Holiday luxury

  • 5 of 5

Had seen the photos on Owners Direct and hoped that it was not a case of creative photography and camera angles, especially as this holiday was a treat for my husbands big birthday. Tada! No need to worry because it's perfect in every way. The living and cooking area is more than adequate for a couple and fully equipped. The bathroom has a roomy bath with shower over and has a lovely high ceiling with a huge heated towel rail. Lovely soft towels, welcome pack and any gadgets you need. Even hair straighteners and hair dryer in the bedroom! Full GCH makes this a perfect property in the colder months.

Everything you need is in walking distance and there is space for parking, but we didn't hire a car as the bus service takes you where you need to go and the travel card is very good value.

We really can't wait to visit again, thank you so much!

Owner's Response: I'm glad that La Petite Maison more than lived up to expectations. It is a home away from home with added extras for comfort and convenience. I have a number of guests who return each year looking for comfort and something a little different, besides proximity to coastal walks and the delights of northern Guernsey. Sarah

Top Quality Accomodation

  • 5 of 5

A first class cottage, well maintained clean & very comfortable. Well worth the 5* rating and we would highly recommend to any prospective holiday makers. The owner (Sarah) is very approachable, kind and helpfull. We found the location excellent, near to beaches / coastal paths, bus stops and 2 x food stores only a 5 minute walk away. Any point of interest can be reached within 30 minutes by car. If you are hiring or taking your own car make it a small one!

We would recommend a visit to Sark with a pony trap excursion round the island. We visited most of the Islands attractions the only one that we would not recommend is the Aquarium which is a complete waste of money.

When we return to Guernsey we will definitely be booking La Petite Maison if available.

A 5 star rating for a 5 star cottage.

We've stayed in many self catering cottages and Le Petit Maison is up there with the best.

We liked the modern interior and the high quality fixtures and fittings which were presented in superb condition - we hope that all future guests continue to treat this cottage with the care and respect it deserves.

The location is good, only a few minutes walk from the coast, beaches, and numerous coastal paths. It is only a short drive to St Peter Port but it is not necessary to go there for food shopping as there is an M&S food store just around the corner.

If you like fish and chips then you'll like the local chippy which is just a 5 minute walk away, and the portions are huge (the half portion of chips should be enough for most people).

Further afield, near the airport, we found that The Deerhound pub/restauarant had some lovely summer seafood dishes on offer, especially the crab spaghetti.

We also recommend that you visit Herm Island, Cornet Castle, and the German Underground Hospital, and if you're there at the right time of year the Torteval scarecrow festival is a must.

Although we had a hire car you could survive without one by using the bus service, or even by walking, some days we didn't need to use our car.

Owner's Response: Thank you. The cottage is well maintained as that's what I expect of the self catering holiday cottages I stay in. The scarecrow festival is highly recommended along with the Castle Nights evenings on certain Fridays in the Summer, with free admission, take a picnic and listen to some great music whilst the sun sets. The Rocquaine Regatta, along with the West Show and the North Show are also recommended for those staying on certain dates in August each year.
