The Escape and the NEW Haven at Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire Moors, England

Set in the heart of rural Yorkshire, The Escape offers spacious, luxury, self-catering holiday accommodation for 2 people. ( there is a very comfy snug sofa bed if you want 4 or put them in our BNB!)

The 30 foot living space is fitted with all the mod cons including a designer wood burner and under -floor heating as well as granite work tops.

The bedroom has a huge 7ft Seventh Heaven bed that can be split into twins. It has a designer bathroom with a great shower in the bath. Outside the huge picture bio pending doors is a lovely south facing decking which is just ideal for you to soak up the tranquillity and the 25 views. It really is an Escape!

"The Haven " is our new house with wonderful views as well as space and privacy. Designed for up to 6 people in three ensuite bedrooms. (There is a very comfy sofa bed to allow a maximum of 7). This again has a 30 foot living diner but has a separate kitchen with a range cooker and marble work tops.

Just recently converted, in a loving and sympathetic style, The open plan living dinning room is 30 foot long and has all the mod cons one would expect, including a sonos sound system. The underfloor heating and the high ceilings are complimented by the modern wood burner. There are three bedrooms ensuite, two with five foot Seventh Heaven double beds and one with twin beds. They all boast lovely views and old beams to give them real character.

All the bath and shower rooms are modern and use the latest designs. The double rooms boast huge walk in showers while the twin room has a double ended bath. All the furnishings reflect Philip and Jane’s love of the eclectic and their passion for travel. Many of the pictures are original works of art from all over the world. We love to mix beautiful unique antique furniture with modern designs. The views from the private enclosed patio, with it's own barbecue, extend onto the moors, this is a real haven!

We do accept well behaved dogs in both properties, but you need to contact us first for the conditions of visit and the cost.

Perfect Escape for New year

Exactly as described and what we wanted for our new years eve wedding anniversary - somewhere peaceful and luxurious! Comfortable and cosy, tastefully decorated and with lots of generous little touches (not least a 7ft bed). Thanks to Jane, who was really welcoming and offered just the right balance of attentiveness and privacy to suit us. The location is tranquil and access is easy by car or on foot, if you fancy a mile or so walk into the nearby villages, Kirkbymoorside and Gillamoor (flat walk and manageable with a leg recovering from a recent op). Loads of good places to eat and visit in the area, so it is an ideal spot for exploring the geographical and culinary delights of North Yorkshire! We've already booked a return stay!

Very Relaxing!

had a very relaxing break here, lovely barn conversion to a high standard, fabulous wood burner makes for cosy evenings! The bed was soooo comfortable! A real getaway in beautiful surroundings. Thanks Jane for a lovely weekend and the brownies!

Christmas break

We spent a wonderful week at "The escape" the accomodation was superb with all facilities that could be desired.

The cottage was cosy and warm with underfloor heating and a log burning stove, the owner supplied a lovely starter supply of butter, bread, fruit juice and wine etc even a small Christmas cake.

Nothing was too much trouble for Jane ( the owner ) and we were made very welcome. On the whole a very lovely Cristmas, we would certainly recommend the cottage, and hoping return in the future.

We had a wonderful week at The Escape. It was very comfortable and clean with lots of fresh flowers. The fridge had been stocked for our arrival which was really helpful and Jane is a fantastic host.

There are good walks directly from the property and plenty of places to visit, along with a good selection of pubs serving good beer and food.

Definitely to be recommended if you want a relaxing and peaceful break.

From the Owner

My husband was born on the farm and this property was always his favourite. It needed so much work doing to it including new water pipes, roof, plumbing, heating and electrics. But it was the magnificent view that kept us going. On a clear day it is easily over 25 miles of rolling countryside. The changing seasons all bring their own pleasure to it and we have tried to design the Escape with this view in mind. The huge picture windows open out so in Summer there is an amazing inside outside feel to the place. The three footpaths from the garden, the private tennis court and billiards room for your use. We arrange meals on request and be available for a Tesco direct order from 10 to 2 on the day of arrival.

From 1st April until 2rd November 2015 we charge £95 per night (three night minimum) or £500 for the week. From 3/11/2015 until 31/3/2016 we offer three night breaks at £80 or £410 for the week. Dog price on request. Christmas, new year prices available on request.

  • Notes on accommodation: There are numerous things to do in the area. Including visits to traditional villages, buzzing market towns, golf courses, Kirkbymoorside is only a mile away and has a lovely Wednesday market as well as good local shops. Local attractions such as Castle Howard and Dalby Forest. Explore the stunning North York Moors by foot, wheel, horse or bike. Excellent shooting and fishing is available nearby and can be arranged. Ryedale has delcious food available; whether gourmet or fantastic pub meals. James Martin has just opened his new resteraunt at Malton, twelve miles away. Our hope is that you will leave, agreeing with all previous guests that a few very restorative days are had at the Escape. Outside: Patio, chairs table, barbeque on request. Tennis court for use of the guests. Garden to enjoy. Billiard room for use on request. Utility Room: There is no utility room but a great airing cupboard in the hall way. We also have a large drying room in the main house you can use. There is also a washer dryer in the kitchen. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen, towels,bedding and logs are included. Starter pack in the fridge and tea and cake on arrival. Maid service twice a week and towels put in the bath are changed on request. Honesty box meals in deep freeze and complete pre-shop can be arranged. Other: If you want dates that don't quite fit in with our change over dates please contact us and we might be able to sort you out in our wonderful bed and breakfast.
