Farmhouse in Gulval, Penzance, Cornwall, England - Peaceful Rural Location, Within Easy Reach Of Beaches, Local Pub And Other Local Attractions

This beautiful well appointed detached farmhouse set in large mature gardens, overlooks Mounts Bay, with views of St Michaels Mount. It nestles between the north and closer south coast of Cornwall, towards which there are many wonderful views. Gulval is a much sought after village on the outskirts of Penzance, and the farmhouse sits just up the hill from here, up a track that affords it peace and seclusion. Up the track from the house is a delightful path that is quite magical. It leads down through private woods to a beautiful winding stream, and you wouldn't want to be anywhere else! Penzance is a 20-30 minute walk or 5 minute drive away, and the railway station is a 20 minute walk down the road. Our home is in a quiet position, but within easy reach of local amenities.

About Noelle Rorke

This has been home to us and our 5 children for over 20 years. It is still our home. The children have now all left home, and we are enjoying spending time when we can sailing, most recently across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. And so we have taken the opportunity to share our home, and our beautiful environment with others.

Notes on accommodation: This is a family home, ideal for families or large groups. Sleeps 10/13. 6 bedrooms, plus a double futon in living room. Cot (provided on request). Also baby chair that attaches to table. We do not accept pets. No smoking is allowed in the house. Outside: The house is set in large mature gardens, mostly laid to lawn, on two levels. There is a ground level 12' trampoline with enclosure, and a tree house set between 3 oak trees. There are 2 small ponds which are usually home to frogs, toads and newts. (Children should be supervised). The patio has a large table, with sunshade, with benches and chairs. There is also a barbecue on the patio. The farmhouse is set 150 metres up a private lane, making it quiet and secluded. There is plenty of parking space. Up the track from our home is a beautiful, private woodland walk that takes you down to a meandering stream. Totally secluded, beautiful and peaceful! Utility Room: Washing machine, sink with drainer, shelving, ample coat hanging space, plenty of room for shoes and wellies, windows to outside. There is a large slate shelf very useful for storing foods. Cleaning equipment. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is cleaned on changeover days, and fresh linen is included. Please bring your own bath towels, or we can provide these for a small additional charge. Other: Large covered entrance with log pile leading to front door. Ante-room leading to back door with plenty of hanging space for coats

Stunning farmhouse in beautiful countryside

A perfect stay in a fabulous location! We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this beautiful family home. The house itself was wonderful - homey, comfortable and quirky and big enough for our large family gathering! It was spotless and well-equipped with everything we needed including many books to read and films to watch for potential rainy days. The living spaces were spacious, pretty and comfortable. The gardens were lovely too - we loved stepping out of the patio doors into gorgeous, green gardens and sitting outside on the terrace or playing games on the grass. Useful local information was provided by Noelle, including directions to the woodland walk by the stream, straight from the door of the farmhouse. Noelle was always quick to respond to any questions we had and made arranging things very easy indeed. We really couldn't have asked for anything more for a very special family holiday.

A lovely home from home

A charming, clean, spacious and comfortable property with lovely gardens. Noelle and her daughter Holly were friendly and helpful. This property would be wonderful for a family holiday.

The kitchen was very well equipped and the AGA made it warm and inviting.

A car is required as its a couple of miles from Penzance and the walk to the village of Gulval is dangerous as the roads are narrow and have no footpaths. However it is a great choice for peace and quiet and an excellent base for exploring this lovely part of Cornwall.

Simply amazing.

We were a party of 7 ladies 2 of which were celebrating their 70th birthdays. When we arrived at the property it was just wonderful, it was clean, fresh and had plenty of room. We each had a bedroom each, which were spotless and very comfortable, the kitchen was large and homely, great for sitting around drinking and chatting,we could then relax in the lounge on one of the big sofas.

It was in a great location, instructions and advice from the owners was excellent and even the weather was good. I would certainly recommend this property.

An excellent holiday house

The house was lovely - sizeable and well laid out, and well equipped. It was extremely clean and all appliances worked properly. The garden is fantastic - the kids loved the trampoline and generally running around in the space.

The house is well situated for a number of local attractions - including a lovely riding stables a few minutes drive away.

I would highly recommend this property.

A great home from home

Well we had a large group with 4 families sharing this wonderful farm house. On the first day the kids run around selecting their rooms and unpacking before exploring the rest of the house and Gardens. Lisa loved the kitchen with the big table and she adored the aga oven. She has so much fun cooking on it. The piano gave us many nights of playing (4 of the kids could play) garden was big enough for a unique game of football. The weather was great ment the men could cook outside on the bbq. Out in the area we had fun evenings in local pubs and back to finish the night playing drinking games around the large table. Would recommend this place anyone and would come back again.

Absolutely amazing

After finishing an 11 hour drive from up north to opening the door at Kenegie Home Farm made the trip so worth it! We were in awe and could not believe the space and feel of this wonderful home. It really feels like a home with the families photographs on the walls, plants and fresh flowers, and many many books. The kitchen is so fanatasic, the dining table is perfect for large families and cooking on the Aga was definitely a good experience for us. The woodland walk is highly recommend, even in the dark with the Stars! Just amazing. The gardens were lovely with wonderful views and our children were impressed with being able to see up close the cows and their calves in the farmers fields..and rabbits in the garden, when they were quiet enough! A perfect location for visiting St Ives, Lands End and many other coves and pretty villages all within an half hour drive. We have been visiting Devon and Cornwall since having our twins 5 years ago and have stayed in many cottages and holiday homes over the years, Kenegie Home Farm is the best we have ever stayed in and I would highly recommend this home from home to all!

Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens are a 5 minute drive down the back road from our home. Chysauster ancient Iron Age village is 2 miles up the road from our property.


We are surrounded on 3 sides by the beautiful beaches that are Cornwall's greatest attraction. Longrock is 20 minutes walk, many other spectacular beaches accessible by car - Marazion (10mins), Porthcurno (25mins), Sennen (20mins) St Ives (15mins), Gwithian (20mins). There are safe beaches for the young or surfing beaches for the more experienced.


Newquay airport 50mins by car

Penzance train station (direct from London Paddington) 5 mins by car

The Ferry port of Plymouth is an hour and a half by car or 2 hrs direct by train. The Port has links to France and Spain.

Connections to the Scilly Isles are from Penzance harbour. There are day trips in the summer.

Use of car is usually necessary in Cornwall. Bring your own or hire one at the airport or train station.

Cornwall's beaches are amongst the best in the world, each with its own charm. The sea around our coast offers opportunities for active water sports pursuits including kayaking, surfing, swimming, snorkelling, diving, wind and kite surfing, and sailing. Explore the beautiful coast and sea life on boat trips from Penzance, which follow dolphins, seals, sharks and even on occasions whales. Fishing trips are also available. There are several nearby stables offering horse riding. West Cornwall is renowned for its artists. Galleries abound in all the local towns and villages, displaying the works of local painters and potters, not to mention the Tate, St Ives and the Newlyn gallery. Gastronomically, there are plenty of restaurants serving excellent locally sourced food that can be enjoyed in some spectacular settings. Booking Notes:
Provisional reservations are held for 7 days. A deposit of one quarter of the rent must be paid within that time in order to secure the booking. The balance of the rent, plus a returnable deposit of 25%, is due 6 weeks before the start date. No reminders are sent. Any late bookings ie. made within 6 weeks of the start date, must be paid in full.
The damages deposit will be fully refunded within 14 days of the end of your holiday, after inspection, less any explained charges

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is normally Saturday. Arrival is after 4pm. Departure is before 10am.
