

Updated: 03-Dec-2016
Cottage in Treleddid Fawr, St Davids, Coastal National Park - Peaceful Secluded Hamlet, One Mile To Beaches And 15 Mins Walk To The Coast Path. Short Breaks from £120 for 2 nights.

Chapel Studio, in Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, is a warm, homely, stone studio cottage to sleep one or two people at the road’s end in Treleddid Fawr. This small quiet hamlet is perched on the south facing slopes of the rocky outcrops of St. Davids headland with views across the Atlantic Ocean to Skomer, Ramsey and other offshore islands. The coast path, isolated seal breeding coves, Whitesands and Porthmelgan beaches and iron age settlement on St Davids Head are easily accessible by footpath. Originally the caretaker’s cottage for the adjacent chapel, (which was built in 1834 and is now the owner’s home), it retains original stonework combined with rich woodwork and large south facing windows overlooking its own enclosed garden. For 20 years the studio has provided a quiet hideaway cwtch in private mature wooded gardens with wifi, coastal walks from the door and all the amenities of St Davids less than two miles away. (OS Map Ref SM 753 278)

Short breaks are available from November to March from £120 for 2 nights. Please note prices for stays of more than one week are the sum of the individual weeks and not as shown on this price guide, so please enquire.

This is a beautifully presented and quiet/private place to stay. Also very close to the coastal path and beautiful beaches around St David's. We loved it and were sad to have to leave and return to the craziness that is London!

Peace and tranquillity

  • 5 of 5

Very well equipped, tastefully modernised and comfortable studio/cottage in the tiny hamlet of Treleddyd Fawr in Pembrokeshire coast national park, 5 minutes drive from St David’s and glorious Whitesands Bay and totally peaceful. I always come in the winter, but I know the area is wonderful in the summer too, having had a few caravan holidays here in the 1960s and 70s. Great for hiking with some wonderful coastal path walks right on the doorstep, or relaxing or (like me) writing in total peace and seclusion. Hosts Anne and Stuart in the house next door are tactfully unobtrusive but always very helpful if needed. Wifi is excellent and the wood-burning stove is very easy to light (honest). The honey from Anne's bees is great too! Advice to guests: stock up on food on your way here in Morrisons in Haverfordwest. The supermarket in St David’s is OK for the basics, but is fairly small.

Warm cosy cottage. 20min walk from coastal path

  • 3 of 5

Lovely cosy cottage, only 20min walk from stunning coastal paths. Description of cottage was accurate. One room containing kitchen area with cooker, fridge etc. 2 comfortable armchairs next to solid fuel wood burner, which made the room warm and comfortable. (Follow directions for lighting this otherwise it can get a bit smokey!)

Double bed in other side of room was very comfortable with firm mattress and memory foam topping - which made it so comfortable and welcoming after walking for hours along the coastal paths.

Good shower/bathroom facilities, and everything was lovely and clean.

Small enclosed garden, which is a beautiful sun trap and secluded. Even has its own resident robin that flies down for crumbs every time he saw us sitting on the bench! Also had good off road parking facility.

The path from the cottage to the National Trust Coastal Paths took about 20min to get there. It is uphill, then level, then a fairly steep decent to the cliff, so a degree of fitness is required. You will be rewarded with the most spectacular views and the highlight of our holiday was seeing the seals with their new born pups, lying together in the sheltered bay just below the cliff. We were blessed with sunny weather all week and visited the seals every day. We even saw a pod of porpoises nearby whilst sitting on the rocks, and lots of bird life above the coastal paths, including peregrines, kestrels, buzzards and red kites.

We visited St. Davids, Ramsey Island boat trip, Woolen Mill and Studio Pottery - all very close to cottage. We cant recommend any pubs as we were happy to do our own self catering in the cottage, though we can recommend Sunday lunch at St Davids Cathedral refectory - good value for money.

We have had a lovely stay. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and have already done so with people we met whilst on our coastal walks. We hope to return one day.Thank you Stuart and Anne for a lovely holiday.

Owner's Response: It's great to see guests making the most of the studio. Well done. It's always a danger when guests have the same stove model that they assume it will behave like their own. I will start pointing out to any Morso owning guests that all chimneys are different which is why we provide instructions for lighting. All suggestions help future guests.

Fantastic property, location and experience!

  • 5 of 5

A friend and I stayed for a couple of nights. This lovely little cottage was exactly what we needed to escape from the busyness of life! The location was fantastic which meant we could walk from the doorstep to locations of outstanding beauty but were also a quick 5 minute drive (if that) to st Davids with all there is to see and do there. We would come again in a heart beat! Everything we needed was provided and things we hadn't even thought of! Thank you very much for a few days of restoration and beauty! We will be back!

Cosy little hideaway.

  • 5 of 5

Just a brief note to say how much we enjoyed our stay in this beautiful little hideaway. The weather did little to dampen the experience, in fact it gave us an ideal excuse to light the lovely fire after a day at the mercy of Mother Nature's most magnificent autumnal storms (Abereiddy beach is a must!)... So cosy! Stuart was most welcoming, handing over all necessary details on our arrival, and Anne has been wonderful on the email communications front through booking etc. The bed was so comfortable and such a simple pleasure as going to sleep with the soft warm glow each eve has us longing to return. A wonderfully peaceful nest and ideal for a week's well earned rest. Would we recommend? Definitely! Oh...and their honey is simply gorgeous, so whilst you're there, purchase a jar or two.
