About the Owner

For myself and how I came to own Tigh-na-Bruaich, well I was born and grew up in the USA and moved to the U.K. with my parents back in 1984. I discovered Scotland through meeting my future husband who introduced me to this wonderful country. I have lived in Edinburgh for over 15 years now but my passion is to visit the wilder and remoter parts of Scotland trekking, climbing and wild camping. It reminds me in many ways of Northern Minnesota (even down to the midges!) where I spent many a happy summer on my grandparents small farm.

The perfect setting for a perfect vacation

  • 5 of 5

There are many cottages to choose from in the Highlands.... I scoured the internet and just kept coming back to the Tigh-na-Bruaich. The pictures reflect the property's idyllic setting exactly. There was zero disappointment for our stay. The cottage is quaint, romantic, well maintained, and tastefully decorated. It is rustic looking and feeling without sacrificing modern conveniences. The bathroom is a perfect mix of rustic and modern with a nice hot shower and vintage sink. The linens provided were luxurious. The beds and bedding were so comfortable and warm. The kitchen has everything you need to cook your own food, and there are a few restaurants nearby for a great meal. Mary is friendly and quick to offer tips for your vacation. The location is secluded enough for peace and quiet, but a short 15 minute drive will take you to a great grocery with anything you might need while staying at the cottage. There are plenty of hikes in the area and day excursions. I highly recommend staying here!

Tigh-na-Bruaich invites a revisit

  • 5 of 5

Tigh-na-Bruaich is a really lovely cottage and extremely well maintained. It is very peaceful, being set back from the road and surrounded by lawn and colourful flower beds, with birch woodland behind. We were lucky enough to see a pine martin. Being there in August we appreciated the background heating but, in colder weather, there are log fires/stoves and a good supply of logs available. We found the cottage very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. We would recommend this accommodation to anyone who likes peace and quiet and countryside. It is about 15 minutes drive from scenic Glen Affric and also from Beauly, for shopping, coffee or lunch out. Customer service was faultless and the owner, who welcomed us, was delightful.

our stay at Tigh-na-Bruaich

  • 4 of 5

We liked our stay at Tigh-na-Bruaich very very much. We loved the outlook of the cottage, the garden around the house, the many singing birds and we especially loved the kitchen with the stove. Tigh-na-Bruaich is exactly the place we dreamt of when we intended to rent a holiday cottage in Scotland. The Cnoc Hotel very near the house is a good place to have a nice dinner. The people are very friendly and the food is good. When you have a car, Tigh-na-Bruaich is a good starting point for beautiful sightseeing trips.

Beautiful Homely Cottage

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Tigh na Bruaich cottage for a week. It is a very spacious, pretty, well equipped cottage in a stunning setting within easy reach of Inverness Airport and all of the lovely sights to see and do in the Highlands. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is because there is only 1 bathroom upstairs and no downstairs toilet, this was a bit of an inconvenience as we had 6 of us staying but only a minor thing when you take into account the loveliness of the cottage.

Highland's best

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a good base - a nice house to come back to after a good day spend in the Highland, Tigh-na-Bruaich lodge will be it! Far enough from normal tourist-trouble and close enough to a nice town with the name "Beauly", where you can find all you need - Pubs, Restaurants and Supermarkets.

In the morning Tigh-na-Bruaich give you the best; the sun coming over the mountain's and a view so beautiful, that you wish the morning will last all day!

The lodge is placed close to Loch Ness and many good Glen's and Mountain's, and work quite good as a base for coupels and smaller families seeking for adventure's in the surrounding.

Tigh-na-Bruaich will always be in our hearts and without doubt, we would always recommend the lodge as a place to go back to in the future.

Location

From the Owner

For the past 5 years I have been looking for a property in just the right location to set up as a holiday letting business. I wanted a place that was more than just accommodation but one that also reflected and highlighted the special qualities that I have come to know during my travels through the Scottish Highlands. I believe that with Tigh-na-Bruaich and Fern Cottage I have found this.

Facilities

From the Owner

The small birch woodland to the North of the property has been left untouched to allow you to explore the wilder areas of the grounds. There is a small foot-bridge crossing the burn on the east border of the grounds that allows you to go out through a gate opening out onto woodlands to the North of Tigh-na-Bruaich. Since starting work on these grounds we have seen: pine martens, deer (both red and roe), badgers, bats, buzzards, woodcock, tawny owls, cuckoos, gold crests, woodpeckers, common lizards, slow worms, dragonflies and many other fauna natural to the area.
