Cottage with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, close to beach and harbour. Shops and pub an easy walk. Great for golfing

Barra Cottage is on three floors, with living room, kitchen and dining, with access to a pretty garden at the rear on the first floor. A very suitable family holiday home.

The ground floor has a double bedroom, also a children's room with twin beds (2ft 6" wide) adjacent to shower /toilet room. At the rear is the utility room with laundry facility. Upstairs on the top floor is a double bed and child's cot.

All bedrooms have TV

Bed linen and towels are provided, but you should bring your own beach towels.

Elie is an ideal holiday location in Fife much loved by generations who treasure its select traditional seaside atmosphere and golf course.

Elie is a long established seaside family resort with a small tidal harbour, an award winning beach, rock pools, and water sports. A bracing golf course. Attractive coastal walks.

A visit to the bird sanctuary on the Isle of May (by boat from Anstruther) - highly recommended, and should be booked in advance.

Elie is a good base for further exploration of Scotland's east coast, even if only for a taste of whiskey at Cambo, a round of Golf at St Andrews, or a view of Dundee's projected Victoria and Albert Museum extension (now started, just over the Tay Bridge), while a visit to Glamis Castle - a little way beyond Dundee is a real delight.

Going south to Edinburgh is just over an hour's drive, allowing that your children do not ask to stop at the Sea World, North Queensferry, or visit the new Forth Crossing View on the south side, from whence you might go west to see the Falkirk Wheel - in which case you will have to see Edinburgh Castle another day!.

Travel: A car is recommended, and you can park in the street.

Elie is one of five coastal villages linked by the Fife Coastal path: St Monans 3miles, Pittenweem 5 Miles, Anstruther 6 miles, Crail 10 miles. The Isle of May bird sanctuary - an historic site visited by boat from Anstruther. St Andrews 10 miles. Dundee 25 miles. Edinburgh city centre 55 miles.

Further Details:

Wide range of very good restaurants and pubs in this area, ranging from fine dining to pub grub. Delicatessan, newsagent, pharmacy, bakery, farm shop, fresh fish (St Monans) all within easy reach. Coop supermarket at Anstruther.

Sailing, wind surfing, canoeing, with tuition available in summer season. Cycle hire.

Tennis, Golf tuition at Elie Sports Centre. Coastal walks and Elie's unique chain walk.

The "Secret Bunker" near Anstruther, also The Scottish Fisheries Museum, and Isle of May excursions from Anstruther harbour.

Kellie Castle (National Trust) near Pittenweem

St Andrews - University, historic sites, Golf Museum, Aquarium, Byre Theatre.

Otherwise, change over day is on Friday

Changeover Day:
Friday depart at 10am, arrive at 3pm or later.
Guests are met by the owner on arrival.

Notes on prices:
Prices are presently at 2014 level, but will be reviewed in Jan 2015 Book early!The minimum stay is 7 nights, except in the low season when shorter visits (min 3 nights) may be arranged. No bookings are taken over Christmas and the New Year.

On receipt of your emailed booking request from Owners Direct a Paypal request is sent to your email address by the owner. For an advance booking a deposit only is needed. Full payment is required 10 weeks before the date of entry. See owners web site for full details. The amount charged covers all facilities listed. .
