Cottage in Holme next the Sea, Nr. Hunstanton, North Norfolk, England - Perfect For Families, Couples and short breaks

Barnwell Cottage is an extremely well equipped and attractive holiday cottage, yet totally clutter free for complete relaxation. Conveniently located for Holme beach, Hunstanton Golf Course and RSPB Titchwell, it is an ideal base for birding, walking, Golf and cycling. A short drive to the shops and attractions in Hunstanton, but less than one minute's walk to the Coasthopper bus stop, we cater for all ages and interests. The Cottage has been welcoming holiday guests for over 3 years now and all our visitors comment on how comfortable, cosy and well equipped we have made it. Plenty of off-road parking in front of the cottage and a sunny rear garden with a large garden shed for storing bikes. The cottage has proved very popular with couples and we offer short breaks all year, apart from high summer.

About Liz Curtis

We love north Norfolk and have holidayed here since we were children, we finally bought Close Cottage in 2007. We completely gutted and refurbished it into a cosy, clutter-free family bolt hole. We have 2 daughters and 2 Labradors. Peter is golf mad, so it's perfect for him; the girls love to sail and kayak and lie in bed watching the tide come in before walking across the road! We also bring our horses to ride on Holkham beach. We installed pet friendly hard floors throughout. The en suite eliminates holiday bathroom queues! Our cottage in Holme is more traditional in style, with softer furnishing (carpets) and no pets. Many visitors return year after year, they love the level of comfort and equipment provided which makes for a really relaxing holiday. We look forward to welcoming you.

Holme has a wonderful beach that is reached by walking across the golf course - it is a beautiful part of the north Norfolk coastline, completely cut off from the crowds you can encounter further along the coast, yet close to larger villages - Burnham Market - and towns - Hunstanton - with a wide variety of pubs, restaurants and shopping. The cottage is traditionally built but has all mod consBarnwell has proved a real hit with our own family members of all ages. Many of our guests have are now establish repeat visitors who book with us throughout the year, especially during the quieter months when bird migration is at a peak and the golf courses are quieter!

Notes on accommodation: NO DOGS ALLOWED Outside: Full size A frame pub picnic table in the private, sunny garden that is laid to lawn. There is a large shed suitable for storing bikes available to our guests. Utility Room: Freezer, washing machine, ironing board & iron, tool kit, laundry basket, airer and pegs, CH boiler. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bedlinen and towels are included (except beach towels). The property is cleaned and linen/towels changed at the end of each booking. Our local housekeeper can handle emergencies! Other: The back door enters into a large utility area with lots of storage space, hanging pegs for coats, room for walking boots and beach gear.

Ideal comfortable retreat

An ideal place for comfort, peace and very good facilities . Liz, the owner, was most helpful in booking and in her friendly dealings with us throughout.

The beds were comfortable,,shower rooms immaculate and all cooking appliances worked well.. The location was also very good and convenient for access to all parts of Norfolk..

The cottage is very suitable for couples but would work well for four people, being tastefully and imaginatively eequipped.

barnwell cottage

we enjoyed our stay at Barnwell Cottage; we had been before so we knew what to expect. The place was clean and well cared for, comfortable and warm. We think there should be a little more equipment in the kitchen; we tend to eat 'at home' rather than go out for meals and the number of saucepans just enabled us to get by but it would be more difficult to feed 4 adults. I guess the assumption is people will go out to eat while they are on holiday; as I say, we tend to have meals as we would at home and that is a drawback. An extra decently sized saucepan would be useful but that is our only criticism as the rest of the cottage was fine.

There was a dvd player but we couldn't find the instructions on how to use it; there was a mention of it in the house folder but we couldn't find anything though we searched. being technology illiyerate we had to settle for the tv in the evenings - which was fine.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write your review! We were delighted to welcome you back and you are one of many repeat guests booking their holidays with us. In actual fact the kitchen equipment at Barnwell already exceeds the requirement stipulated for a 4 star Visit Britain rating, which the cottage has - the very full glassware and crockery cupboard reflects this! Your point about 'eating in' has been acted on this week and your suggestion implemented - there are now an additional 3 saucepans in the kitchen ready to use! With regards the DVD, I wish we had known this whilst you were there! We always ask guests in the welcome letter sent out before guests arrive - and again on the welcome notice board - to contact us during their stay if there is anything out of place. However I am aware that the mobile signal at the coast is not always that good so we will probably ask our housekeeper to pop in to check that everything IS indeed OK! (The instructions have now been secured to the DVD for easy operation) Thank you again for your kind comments about Barnwell -we look forward to welcoming you back next time.

Saturday is the usual day for changeover, especially in the summer peak. We are always flexible if possible and especially for off-peak short breaks which are very popular at the cottage and always available year round. Christmas dates and changeover vary
