It was our second visit to Cornflower Cottage. It is very much ’home from home’, and the surrounding area and it’s proximity to the beach and local pubs is perfect. Highly recommended.

This is one of the best holiday lets we have stayed in. Quality furnishings and white goods were complemented by the best equipped kitchen (it even had sharp knives!) The lovely garden offered two eating areas which was very useful. And the housekeeper was a joy and more than helpful. The location was perfect for touring and the beaches. The addition of the finest of fish restaurants within walking distance made this a superb holiday home.

Beautiful cottage and garden, lovely village with a great beach, what more could you ask for?

Best cottage ever!

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in various cottages that accept dogs over the years ,this has got to be the best one.

What can we say , from the comfortable, spacious beautiful interior ,the gorgeous garden which Nellie the staffy loved as well as the adults to the welcoming hosts Robbie and Mark.

The elderly parents loved it armed with their bus passes caught the bus outside the cottage every day to explore the jurassic coast.

Myself and the hubby just chilled out walking Nellie and sampling the beautiful 2 pubs in the village food and drink both excellent. Though a tip is if you want to eat in them of an evening book a table in advance as they get very busy.

The beach an coast line was breathtaking.

We enjoyed it soo much we're going to book for 2 weeks next year, even in the winter you can imagine the cottage would be just as picture postcard perfect.

Well equipped and great location

  • 5 of 5

Cornflower Cottage was a perfect base to visit our favourite West Dorset places. The cottage was comfortably roomy for 5 adults plus the dog, well equipped and very homely - everything we needed was supplied plus a basket of fresh bantam eggs and a bottle of wine as a welcome gift. We had a call from the owner a few evenings before our visit to tell us how everything worked and good places to eat ( like the Anchor a couple of doors down and the 3 Horseshoes a short walk away.) No hesitation to recommend to friends or review readers, and will be a first choice for our next visit to this area.

Top cottage in a lovely village

  • 4 of 5

This summer we stayed for two weeks at Cornflower, following a one week break the year before and have very much enjoyed both stays. The cottage is tastefully decorated, perfectly clean and well maintained and the owners are always available, very friendly and helpful should you need assistance.

We particularly like the cottage for its open-plan space for entertaining and the beautiful garden which is a wonderful place to spend a relaxing couple of hours between activities, as well as being well suited to having people over for a bbq or afternoon tea!

The cottage is well located for all the amenities of the village and the beach is a short walk away.

We would certainly recommend this cottage, indeed we are already considering returning for summer 2017.

Delightfully relaxing and omfortable place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The property was well laid out and clean and tidy. All the rooms were comfortable and the enclosed garden was bliss. Robbie called us a few days before our stay and was thorough in letting us have lots of key information to help our stay go well. We stayed for a week, our party consisting of four adults, two children and two dogs. The owners appear to care very much about all their travellers and could not have been more helpful. The village is idyllic and everyone we met were friendly. We ate at the Anchor just a few doors down, all agreed the meal was excellent. The bus service in both directions was very good, and allowed us to leave the car behind when we went to Weymouth. Some of our party used the Park and ride facilities for Bridport and Lyme Regis and agreed these were good too. We had no trouble parking near the cottage, but you do need to take care when leaving the property itself as the road is very busy and quite fast. There were pleasant quiet walks in and around the village and it was possible to walk to Hive beach if you wanted to. We had breakfast at the Hive cafe, great meals, and a really nice experience. We would all definitely choose Cornflower as a holiday stay again.

Lovely cottage

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely stay in this cottage. The situation was great, the facilities clean & plentiful and our host stopped by to make sure everything was ok. Both local pubs were superb for food and atmosphere. All in all, a really nice stay.

For a 5th star I would say the interior decor could do with an update and waking up to the lawnmower at 8am on the morning we were due to leave was a bit of a shame but I'm being picky now! I'd still recommend it to anyone without exception.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very constructive and helpful comments. We have remedied the decor items you pointed out to us and have reminded the gardener that he should not be mowing the lawn until after 10am on Saturday, when guests will have left. Hopefully, this will mean that future guests will have an even more enjoyable stay in Cornflower Cottage.
