About Andrew & Stephanie Keeling

My wife and I live in Surrey. We have two grown up children and two border collies and we all love to escape the bustle of city life to the tranquility of North Devon whenever we can.

Andrew & Stephanie Keeling purchased this barn in 2004

Why Andrew & Stephanie Keeling chose Hartland

We have holidayed in North Cornwall and North Devon since 1987 when our children were toddlers and it has always been our dream to own a little part of this wonderful coastline. in 2004 we saw an advert from an estate agent of a derelict Victorian barn that was to be developed. We were lucky enough to be in from the start and were able to change the plans to suit our requirements although we had to allow for the Grade II listing. I use a wheelchair so we were able to ensure level access to the ground floor and garden.

What makes this barn unique

We love that we are one mile from the A39 with it's easy access to North Cornwall and North Devon, yet we are off the road in a peaceful, rural location with outstanding coastal views that many would drive miles to see.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Had a great week; thanks for the wine.

Hope to stay again sometime. It's a great place to stay.

We had a great week the house was charming and in a great position for all the attractions. the changeable weather didn't spoil what our enjoyment and the house was lovely and warm. We have two active Boys who loved the garden and the PlayStation! Highly recommended for a getaway!

Lovely property, beautiful location

  • 4 of 5

Fabulous break with friends in a spacious, well furnished barn conversion. Big enough for a family of 4 and a family of 3 plus dog. Everything you could need including enough kitchen equipment to cook a belated Xmas dinner! Weather wasn’t great but was still a treat to look out the French doors and see the sea! Highly recommended for a chilled out break in North Devon.

Lovely accommodation but a bit too remote

  • 3 of 5

The accommodation was lovely, laid out well, clean and had everything we needed. Great garden but weather meant we couldn't really get the most out of it. Good views out to the distant sea. The only problem we had was that nothing was within walking distance and no footpaths to walk the dog, it was just too remote for us and we had to drive everywhere. However, the beaches locally are beautiful and our dog loved them, as did we.

Lovely comfortable home from home

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a lovely week with our 5 teenage children and our dog. The Byre is well situated but quiet enough so you will only hear cows or the gorgeous donkeys who live on the farm. The house is comfortable and very well equipped. Wi fi much appreciated by the teenagers. We would highly recommend.

Well maintained property with a huge garden

  • 5 of 5

Ideal for a relaxing break, in the beautiful Devon countryside and midway between the beaches of Bude and Westward Ho. The kids enjoyed the animals and wildlife around the farmyard.
