Grade II Listed Barn in Higher Clovelly, Devon, England with Panoramic Sea Views - Large Garden

Breathtaking panoramic views across surrounding farmland and stunning sea and coastal views can be enjoyed from this Grade II listed converted stone barn in a secluded corner on a Victorian non working model farm in Higher Clovelly, North Devon. The Byre is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, close to the beautiful Hartland Peninsula and the historic fishing village of Clovelly with its traffic-free cobblestone path down to the harbour. Fine surfing beaches at Westward Ho! and Bude and other beach and seaside attractions are within an easy drive. The historic port of Bideford is 12 miles away with all amenities and boat trips to Lundy Island. There are dramatic coastal paths for walkers and the Tarka Trail for cyclists. Dartington Crystal and Rosemoor RHS Gardens and the family attractions of the Milky Way and the Big Sheep are close by. Golf, horse riding, fishing, surfing and wind surfing available locally.

My wife and I live in Surrey. We have two grown up children and two border collies and we all love to escape the bustle of city life to the tranquility of North Devon whenever we can.

Why Andrew & Stephanie Keeling chose Torridge

We have holidayed in North Cornwall and North Devon since 1987 when our children were toddlers and it has always been our dream to own a little part of this wonderful coastline. in 2004 we saw an advert from an estate agent of a derelict Victorian barn that was to be developed. We were lucky enough to be in from the start and were able to change the plans to suit our requirements although we had to allow for the Grade II listing. I use a wheelchair so we were able to ensure level access to the ground floor and garden.

What makes this barn unique

We love that we are one mile from the A39 with it's easy access to North Cornwall and North Devon, yet we are off the road in a peaceful, rural location with outstanding coastal views that many would drive miles to see.

Fantastic holiday cottage

What a wonderful holiday house this is. Beautifully and tastefully decorated and fantastically equipped with everything you could need for your break away. Comfortable beds, sooooo warm and a lovely garden. Just had a week here with my family of 6 adults, 2 dogs and 2 very small children and it was perfect. The owners are so helpful and friendly, answering all queries super fast. Thank you. We will be back.

Cannot recommend highly enough!

Following on with the theme, we too arrived on a dismal day and was very happy to find such a lovely, welcoming property.

This is a very well equipped and we'll presentation home away from home. There is nothing that you could want for in the kitchen or entertainment wise. We all made great use of the WiFi and digital TV on the days that the weather kept us indoors.

Thankfully we had a good number of sunny days to explore the beautiful surroundings. Whilst the building is remote enough to be peaceful it is ideally situated to jump on a main route between the local resorts.

A fab break in a very nice place. Thanks to the owners. Muchly recommended.

A real find!

Whilst the weather wasn't particularly kind to us during our week's stay, we knew that we could return at the end of each day to very welcoming and comfortable accommodation. The Byre is a beautifully converted building with unusual features such as the second, mezzanine lounge - ideal for shunting the kids into when a little quiet was required by the adults! Everything you could need is provided, from comfortable beds to a very well-equipped kitchen which, as the chief cook, I appreciated (my only caveat being that a knife sharpener would have been useful). The property was very well maintained and spotless. There is a well-stocked and friendly general store (Pop-In) in Hartland for all basic groceries, newspapers etc. ..and cash back when needed. The complementary bottle of wine on arrival was much appreciated! Just one thought: keep an eye on the petrol gauge as there is no garage in Hartland and the nearest ones are either in Bideford or Bude.

An lovely property with excellent facilities.

This property pretty much has it all: a lovely and intriguing (presumably) barn conversion, with lots of character, in an outstanding location. Everything conceivable was supplied to make the stay as painless and fuss free as possible. The complimentary wine was a lovely touch. The property wanted for nothing, was very well maintained. It served our needs perfectly and in this regard we cannot praise it highly enough.

Superb Accommodation!

We arrived to a toasty warm cottage on a cold, rainy night. From the off we were very happy we had chosen the Byre for our short break. Couldn't fault anything about it. It had a well equipped kitchen. Everything was very clean. The bedrooms in particular smelled fantastic. Brilliant selection of games/puzzles/cd's/dvds - which we made good use of! The back garden was massive - big enough for our two dogs to have a nice sniff about. We were inside for most of our stay (really horrible weather!), but we still had lovely 5 days and would highly recommend the Byre to our family and friends.

Absolutely beautiful

We had wonderful stay at The Brye on probably one of the worst weekends of the year very stormy wet and very very windy. That didn't matter one bit from the moment we opened the front door we knew the weather didn't matter. The property was an absolute delight the heating was already on for us so a very warm welcome plus the bottle of wine!! Everything was beautifully presented and very very comfortable. Beautifully equipped kitchen fantastic gas log burner comfortable beds comfy sofas games videos dvds. For a winter break a fantastic place to go as very cosey. The only sad thing was we didn't see the amazing view until Monday morning as we were leaving!! We would also recommend this property as it is a very spacious having also beautiful balcony lounge area .Thank you Stephanie and Andrew for allowing us to be able to stay in your amazing holiday home. We would certainly recommend this property couldn't fault anything at all Graham and Janet Rushforth Mark and Leah Bailey. Bournemouth. Dorset
