We believe we have managed to do what many people dream of doing - our own escape to the country! We escaped from the rat race of crowded suburbia, having fallen in love with Beeson Farm, an historic, disused and derelict Devon farm nestling in a wonderfully tranquil valley less than a mile from a wonderful, unspoilt beach. We are a family run business and are delighted to offer you beautifully restored cottages which have retained their character whilst providing every comfort. We have achieved AA 4 stars rating and recommendations from the Guardian, Express and Woman magazine. Our environmental efforts have resulted in being awarded a Gold Green Tourism Award.
We offer a range of quality accommodation which is child friendly, dog welcome or pet & feather free and wheelchair accessible. We look forward to welcoming you to our corner of Devon.
We can now also offer you our beautiful, fully equipped, architect designed villa in Kastellos near Rethymnon, Crete. It is most wonderfully and privately located with stunning views of the Aegean Sea and White Mountains, has 3 bedrooms, 3 bath/shower rooms, fully equipped kitchen, lounge, entrance vestibule and a large swimming pool with roman steps. There is a very attractive pool area with BBQ and pool house which contains a kitchenette and shower room so you don't need to go into the villa when you are settled next to the pool. The villa is surrounded by extensive grounds containing trees, shrubs and pretty flower beds.
Louise Cross purchased this cottage in 1997
Beeson Farm is in an idyllic, peaceful, sheltered South Devon valley. Less than a mile from Beesands beach (with great pub and seafood cafe) we are an ideal base for those wishing to explore the SW coastpath, with its lovely beaches and coves. The local beaches are perfect for swimming, surfing, kayaking and fishing, or for quiet picnics. Although we are in a quiet village- all you can hear are the birds and the occasional tractor, we are not remote - the villages of Stokenham and Chillington with village shops, farm shop, great pubs, bus service and the A379 Dartmouth to Plymouth road is less than 2 miles away. The interesting historic towns of Kingsbridge (7 miles) and Dartmouth (8 miles) offer banks, supermarkets and lots of independent and boutique shops. Many wonderful NT houses and gardens are nearby including Greenway (Agatha Christie's house & garden on the banks of the river Dart). Dartmoor is within easy reach for day trips. We hope to welcome you to our delightful corner of Devon.
Being less than a mile from the beach at Beesands we are ideally situated for walking, spending quality family time on the beach, rockpooling, crabbing and of course swimming in the sea! Children (and adults too!) can play in our play area in the orchard and play table tennis in our games room. We have a badminton net on the lawn in the summer and offer supervised pond dipping in our fenced wildlife pond in the school holidays. There are lovely local green lane and coast path walks, bird spotting, diving, surfing, kayaking, sailing and of course, swimming.
Popular days out include steam railways, boat trips, Paignton Zoo, Plymouth's National Marine Aquarium, Dartmoor and visitor attractions like Woodlands Adventure Park and Pennywell Farm.
At night you can enjoy a superb meal of locally sourced food at one of our local pubs or enjoy a BBQ and star gazing whilst the light from the lighthouse sweeps over the farm.
Just wanted to review - we stayed over Easter which was fantastic . We are a city family who just loved the outdoor space where our children were safe . Our children thought the chickens were the best thing ever running over to the cottage with fresh egg each . We hired a cottage and so did my parents which meant they were at hand to help but not on top of us . We could be seen most evening carrying our evening meal across the courtyard . The cottages are gorgeous and set up even if it rains you will be occupied . The children's welcome pack is well received with colour pencils drawing and nature trails which grandpa had to go on . There is so much to do in the area . Amazing thank you all X Definitely visit the farm shop , tor cross for ice cream , the light house , Dartmouth for a ferry , salcombe and our best day hope cove
Booking Notes:
By proceeding with a booking you agree to book a stay in the Trap House. Please note we have 4 other properties on site at Beeson Farm Holidays.
We had a fantastic stay in The Trap House, Beeson Farm over the Easter weekend.
Cosy, comfortable, clean accommodation, safe outdoor environment for play for our 10 year old, everything was in the cottage we could have asked for (minus towels but luckily we noticed this on the details just before we left home and popped some in our luggage no problem).
The owners were very welcoming and friendly and even laid on a lovely Easter egg hunt around the farm for all of the children.
We had the most relaxing time, visiting beautiful beaches, woodland walks and areas of beauty. Whilst we felt very secluded and in the wilderness, Tesco's was only a 15 minute drive away which we used to stock up on a couple of occasions.
We fell in love with the area (and our cottage) and we will definitely be returning!
We had a wonderful stay at the Trap House, we found everything we needed, the accommodation was warm, cosy and well equipped with anything a family may need! Location is just perfect, description on the website very accurate. I felt at home. Not to speak about the customer service, not common to find such kindness.
Last but not least, I really recommend the location, close to the beach, the amazing South Devon Coastal Path and to the best seafood pancake ever at the Cricket Inn at Beesands village!
The Trapp House is a beautiful cottage, very clean and well equipped and having three bathrooms was ideal.
The setting is perfect too as the kids loved being able to be in the private garden, scooting up and down the path or playing with the equipment and chickens.
We would definitely recommend Lanacombe Bay, Mill Bay and Kingsbridge to visit but there are so many other awesome places locally we want to go back next year and will be looking to re-book the Trapp House with Robin and Ronnie.
Less than a mile from the traditional fishing village of Beesands, your cottage is in a quiet rural location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Beeson Farm is a non working farm but we do have petting animals and chickens as well as sheep grazing in the orchard. We produce our own cider which we are more than happy for guests to try! Beesands beach is also home to an excellent pub and seafood cafe. From here you can take The South West Coastpath towards Salcombe, taking in the breathtaking views from Start Point Lighthouse, or towards Dartmouth. The light from the lighthouse can be seen sweeping over the cottages at night. You will discover a stunning coastline with many hidden coves and beaches to explore. Hallsands, Slapton Sands and Blackpool Sands, Rickham Sands and Mill Bay are all within easy reach of Beeson Farm (less than 15 mins). Further afield are Bantham and Bigbury beaches and Burgh Island - 30 to 45 minutes by car. These are popular spots with surfers.
The villages of Stokenham and Chillington are approximately 2 km distance and offer excellent pubs and a farm shop selling local produce and a cafe. The picturesque towns of Dartmouth (12 km,) Kingsbridge (11 km), Salcombe (19 km), and Totnes (25 km) all have a fantastic selection of small traditional independent shops and have very distinctive characters. The historic port of Plymouth with its famous Barbican, Hoe and harbour is an hours drive.
