Traditional white painted 2 bedroom townhouse in pedestrian cobbled street. Stunning sea views from first floor living room to coast. Decent sized, quiet communal pool 1 minute. Communal parking spaces. Walk downstairs to a choice of 3 restaurants and a cosy bar. Easy walk into village centre for shops and restaurants, 5-10 minues. Fantastic walks on hills behind house and beautiful gardens in Mijas village. Traditional Spanish atmosphere with village squares and churches and delicious tapas! Great photo and painting opportunities. Quick and easy access by bus or car to coastal towns of Malaga, Fuengirola, Marbella, Puerto Banus for great shopping and El Corte Ingles store. Multi screen cinema in Fuengirola (Miramar shopping centre) Blue skies most of the year and warm evening al fresco dining either at home with BBQ on patio or in a fab restaurant only a short walk away or at a beach restaurant. We are a couple in our 50's, who love Spanish cuisine, spanish guitar, warm air, blue skies and sunshine. We love to get off the plane at Malaga and feel the warmth! It always seems to be 10 degrees warmer than UK!

We love the colours and the smells of the hillside behind us- seeing the occasional goat wandering on the hillside. We love the smiling welcome of the local people.

Above all we love the different culture of Spain.

We love to escape from the crowds of the UK!

Why Jeremy Mortimer chose Mijas area

Casa Cabrio is a home which we love dearly. When we first walked in we fell in love with it. We hope that you find it to your liking. The kitchen is recently refitted as are both bathrooms. We love it particularly because it has gorgeous views from the lounge, it is a short walk from the village and has lovely restaurants and bars down below.

The village is a delight and is so Spanish. Don't choose Mijas pueblo if you want to find all night bars and loads of English party goers. Choose it if you want to chill out and enjoy good Spanish food and atmosphere, and the Mijas mountain for walks. If you want the "buzz" go down to Fuengirola or Marbella.

What makes this house unique

There are so many reasons to come to Mijas!

Our house is compact! Arriving from the UK and opening up the glazed doors from the living room to admire the views over the hillside towards Fuengirola with the pine trees and sun on the hills is just heavenly.

Embracing the warm air and wandering thriough the village enjoying a tapas and a beer or coffee is bliss.

We like to play tennis at the Hotel Mijas, and taking a swim in our communal pool makes us feel refreshed.

Having a paseo along the front at Fuengirola and having a seafood lunch at a chiringuito on the beach is fantastic. We pinch ourselves that we are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy it. How lucky we are!

We looked at "bigger" more remote places to buy but choose Casa Cabrio as it is cosy and has everything we wanted!

Thank you for allowing us to chill out in your wonderful house. It was everything you said and more. We had super relaxing time. What a pretty and friendly village Mijas is. It is without doubt a much better way to spend January than stay in the UK. If its OK with you I will give your details to a couple of friends as they have been green since we got home and told them all about your magic house

We would love to come back, its the best property we have stayed in in Mijas and despite the torrential rain thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a great time at Casa Cabrio - I did mean to e-mail you earlier to say what a well-equipped & clean property you have!We really did enjoy it.

Casa Cabrio is a lovely place to stay. Clean, tidy and well maintained.

My husband and I returned for a second stay in August 2016 and will be back again in the future.

The view from the balcony is second to none. The location too is great, just a short walk into Mijas for the shops and many restaurants.

Will definitely be returning.

In a Word----AVOID.

A typical pinch penny operation, run by an unsupervised maid, and owned by out of touch, seemingly disinterested owners, unwilling to take any complaints or suggestions seriously.

We are experienced ex-owners of rental properties in the US and Mexico, and thus know very well the standards expected, in this case, they ARE NOT MET, period.

It proved to be one of the worst vacation rentals we have ever had to endure.

It is impossible to sufficiently alert prospective renters of ALL the pitfalls that are woefully present; so, below are just a FEW, seriously.

Contrary to the House Notes, (Which are way out of date.) there IS a major ANT INFESTATION in the kitchen, which needs extermination. There are literally thousands of ants, which more or less greeted us on arrival as we put bagged items on the counter and table. Any food item left for more than 10 mins will be immediately descended upon.

It costs 29 Euros for 2 weeks WiFi for EACH DEVICE and the reception is spotty at best.

It would cost the owner 150 Euros per year, plus a one time fee of 35-65 Euros for a necessary *signal enhancer, and would cover ALL devices. *Not available for short term WiFi rental!

The owner's rude, ridiculous and infantile suggestion is that, whenever WiFi is needed, you should go down and back up scores of steep steps, to the restaurant at street level, buy a cup of coffee, and use theirs!

Unbelievably crass!

Trash has to be sorted and placed into a triple kitchen unit (Containing no plastic liners until you 'return with grocery shopping and use those bags.') biodegradable trash can only be dumped between the hours of 8:00 PM and MIDNIGHT, think about that. Toilet rolls are almost empty.

The rear patio is an absolute disgrace, filthy tiles, with black mildew everywhere, and a joke of a lash-up BBQ

Chemical cleaning, followed by pressure washing would be a TEMPORARY solution. Clearly it is NOT on the maid's cleaning list.

