We have been at Monkstone for 20 years and we love it. It's great for walking and we take our little terrier dog Millie on to Dartmoor everyday with longer walks every weekend to coastal footpaths. Brentor is a lovely little village and nearby Tavistock town a great place to shop. It has everything we need and is a really friendly market town with a famous indoor Pannier Market and lots of individual shops many selling the local food products. We converted Monkstone Cottage from a barn to a cottage about 10 years ago and enjoyed making it comfortable and luxurious for holiday guests. The views are wonderful overlooking Dartmoor from all directions. We are nearby and always happy to help with your holiday.
Mrs Jeanette Emmett purchased this cottage in 1994
We bought this house and grounds because we wanted to be on Dartmoor with space and views but also to be near to a town for shopping. We love it because there is total peace and quiet yet it is convenient for the town.
No other place in the area has such stunning views.
I will email a booking form for completion at the time of booking and we require £100 deposit when booking and the remainder 6 weeks before arrival. Payment can be by cheque or bank transfer.

Well equipped, warm cottage with a lovely fire. Great location. Scones on arrival, friendly and helpful owner.
A lovely warm welcome to Dartmoor. The cottage is small but has everything you need. It was warm and cosy and just right for a quiet break after a busy Christmas. Friendly and welcoming hosts. Highly recommended.
Lovely, cosy little cottage with large private garden, perfect for wildlife watching. Thanks to our equally lovely hosts Roger and Jeanette for a very welcome Cream Tea after a long journey and the offer of help/advice should we need it. Local attractions - Monkstone Cottages are on the doorstep of Brentor (St Michael's) - a 15 minute walk and spectacular panoramic views; Lydford Gorge (even more spectacular); Widgery Tor (great walk & option of lagoon for a swim) at Lydford. Eating out - would recommend The Warren Inn, highest pub on Dartmoor. Good food, friendly service, very interesting history. Would definately recommend & hope to return to Honeysuckle Cottage.
We stayed for a couple of nights over the Bank Holiday weekend. As mentioned in other reviews there was a cream tea and milk awaiting us whihc is a lovely touch. The cottage is ideal for investigating the Tavistock area of Dartmoor.
We stayed in Honeysuckle Cottage over a long weekend in April. The location is superb being quite remote but within easy reach of facilities. The cottage itself was ideal for the two of us and dog. Clean, comfortable, warm and with everything you need, we will certainly make a return visit and recommend to others. Owners are very friendly and welcoming.
Very cosy, clean and comfortable. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed. The bathroom is very compact. The owner was away during our visit but left easy instructions and a cream tea. The cottage is in a great location for exploring both coasts and other local attractions.
