Guestbook comments from the owner

"Literally 20m from a quiet local beach perfect for a quick dip to cool down. Wifi and aircon were great, fully equipped kitchen and we were kindly welcomed with a bottle of fizz chilling in the fridge on arrival. Great local food at the markets and in the shops, locals very friendly and a real taste of unspoilt Italian life. Very relaxing time in a brilliant apartment. Highly recommended."

A great holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The house was lovely, with a very well equipped kitchen which meant that we could choose whether to eat out or stay in and cook. We did both. The view of the sea from the veranda was lovely with great opportunity to watch the fishermen going out and coming back in to people waiting to buy their catch. Choosing, as we did, to stay in Late September meant that not all the shops and restaurants in the village were still open for business but two shops, a cafe and a restaurant made sure that we didn’t ever want for anything! Most importantly, our hosts greeted us with help and advice, offered help in getting to know the area and support if and when we needed it. All very friendly and welcoming.

Wonderful Location

  • 4 of 5

Firstly I don't believe the pictures advertising this property do it justice. Whilst the property is not 5 star (don't take this as a bad comment), although basic, is very comfortable and clean, and is in a superb location. Most days we either went to the beach (Lido Blanco 2 mins in car and very nice), or visited the abundance of Cities, Towns and Villages (Albertobello, Ostuni, Santa Sabina, Villanova, Brindisi, Otranto, Carovigno, San Vito Dei Normanni, Lecce...) all within 10 mins to 1.5 hours of the house. There are also loads of beaches dotted up and down the coast in either direction. On several days we stayed in the house, either sitting on the veranda or lying on possibly the most comfortable sun loungers I have ever been on. Then when I got to hot, I walked across the road and jumped into the sea (great for snorkelling). We also used the BBQ and purchased some excellent meat from the local butchers. Most nights in front of the house a small van stops and sells fresh seafood, which is then deep fried in front of you, then add a squeeze of lemon (I felt like Rick Stein!). There is also a small coffee shop not even 2 mins walk away, we went there most mornings for espresso's and pastries (nom, nom, nom), really good with all the local Italians. Personally, in Specchiolla there was not much going on of a night, it does have several restaurants, however, I can't really comment on. Saying that, the Paradise did superb pizza's and at a very good price. There are also a number of small supermarkets, shops selling fresh bread and several street sellers providing fruit etc.... all within walking distance. As mentioned, its the location which makes this property special with the sea and the many places easily accessible by car. Thanks Adelaide, Nick and kids for sharing with us their home, and for all your recommendations. We would definitely recommend this property, and we would possibly re-visit.

Mike.

Beautiful, peaceful and a perfect home from home

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was great - the villa had everything we could need and the view from the terrace was amazing. We sat there for much of the day - when we weren't jumping into the sea a matter of a few yards away. The house had everything we needed, big clean rooms, a fully stocked kitchen and air conditioning. There are restaurants and supermarkets nearby and a number of attractions close at hand, including the beautiful city of Ostuni, just 20 minutes away. Nicholas and Adelaide were very friendly and made us feel right at home. It was difficult to leave...

Perfect location and perfect accommodation making a holiday we have returned to twice!

  • 5 of 5

This spacious villa set right infront of the sea makes you feel like you have a private corner of the world to enjoy all to yourselves.

We enjoyed sitting on the large verandah watching the sunrise and having sunny breakfasts, to having our suppers there listening to the gentle splash of water on the rocks. Just sitting on the swinging chair with a book and the sea infront of you has been more than relaxing.

We have loved it so much we have returned twice.

The village is just the right size to get acquainted with the corner shops, bakeries, market, restaurants and beaches. We have been here at the height of the tourist season and have not seen many tourists at all. For us this is perfect to feel we have got away from it all.

There are stunning coastal towns to discover nearby and when it's too hot, we visit them at night and enjoy the lit up atmosphere. Ostuni, Monopoli and Pilignano Al Mare are a must. Lecce (the Rome of the south) is a little further but was a treat to discover. Just over an hours drive and you can be on the other side of the country, swimming in the med. We did this and enjoyed an afternoon at Galipoli. There really is so much you can discover from having Specchiola as your base.

A big factor which has helped our holidays be so great is that the owners Nick & Adelaide have been thoroughly attentive and helpful and Nick is good at recommending where to eat!

We would recommend anyone wanting a peaceful escape to the South of Italy, book in here.

Such a lovely location

  • 4 of 5

Perfect location overlooking sea and lots of food shops and the market to buy provisions.

Think you need to drive to Santa Sabina for a decent meal however..try La Terraze.

Enjoyed being close to beaches..liked Lido Bianco...and SS7 to explore further afield.

Lovely outdoor spaces and well equipped kitchen. If I'm being picky...few new wine glasses and less scratchy towels would be good. Also shower maybe needs a descale but these are minor details and don't detract from a great place to stay.

Adelaide and Nick were very friendly and helpful hosts

Lovely part of Italy and great villa

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Villa Vittoria - the villa has everything you need and we spent a lot of time on the verandah contemplating the sea! Nearby Ostuni is interesting and beautiful. We used the pool at Hotel Casseli nearby, and visited various local beaches, lido Stella and lido bianco were our favourites. The cocktail bar in the village is good for a post-dinner drink, and there are enough little restaurants in the village to mean that if you tire of the local deli and shops (which sell an incredible array of breads, cheeses, meats and fresh fruit and vegetables) you don't need to cook. Hiring a car was very useful, as it meant we could explore.. And pack the mosquito repellant... We will be back!
