A traditional village property sleeping 4/5 people across 3 floors. The cosy living room has a woodburning stove, comfy sofa and chairs and a dining area. The kitchen area is well equipped and includes a washing machine and microwave. A beautiful winding wooden staircase leads to the 1st floor where a large bathroom and 1st double bedroom are situated. A further staircase leads to a light airy mezzanine floor with a table and chairs and a 2nd double bedroom with en-suite toilet. Outside the front of the property there is a seating area and ample parking. There is a pretty enclosed garden with garden furniture and lovely views over the countryside. Small friendly village built around beautiful church. Village comprises an interesting blend of French and English speaking Francophiles, available for guidance if required.

After many visits to this beautiful area of France we found this delightful old property and decided to buy it immediately. We currently live in a 500 year old timber framed house in a village in rural Suffolk in the south east of England and try to use our holiday home as much as possible. On the times we are unable to stay we hope to make our visitors stay as comfortable as possible and have lovely reliable friends on hand to greet and help with any information they may require. We love getting away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives in south east England to the tranquil surroundings of beautiful Normandy where we can recharge our batteries and enjoy everything the area has to offer.

We loved the house, its situation and the fact that it has been renovated so beautifully. The area is so full of variety, whether you want busy towns, culture and serious shopping in Rennes, St.Malo or Dinard or coastal and forest walks, stunning beaches and with little traffic on those rural routes. However, the biggest attraction was the areas' peace,tranquillity and beauty.

The house is quiet but not isolated. There are friendly helpful neighbours, both French and English speaking. The house overlooks a delightful garden across the lane and there is much local information available in the property.

Good value, a typically quirky French Gite
Well equipped and the Welcome Pack a thoughtful addition.
Would greatly benefit from a new mattress in first floor bedroom and the shower does need a reconfiguration.
Have stayed in a number of gites in France over the years and this has to be one of the best. The accommodation is excellent with a real French charm. The location of the property is such that you are not far from many of the Brittany attractions. I would recommended this property to friends.
Lovely house in a beautiful region
This a beautiful old house with 1776 carved into the huge oak beam in the living room, no doubt at the time with a few skillful stokes of the adze.
It has been very tastefully restored whilst keeping its character. All the rooms are a comfortable size and the stairs and landings have a spacious and ancient feel to them.
The house is very well-equipped with all the furniture and kitchen equipment you could possibly need.
Montanel is a pretty village with abundant country walks. We were surprised to find the first three neighbours we met were English, Irish and American respectively, all Francophiles, very friendly and helpful who each explained in their own way that they were living there "because they love it there".
Dinard is quite a fast run from there and Foug?res an easy trip, but there is plenty to see in the region.

Activity and Interests
35 minutes by car to Carolles which has facilities for the whole family, easy parking and lovely sand and rock pools. Also nearby Granville and Joulouville. 45 minutes to wonderful wild beaches of St. Malo, ideal for exploring 20 minute walks around Mont St.Michel coastal area. 20 minutes to the indoor swimming pool at Avranches.
Dinard airport is only 38 miles away. Rennes airport 35 miles. St. Malo 35 miles. Caen 90 miles. Cherbourg 110 miles. Le Havre 130 miles. Roscoff 145 miles. All easy motoring.
St. James 4 miles with everything a small town provides. Pontorson 6 miles, a lively town with restaurants open every evening including winter. Antain 5 miles, a small market town with Carrefour supermarket and petrol forecourt.
Super-U Hypermarket and pharmacy 3.5 miles for all your needs. Banks, doctors and vets are in St. James. Information on daily markets for local produce will be in your welcome pack together with information on the many activities and attractions nearby. This includes walking in the trees or motor boat rides on the lake in the forest near Antrain. Historic Fougeres has the oldest open fortress in Europe. There is horse riding at St. James, lake trout fishing and tennis courts. Indoor swimming pools at Avranche and St.Hilaire Du Harcoet with its sauna and Turkish bath.

Outside: Patio furniture is provided outside the house. The lane leads to 3 gardens. Ours is a secluded, fenced garden area at the end which is lawned and beautifully planted, overlooking fields with sheep grazing on one side and view of village church on the other. There are garden chairs and a table. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels, including kitchen provided. Change of linen provided for those staying more than one week. Other: The second floor landing has a table and chairs for children's activities for example. and toy box.
