4.5 based on 17 holidaymaker reviews
Quaintly old fashioned but has everything you need in a lovely setting.
Some confusion about parking which the owner resolved quickly (it is in front of the adjoining house which belongs to the owner and is called Herston house). The village of Trefin (pronounced Treveen) is lovely with a good pub serving excellent food, a coffee shop which does breakfast and packed lunches and easy access to the coastal path. There is a small rocky beach for fishing, a ruined mill and a field with standing stones which make good subjects for photography. The whole area is delightful but we would have benefited from an ordinance survey map and, of course, the weather was glorious. The cottage is next to Herston house. It was very clean with a nice rear garden and had everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed the week and will be back.
basic yet cosy
The cottage was how we imagined, basic but every thing that was needed was to hand. Clean and tidy and comfortable.
Two things I would like to see improve would be the shower, to get the heat right , the shower lacked any power. Also the DVD player seemed to stop working after the second night, jumping and freezing so in the end we could not watch any films. These both could be put right with updating both items.
But apart from this we did have a good holiday with the cottage being a ideal base for exploring.
Lovely Cottage in Beautiful Location
We stayed here in August with our two young girls and our dog. The cottage is lovely and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. The location is perfect and very quiet indeed. We particularly loved the little cove at the bottom of the village. We visit Pembrokeshire every year and hope to stay at Adrian's cottage again.
Very cosy, lovely cottage
The cottage is very nice and well equipped, it has everything you need if you want to cook your own meals, however there is a great pub just down the road, which allows dogs and serves really nice food and a good selection of ales. The owners of the cottage are very friendly and welcoming, they live next door so can be approached if needed. The area is perfect for long walks, the Coastal Path is amazing. Would definitely reccomend this place if you want to get away from everything.
Good cottage, lovely location.
The cottage is well supplied with everything. Trifin is a lovely village and close to major shops, walks with breathtaking walks with stunning views and a short drive to St Davids. The weather was not kind to us but that is to be expected in Pembrokeshire in January.
Very good accommodation, good value for money/
The cottage pictures showed somewhere which looked clean and comfortable, with furnishing which reminded me of holiday homes of my childhood. And that is how it was, very clean, very comfortable and cosy - what more do you want from a holiday home? Everything I needed was provided in the kitchen and there were plenty of books to supplement the ones I had taken with me, excellent when the weather isn't s good. My stay did coincide with one of the winter's storms - very windy, which limited the amount of walking I did. Walked to Abercastle along the road and tried to go on the beach but we were driven back by the wind. My dog enjoyed walking from the village along the coast path to Aberfelin even if we didn't go much further. I loved visiting the Mill cafe. The coffee is good, the flapjack tasty, the sandwiches are thickly filled and tasty. I went in on Tuesday when the cafe becomes the post office and there is special offer for lunch. I only went in for coffee and was tempted back for lunch - an enormous portion of delicious goats cheese and vegetable flan with salad, and then cheesecake. I would definitely recommend the cottage, the area and the cafe, but wouldn't really want too many people discovering this lovely place.
