We are from New Zealand and with our next-door neighbours stayed at your lodge 2 years ago.

We enjoyed the lodge and the great location so much that we are returning to Turleigh.

A cosy stay to enjoy English countryside

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to visit Stonehenge, Bath and Glastonbury with our two daughters of 13 and 7, so Bradford/Turleigh was a perfect location, and when we arrived we knew we had found the rare gem! The house is charming, warm and confortable, and we felt home in no time. The village of Turleigh and the countryside around is a delight with the colors of autumn brightening everything.

We love old houses and this one really has an endearing character.

We'll recommend it without hesitation (maybe not to people who could have trouble with steep stairs, but that's the only limitation).

Nice, well equipped house, lovely surroundings

  • 4 of 5

The house is well equipped with an interesting "cut" of the rooms, spanning 3 floors. Despite the house being rather narrow, this provides for enough space for 4 guests.

Everything is clean and neat, the bathroom seems to be absolutely new,

the master bedroom under the roof is the most spacious room.

The hamper was great, too.

The area is perfect. Turleigh itself is a tiny, picure book Cotswold village. Winsley is a 5 Minute walk, has a great local Inn and many little footpaths to discover. Bradford-on-Avon is in walking distance, too.

We are not giving 5 stars, because the garden is very small. If you travel with kids you need to walk the town or the meadows to get the exhausted, because romping around in the garden won't work.

Home from home

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in The lodge for just over 4 weeks while renovating a property nearby. It was a delight to arrive 'home' at the end of an exhausting day to a warm and cosy characterful property that wrapped itself around us. It provided the sanctuary we needed at a very challenging time and we would recommend it especially for winter time stays. The garden looked delightful and it's a shame that the time of year didn't permit us to utilise the space outside or see it at its best. However the views from the bedroom are amazing and sleeping with the curtains open allowed us to sleep in the light of the moon. The house is quirky so if you want straight lines and regular shaped rooms then this house is probably not for you, also if you're very tall you'll need to mind your head coming down the stairs from the bedroom but you will learn how to move up and down the winding stairs with ease in no time. The bathroom is well proportioned with good lighting so aiding relaxation in the tub. There was an endless supply of logs from Candida who was always available to provide advice and assistance with anything we needed. The only thing that stopped us giving it 5 stars is the sofa. It's very 'snug' and not very comfortable and being feather filled it needed constant puffing up. But that could be easily remedied and would, we think, finish off what is, in all other respects, a pretty wonderful house. So.....so fa......so good!!!👍

Charming and quaint!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late and weren't looking forward to having to go out later to do a wee shop for food. BUT we didn't have to as greeting us was a large hamper of bread, jam, cake, granola, tea and coffee and milk and cheese and butter in the fridge (I am sure there was more, but I can't remember it all)...not to mention fresh flowers as well. This place is so charming, with window seats looking out into beautiful fields and leaping lambs. * Oh, and there was wood provided for the fire as well. * And a bit of walk, but you can walk into Bradford on Avon too. And only about a 10 to 15 minute drive to Bath. So if you are looking for something with a bit of character and a bit of quirkiness and a whole lot of hospitality, please do check this wee home out!
