L'eau de Vie is a well located three bedroom villa with separate shower room, bathroom, and spacious bright living space which leads out onto the patio and pool area. Close to the pretty and historic village of Le Thoronet, L'eau de Vie is 25 kms from the Mediterranean and about 50 minutes from the lakes and mountains of the Verdon area. Le Thoronet is easily accessed by Air through Nice or Marseilles, by Rail through Les Arcs, a TGV stop and by road via the A8 which is only 9 kms away.

Well equipped & spacious villa

We arrived at this lovely villa after a very long drive to be met by Peter, the owner. Despite arriving two hours later than we anticipated he was happy to show us round and also direct us to the nearest supermarket, which was a godsend late on a Saturday afternoon.

The villa itself was very clean and well equipped with everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. There were also a couple of bicycles in the garage which were used most mornings to cycle to the local boulangerie for a daily baguette and pain au chocolat!

All in all a most pleasant stay for which we thank Peter and Shirley.

Couldn't fault it

Just wrapping up after a 9 day break at the Villa and we're all sad to be leaving. Thanks to Peter and Shirley for providing such a high standard of accommodation for our holiday. The villa is in very good order and equipped with all the facilities you need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We have wanted for nothing and my 19 year old son (who blagged his place on this holiday because he's a hard-up student) commented that this has been the best holiday he's ever had. Peter has been on hand throughout our trip to ensure that everything was in order and to provide tips for interesting places to visit. We ventured out a few times to help break the days up (nearby Lourges is an excellent little town for eating, drinking and general people watching) but every hour spent away is an hour you don't get at the villa so we tried to strike a balance. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking to spend some quality time with friends or family. Thanks again Peter

A Lovely week in a spotless clean villa ideally located for chilling out or sightseeing.

From the initial booking, Peter responded to all my questions quickly with all the info I needed. With our flight delayed 1 hour, I was worried we would be looking for the villa in the dark but with the excellent instructions and the villa location ( 10 mins from the motorway direct from Nice ) we found the villa no problem.

On arrival, the villa was spotlessly clean, very comfortable with everything you could need for a relaxing break. A great shaded garden, very large comfortable pool area for sunbathing and a great table for eating out. Although we didn't barbeque in the week we were there, we ate outside every night. There were bikes, table tennis, toys for the kids and DVD's and videos. The rooms were all a good size with comfortable beds and aircon.

The pool area was great, I thing I missed on the booking was that the pool wasnt heated which meant we couldnt spend as much time in the pool as we would have. We arrived too early in the season and although the weather was great, the water temp didnt get above 17/18 degrees ( not for the faint hearted !! ). Having said that, we were only 25 mins from the St Tropez beaches so spent a couple of days there.

The villa is very quiet, perfect for relaxing. Everything you need is just 5 mins away in Le Luc, supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants.

We took the train into Cannes on one of the days, less than an hour each way and also spent a day at Marineworld which the kids loved. We didnt get time to venture inland but what we did see of the surrounding countryside was beautiful.

I'd love to spend more time in the area and would definitely come back to this villa, maybe later in the season when the pool temp is higher :)

Wish I was back there now.......

We are easily accessible by air by most major airlines and it pays to invest a little time checking this out. Nice, Toulon, Marseilles and even Nimes are possibilities, all under 1 and half hours from Le Thoronet.

Access by the high speed TGV is also very easy and you can check this out if you google SNCF. Les Arcs Draguinan is our local station and the TGV stops there, or you can go to Toulon or Avignon.

Car Rental is available at all the above locations; again shop around.


Our local village is Le Thoronet and is less than 5 minutes away and has all you will need, though one good shopping trip to stock up might be worthwhile to one of the bigger towns such as Vidauban or Le Luc which are about 15 minutes away. Please note that shops here do NOT stay open late and close about 7.00pm Some do open on Sunday mornings up until 12.00. If you are arriving late we can help by getting essential provisions for you to tide you over. Please advise us in advance.

Further Details:

There are plenty of good restaurants in the area and part of the fun is exploring these. In the information pack we try and give you a bit of a guide to help you, and as with most things in life, you pay for what you get. Having said that, we have yet to be disappointed; food and eating is what Provence and France is all about, and we also live in a major wine producing area!

  • Notes on accommodation: Our villa is recently decorated throughout and all the furnishings, equipment and linen are of a high quality. We take pride in making sure your stay is both enjoyable and problem free and are constantly available to deal with any questions or concerns you may have. On your arrival you will be shown our welcome notes which deal with just about any situation that may arise. and point you towards all the facilities that are available in the area. We are fortunate to live in a beautiful and warm part of France and if you have not experienced it, the Var is well worth a visit. We have many folk who return to stay with us, simply because they have not been able to see it all and are drawn back to fill in the gaps and to experience again the atmosphere that is Provence; warm days, evenings spent on the patio with a glass from a local vineyard and the simple pleasure of eating outdoors with fresh food fom local markets, Come on down! Outside: Gardens in this part of Provence reflect the climate we enjoy, and we have not tried to create an English Country Garden as it simply does not work. The garden is large, simple and private and mature oaks add to that privacy. There is all the garden equipment you will need, a barbecue, sun loungers, table and chairs for meals, and there are two bicycles available to use. The pool is 11m x 5 mtrs and all at the one depth of 1.6 mtrs which makes it very safe. It is not available to anyone else, only the tenants. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided and the cost is included in the rental price. If you request it prior to your arrival, linen will be replaced weekly for two week lets or longer. Other: There is a secure garage attached to the house which is also accessible from the kitchen if there is a need to store any bikes or other equipment.
