Overview

About the property

Cottage in Central St Ives Cornwall. Quiet, Yet Central Location, Minutes From The Harbour, town centre, And Beaches.

Number Six is our much loved holiday home in St Ives. Situated in Mount Pleasant, it is only a couple minutes from Fore Street, The Harbour, and all the beaches. It is charming, stylish, and captures the essence of St.Ives, with our own small collection of original local and regional art on display.

Enter through the front door into the sitting-room, and then through an open doorway to the kitchen/dining-room, and outside, a little private patio, where there is enough space to hang out the wetsuits, and maybe have a coffee. The Kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need, and of course there is a dishwasher and washer / dryer.

Up the cottage stairs is the fresh and light bathroom (with a bath and a shower enclosure) and two chic bedrooms. The double is furnished with a gorgeous contemporary four-poster bed, and the second bedroom has twin beds. (both bedrooms have a TV and a hairdryer.). The house sleeps four people, has full central heating, and unlimited wireless internet and BT TV. The house is very central, yet quietly situated. The World renowned Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, run by the Tate Gallery, is just 100 yards down the lane, and we are close to all the local amenities, beaches and attractions. Number Six is an ideal base for a stay in St Ives, and the chance to enjoy a 'car free' holiday. There are amazing beaches, fantastic restaurants, and wonderful scenery all within a couple of minutes walk. All of our guests have enjoyed Number Six, and we have had wonderful feedback from them.

There are many rental properties in St Ives, but we like to say that Number Six is a real holiday Home, not just another rental.

In the main season, we operate a FRIDAY changeover day, with weekly or fortnightly stays only, but try to be as flexible as we can at other times.

We have no private parking, but Barnoon long stay car park is only 200 yards away, and there is unrestricted on street parking at the top of our lane if you are lucky. Many guests also like to park at St Ives Rugby Club, where you can pre-book a reserved space for the duration of your stay. Contact them direct.

About Michael and Juliet Freedman

We are now almost retired, live in Somerset and have been visiting St Ives all our lives. We love our cottage here - we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Michael and Juliet Freedman purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Michael and Juliet Freedman chose St Ives

Having owned previous properties close to St Ives, we chose to buy Number Six because of it's location and charm. It is very central, yet quietly located. We love being almost in the centre of town, yet away from the hubub! Number Six is a perfect place to enjoy a car free holiday and enjoy the beaches, the walks, the galleries, and of course, the restaurants.

What makes this cottage unique

Quiet, yet central, with wonderful feedback from all of our guests.

Notes:
FRIDAY changeover day in season In common with the majority of houses in St Ives, there is no private parking. The nearest car park is Barnoon, which is about 200 yards away. Nearby on street parking is also available if you are lucky! and the Rugby Club www.stivesswrfc.co.uk/carparking is a good option at busy times. We are happy to accept a small dog (£25 charge), and the house is, of course, strictly no smoking. Outside: There is a small private patio, just big enough for to have a coffee and hang out the wetsuits! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and duvets, including bath towels, hand towels, and tea towels, is provided. Number 6 will be cleaned prior to your arrival and on your departure. A weekly change of linen will be provided for fortnightly guests. Other: The attractive dining room, again with original artwork, leads to the open plan kitchen, and there is a small private patio, where you can have a coffee, and hang out the wetsuits.

Excellent property but parking is a problem

  • 5 of 5

An excellent property in the heart of the town and in close proximity to all of the amenities, bars and restaurants. Parking is an issue if like us you plan to go and explore the area. Do not use the rugby club to park as it is not overnight which we only found out once we had paid to park and then we still had the issue of moving it later on the same day. We would recommend the property look into purchasing a parking permit on the local car parks advertised as these were all vacant but couldn't be used which was annoying. Overall excellent stay and we would return and recommend this property to anyone.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review our house, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay, as we are always keen for our guests to enjoy it as much as we do. Unfortunately, parking has always been an issue in St Ives - it was not built with cars in mind, but we would like you to know that whilst parking permits are advertised, they are very, very hard to come by - we have been on the waiting list since January 2011!

Excellent quality cottage, clean, home from home.

  • 5 of 5

Excellent standard with every detail thought of! Beautifully decorated with some vintage pieces making it more unique and homely than most. We were so delighted to find a quality cottage where a dog would be welcome as well, as this had proved to be a challenge. Michael and Juliet were very welcoming - just a text away! Would highly recommend!

Well positioned homely cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in the cottage. It was homely and very clean and the kitchen was very well equipped. It is very well positioned for the town, the harbour, beaches and beautiful coastal path walks. The owner of the property was very helpful; sharing local knowledge of the area when giving us directions to the property and for parking. St Ives is a lovely town with nice shops and plenty of eating places. Some of the pubs are a little jaded inside but we had good home cooked food in all of the ones we tried. We would definitely return out of season again.

Perfect holiday cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We booked number six for Christmas week and had a lovely welcome with a cream tea waiting for us as well as presents.

The cottage is spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped, it was nice to not to dash out immediately to buy essentials.

We found it very comfortable and homely and a bonus that it’s a few minutes walk to the town centre.

I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone coming to visit St Ives!
