Overview

Description

Terazzo Sleeps 5 (1 Bedroom), roof terrace, great views pool, WIFI

Newly refurbished one bedroom apartment with personal eating area and private roof terrace, with good sized pool and lovely mountain views(shared with other one bedroom apartment). we tend to find that with only two one bed apartments, most guests say they often have a private pool!

This property, is light and airy, with a well equipped kitchen containing an oven, hob, fridge freezer dishwasher. There is also a DVD player. The pretty garden and pool area all of which are lit up at night has great views of the countryside with the mountains as a back drop.

You can walk to a restaurant too, where you can dine on the terrace looking at the view, or just pop there for coffee and icecream during the day. For your convenience there are a couple of other basic shops and you can walk to the station!

Very good value, and a wonderful opportunity to find a one bedroom place almost to yourselves. With the price as it is, why not hire both?

About the property

IT9361

A newly refurbished house, split into two one bedroom apartments, one with extra bed in double room, and both with sofa beds in the open plan living/kitchen diners. Both properties have their own outdoor eating areas with BBQ, and the larger also has a roof terrace. The property has brand new pool with wonderful views, which is lit at night, and a pretty garden.

Fantastic option to stay in a rural property but within walking distance of facilities at a great price.

With only two one bedroom properties on site, you will have the place to yourselves most of the time, and if you do want full privacy why not hire both? The price is fantastic!

About Lorraine

We are Fabrizio and Lorraine and fell in love with this fantastic unspoilt, green and mountainous area of Garfagnana many years ago due to the amazing views, the wonderful peace, and the real yesteryear, non touristy feel to the entire area. We achieved our dream of coming to live in this little piece of paradise with our two daughters, 10 years ago. We have been letting properties in the area for 12 years (our own properties , and for others via our agency Tuscan Retreats). We also assist friends running Houses in Tuscany with all their booking administration, so we advertise for ourselves, Tuscan Retreats and Houses in Tuscany, the latter of which has been running for 15 years. We get lots of fulfillment from seeing others fall in love with the area and return to us again and again!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Just wanted to say thanks. The appartment, swimming pool and garden were great - what a beautiful location! We feel so lucky to have stayed there and will definetly return to this part of Italy and use Tuscan Retreats again - I have been telling anyone who listen about it!

AUG 2014

Just a short note to tell you we have a really lovely holiday at the house! The larger apartment we had was much roomier than we thought and the roof terrace (which you should mention in the details as the views are fabulous!) was a real bonus! We sat and watched the deer from there in the evenings Luckily my husband speaks pretty good Italian and we got adpoted by the grandma next door who was charmng. We were regularly given food from the allotment - plums, tomatoes etc and then were also given mushrooms from the woods, freshly picked that day! My husband and I were invited in to have coffee with her one morning and the day we left we gave her a plant just to say thank you. This was followed by a fabulous 'food parcel' for us to take home!. The village was lovely and the shop/bar/pizzeria was great. We had great days out in Pisa and Florence and spent alot of time by the pool!

AUG 2010

We had a great time in Villetta, a shame we could not stay any longer.

Relaxing week in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Villetta Gardino was perfect as we were looking forward for a nice place to relax. The apartment has all the necessary facilities is clean and well maintained. The location is a plus, a 10 min drive takes you to a lovely town where you can find supermarkets and do some sightseeing, also near the villa there a restaurant and a bar that will suffice your needs. The owners are within reach and will help whenever you need, we had a really good week.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that you found all you needed at this lovely apartment and enjoyed the property and location. We have eaten at the restaurant you mentioned and had a great pizza whilst up on the terrace enjoying the view! Ilaria would love to welcome you again. Lorraine at Tuscan-retreats

Beautiful villa in stunning location

  • 5 of 5

The villa was beautiful and immaculate and had everything we needed. It was furnished very well and had plenty of kitchen equipment and crockery - we were really impressed. There was even a washing machine in a separate utility room.