Remember Seniors, and those not absolutely FIT, there is a steep climb and/or scores of steps to access the acclaimed 'beautiful view,' which unfortunately is negated by a thick curtain, needed to combat the direct sun most of the day. The blind that was removed needs to be replaced.

Carrying the obligatory heavy bottled water, every couple of days, up to these heights, is obviously for GOATS!- Kettle replacement needed, occasionally, or the maid should clean the element!

Each shower taken in the master bathroom (dirty) results in a flooded floor.

Owner's Response: I am not surprised that Mr Melhuish has written such a vitriolic review as he sent me his first salvo within hours of arriving. He is clearly a particularly unhappy man so I offered a full refund immediately so he could find somewhere he was happy to stay. He declined and stayed or should I say "endured" it for 3 weeks! Odd though that he is such an unhappy man that he has posted this review some 3 months after he left! We have been renting out our home for nearly 10 years and many happy people have stayed here. After he left Mr Melhuish started sending me rambling emails over his support for Mr Trump until I told him I was not interested! Dealing with his issues I comment as follows; Ants. Once before, a few years ago, a client had an ant problem. But no one this year either before or after Mr Melhuish has mentioned ants. They can appear in hot climates and you have to be wary which is why we warn people not to leave crumbs. Wifi. We make it clear that there is no wifi at the house as we don't have a phone line there. We advise people that there is a paid for service available but we can't vouch for how good it is. We recommend people go down the steps to Bar Fiesta where the owners are very happy to give you the code for their wifi, and in return we suggest you at least buy a coffee. They have a lovely bar and super restaurant so it's well worth enjoying time there. Recycling. Mijas is very hot on recycling. We have provided a 3 part kitchen bin to assist getting paper; glass and plastic into the right municipal bins located in the Main Street below. Rear Patio. The BBQ is purpose built into each patio of the houses. Our lovely Spanish maid uses the hose to wash down the tiles after each guest. Chemical cleaning would be harmful to the environment and would be completely ridiculous. Water. The tap water is safe to drink but we recommend you buy bottled water for the kettle to avoid a build up of calcium. I think this is pretty normal. Steps. We make it quite clear that there are steps so the house is unsuitable for the infirm. Sunshine. Mr Melhuish even complains about the sun! I suggest he stays in his perfect USA. About 10 holidaymakers a year for 10 years- some 100 so far have enjoyed staying in our beautiful home. I guess we have to expect 1 in 100 will want to complain.

Wonderful view and location.

We had a wonderful holiday in your lovely house. The views from the sitting room and balcony overlooking Mijas to the Mediterranean were stunning. The floor to ceiling sliding windows extended the very comfortable living room onto the sunny balcony. We also enjoyed the private patio at the rear which caught the evening sunshine and where you could use the in-built barbeque. The property is situated in a pedestrian only typically whitewashed Andalucian street within easy reach of restaurants, cafes, bars, buses and taxis. There are a lot of steps to negotiate but once you reach the bottom, the walk into the main part of the village is level and takes about ten minutes unless you linger in one of the lovely cafes on the way! There is a great bus service if you want to go to Malaga or other resorts on the coast. We hired a car as we wanted to explore the mountains behind Mijas which are very beautiful. It is a very pretty place - we will be back!

OK for the price but not great

Upon walking into the property and opening the door you're greeted with a disgusting moldy smell from the bedroom. They didn't have any cleaning products so we had to go out and buy some. We had to buy our own toilet paper, etc. I've never stayed in a rental quite like this one. It looked somewhat clean but after sweeping...it wasn't. The living room was full of sand...odd considering there isn't a beach in Mijas pueblo. I even needed to wash all the towels before using them as some had stains! But then again...I guess you get what you pay for. The owner tried to keep our deposit and charge us for electricity we didn't even use. Renters beware

Owner's Response: Very surprised by this comment. The first negative review in 9 YEARS ! No one has ever suggested any mouldy smell in our house and you didn't mention it to us at any time. The cleaning products are kept under the kitchen sink! Sorry you ran out of toilet paper. There is usually sufficient but you were a party of 5. I cant comment on "the living room was full of sand" as you say there is no beach in Mijas Pueblo so goodness knows how you found a room FULL of sand! Our cleaner spends 4 hours cleaning and washing sheets and towels after each letting and has been with us for 4 years. She pointed out that 2 towels had small old stains on them. These have been replaced. We did make a mistake on the electricity calculation but as you know full well the error was immediately corrected. We also travelled your son's jacket back to the UK, wrapped it up, queued in the Post office and sent it back. You cant please every tenant- clearly- but one complaint in 9 years isn't too bad! Also we have many repeat clients who have no complaints at all.

Fantastic view

My husband and I visited Mijas Pueblo for the second time in June. This was the first time staying in Casa Cabrio. The best thing about Casa Cabrio is the view! It cannot be beaten. The house has everything you need, and is spacious and comfortable, well looked after and clean. Easy stroll to local shops and restaurants, for which you are spoilt for choice. If you don't want to go far, two restaurants, are at the end of the steps. Bus stop directly opposite , taxis' a 5 minute walk in the village. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
