House in Rock, Cornwall, England - Within A Stone's Throw Of Several Stunning Beaches As Well As Excellent Local Amenities

Penmayne Cross is quietly and yet conveniently situated close to excellent local shops and within walking distance of local beaches and a short drive to Daymer Bay and Polzeath. Together with surfing, sailing, water skiing, fishing etc, there are wonderful coastal walks on the doorstep and St Enodoc Golf Course is a short distance away. There are also plenty of local pubs and restaurants within easy reach, including Nathan Outlaw at The St Enodoc Hotel, with plenty more a short ferry trip away in Padstow where Rick Stein continues to make his mark! For those keen on exploring National Trust houses and gardens Pencarrow and Lanhydrock are a short drive away with plenty more for those prepared to venture a little further. More excellent surfing is to be found at Newquay, more golf at Trevose - both around forty minutes drive, and the Eden Project near Truro provides a wonderful family day out. The house has ample parking for several cars we are happy to accept well behaved dogs!

Notes on accommodation: The accommodation is laid out as two separate bedroom 'wings' each sleeping four, one with a bathroom and the other with shower and separate WC. There is one central open-plan living/dining room, another large sitting room and separate kitchen. There is an additional, separate utility room. Outside: Large, secluded, lawned garden with two patios, one with fitted slate table and the other providing large outdoor table, chairs and sun umbrella. A BBQ is provided. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, spin dryer and butler's sink. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels can be provided by separate arrangement. The caretaker will ensure the house is ready for your arrival and by arrangement can clean after your departure. A clean during occupancy can be organised by separate arrangement. Other: Entrance hall with plenty of space for hanging coats, wellies etc.

About Lulu Palmer

Penmayne Cross has been in our family for over 30 years and is now being enjoyed by a third generation. It has proved to be ideal for family holidays with so many activities available on the doorstep for all age groups. Many days have been spent building sand castles on Daymer Bay with young children and Grandparents, (often difficult to know who enjoyed it most) and messing about in boats on the Camel Estuary. More recently our teenagers like to spend as much of their time as possible in Rock with their friends enjoying all that it offers, be it sailing, waterskiing, golf, surfing or the Mariners and Oyster Catcher.

Over time we have extended and modernised Penmayne creating a spacious and comfortable holiday home.



The nearest beach at Porthilly is approx ten minutes walk. This is a sheltered inlet overlooked by a small, pretty church and at low tide it is possible to walk further on to Rock Beach and beyond. The sandy stretches of Daymer Bay are a ten minute drive or a half-hour walk across the golf course from the house, and for surfing Polzeath Beach is another couple of minutes drive further on.


Newquay is the nearest airport, approx thirty minutes drive away. Bodmin Parkway is the nearest railway station, also approx thirty minutes drive.


Rock village is a two minute walk. More extensive shopping can be found a fifteen/twenty minute drive away in the market town of Wadebridge.

Further Details:

A large Tesco can be found on the outskirts of Wadebridge, approx twenty minutes drive.

Refundable Damage Deposit £75

Booking Notes:
We ask for a 50% deposit when the booking is confirmed, with the balance payable one month before commencement of the holiday.

Changeover Day:
Thursday is our preferred changeover day however we are prepared to be flexible whenever possible. We ask that tenants do not arrive before 3.00pm on the day of arrival and depart before 11.00am on the day of departure.