The garden/pool area again was immaculate and still felt private even though there were other houses around. The village itself was lovely and had everything we needed, it was nice to be able to wander down to the bar/shop/pizzeria and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the villa aswell as the location - stunning scenery and beautiful views, especially from the roof top terrace.

Peaceful

  • 4 of 5

We spent 2 lovely weeks here in June. The location and accommodation was just what we were looking for. Very quiet and unspoilt. The family, of which we believe is 3 generations, are friendly and there if you need them. It's great to have a pool however it was too cold for me to use during our stay. My husband used it twice!! The butcher in the village is great for not only his meat but sells bread and a good bottle of red wine!! There are plenty of good restaurants within 10 minutes drive and the location is a good base to visit Lucca, Florence & Barga to name a few

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and we are really glad you enjoyed the apartment and the area! Re the pool, we do do a weekly survey of pool temperature (as the temperature is one of the things owners have to record each week), and the average pool temperature in the area was 26 degrees. However with the outside temperature being SO hot this June, it probably felt cold due to the extent of the external heat! We hope to see you in the area for another stay! Lorraine

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

This amazing appartment is tucked away in the Tuscan Hills and has beautiful views from the appartment. The appartment is modern, with a roof terrace with lovely views, and a swimming pool tucked away in the garden at the rear of the appartment. It is peaceful and totally chilled, with a really lovely bar/resturant in the village which serves the most amazing food and wine at a very affordable price. You will need a car in order to travel and see the beautiful Tuscan countryside and an Italian phrase book (or a phone app to translate!) as the locals although lovely and helpful they do not speak much English. This is an ideal retreat for anybody looking for a peaceful break - I would certainly go back and visit this beautiful place and recommend it to anybody looking for a peaceful retreat.

Away from it all

  • 5 of 5

We rented both apartments this year so that our extended family could holiday with us.

This is the second time we have rented the property. The property, pool and garden are all well maintained and very clean. There was an abundance of fruit trees which the owner invited the kids to eat as much as they liked. The owner even gave us fresh veggies from their veg patch. Great property, with fantastic hosts. Local bar and pizzeria about a 3 minute walk from property. Easy access to local town of Castelnuovo

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

I don't normally write reviews but felt this beautiful place needed one! We only stayed for a week, but the place was amazing - tucked away in the Tuscan hills with a beautiful peaceful garden and pool area, the apartment also had a roof terrace which I felt was an added bonus. The property itself was very modern with a nice kitchen area if you wanted to stay in and cook - however the local restaurant in the town of Villetta was fantastic! The food, service and wine were amazing and to be honest it was not expensive. You really need a car to enable you to visit other towns in the area and it would help if you spoke a little Italian (or make sure you have a translation app on your phone!!) I would recommend this property to anybody wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle and wanting to chill somewhere peaceful. Loved it!! :)

Location

Travel:

Pisa is a 90 minute drive, and is the closest airport

Car hire highly recommended

Distances:

The location is 10 minutes north of the market town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana with its famous Thursday morning market, numerous bars & restaurants. Closer to home, the village of Villetta a 5 min walk away and has a restaurant, bar and a few local shops. The train station is a 5/10 minute walk.

The Golf Course of Garfagnana is only a 5 min drive (6 holes) and the lake of Pontecosi too...

Further Details:

The fully walled mediaeval city of Lucca is an hour or so away, and is a great day out, full of sightseeing opportunities, restaurants, architecture, shopping, opera, and cycling around the walls.

Pisa with its airport, and of course famous for its Duomo and Tower is a 90 mindrive, and Florence with its wealth of history and art is 1 hr 40 mins.

The beautiful mediaeval town of Barga is a 25 min drive, and is lovely to visit, with its cathedral, cobbled streets, great views, outdoor music, and wealth of restaurants....

The National Parks of the Garfagnana, and the local ancient fortress (great for picnics!) are only a short drive away, as is the zip wire course through the trees and of course there are numerous hilltop villages to visit very locally....
