Cottage in Burton Bradstock, Nr. Bridport, Dorset, England - Short Walk To Hive Beach

Cornflower Cottage has been lovingly renovated to retain its original character, while providing very comfortable accommodation. In the summer, the beautiful garden entices you outdoors, and the inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove is cheering and cosy in winter.

Guestbook comments from the owner

It was our second visit to Cornflower Cottage. It is very much ’home from home’, and the surrounding area and it’s proximity to the beach and local pubs is perfect. Highly recommended.

This is one of the best holiday lets we have stayed in. Quality furnishings and white goods were complemented by the best equipped kitchen (it even had sharp knives!) The lovely garden offered two eating areas which was very useful. And the housekeeper was a joy and more than helpful. The location was perfect for touring and the beaches. The addition of the finest of fish restaurants within walking distance made this a superb holiday home.

Beautiful cottage and garden, lovely village with a great beach, what more could you ask for?

Excellent

We had an amazing stay in this beautiful cottage. Mark and Robbie were very welcoming and the facilities in the cottage were excellent. There was everything you needed. The garden was amazing, especially for our dogs and the children. Beautiful setting. Will we come back again soon.

A perfect choice

  • 5 of 5

We (brother and sister + the families) just spent a wonderful fortnight in this cottage. The moment we stepped in we sensed that this was the perfect choice for our summer holiday. Eggs, a bottle of wine and bunches of fresh flowers gave us a warm welcome. The owners Mark and Robbie had thought of everything and presented a clean, well-equipped house with a wonderful garden, where the kids could play and the grown-ups sat in the little summer house in the evenings. Having been fortunate with the weather we had breakfast and dinner in the garden as well. The cottage is ideally situated to tour West Dorset and Burton Bradstock is a picturesque village which offers great opportunities to eat. Nearby Hive Beach completes the location. We can definitely recommend this cottage and hope that we manage to come back one day.

Never Disappoints

Wonderful cottage in a beautiful location. We're returning guests as we had such a lovely time, this time brought mother-in-law who thoroughly enjoyed it too! Robbie and Mark are such fabulous hosts and every detail is taken care of. We love it and our Schnauzer Kaiser loves it just as much!! Especially lounging in front of the log fire.

We will be back again for more!!

Relax in Burton Bradstock

  • 4 of 5

We arrived tired but were delighted to find the cottage spotlessly clean and welcoming. We hardly used the car during our stay as there were good walks with our dog from the door plus good places to eat. The garden was a delight and we enjoyed sitting in the summerhouse . We were well cared for by the owners who to our delight personally checked we had everything we needed. We would recommend this cottage and will definitely book again Chris & Lynda and Rosie the dog

Fantastic

  • 4 of 5

Fantastic stay in Dorset and Cornflower Cottage was just what we wanted with the costal path and beach almost on your door step. The cottage is well equipped for all your needs whether you are a couple of a large family. The owners were very welcoming and left us some lovely bantam eggs and a bottle of red, which was most appreciated. All in all we had a very relaxed week.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

It is tempting simply to echo everything that has been said by other reviewers as it is very difficult to find superlatives that haven't already been used! Cornflower is a perfect cottage in an idyllic village and the owners, Mark and Robbie, are very considerate and helpful. So, in the absence of a good reason not to stay at the cottage, here is some additional information which may help. The two pubs are very good and VERY close. One is particularly good for fish. Booking recommended. The Hive Beach Cafe (10 min walk) is excellent for breakfast and lunch - fantastic fish. The village Post Office sells general groceries and fresh bread and there is a well stocked mini-supermarket at the village petrol station. The village also boasts a playfield and playground for the younger ones. There is also a library, quite something for such a small village. A farm shop (meat, veg, cheese, local jams, chutneys, etc) is 2 1/2 miles away. Great walking from the front door - take a guide book/suitable map. The X53 Jurassic Coaster bus operates along the coast so walks do not need to be loops. West Bay has plenty of eateries and pubs and is a lovely walk away. A short drive to Bridport where you'll find Morrisons and Waitrose.

Perfect we said and perfect it is!
