Caerkief Cottages offer charming and characterful holiday accommodation in a tranquil setting. Restored from period farm buildings, retaining beamed ceilings in the living areas and original stone walls. They share use of large grounds and woodland, along with a recreation area with barbecue facilities. Set 500 metres down a quiet, unmade lane, yet within easy reach of Goonhavern village, there are delightful panoramic views over undulating countryside.
This is a perfect location for those seeking a peaceful holiday in the countryside, with miles of beautiful country walks, yet only 2.5 miles from Perranporth with its large surfing beach, amenities and golf course. The surfing beaches and golf course at Newquay is 7 miles away, Truro is 9 miles and the Eden Project, 20 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
We live in Caerkief Farmhouse which is in the same grounds as Hollies and Babes cottages. Simon is an IT consultant and Gail does most of the work of looking after the house and cottages. Lucy (our daughter) helps out. Occasionally. Charlie (the cat) and Buddy (the dog) don't help out at all. At least the chickens make themselves useful by providing the eggs for the welcome packs!
Gail and Simon purchased this cottage in 2012
We've been desperate to move to Cornwall for many years but had to wait for the right time and the right property. When the opportunity to buy Caerkief Farm came up we leapt at it. It's in a breathtaking location and marvellously peaceful yet only a few minutes drive to the nearest beach.
5 Stars: Truly home from home, the owners provide pretty much everything you need to settle straight in to this warm cosy cottage. Exactly as advertised, immaculate and well maintained. The cottage is set off the beaten track, with access to lovely local walks, and a field for exercising your dog, but still providing excellent access to hundreds of places to visit, pretty much all dog-friendly, even the restaurants! Nearby Perranporth town and beach are a must, very friendly locals. We had a fantastic week!

Excellent! Absolutely everything you could need, even a hot water bottle in the cupboard! Owners were exceedingly pleasant and most helpful. Our pooch had the time of his life in the field, how he would love that permanently .
For us, the outdoor space at these two cottages is the key advantage. The acre of beautiful grass with its covered barbecue gazebo is superb for exercising dogs, flying kites, playing footie or just eating way too much with a couple of Rattler ciders (the cider farm is very close by). When you factor in the warm friendly welcome from Gail and Simon and the character of the cottages, it's a package that's hard to beat. The cottages are situated down a long off road lane so don't bring your Ferrari. They have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Both only have the one bedroom but our 9 year old was very happy sleeping on the bed settee. Perranporth with its great beach is only a short drive away, as is Holywell Bay and Crantock. Good walks right on the doorstep.
A wonderful stay in a wonderful cosy cottage. All items that are needed are supplied and more. A really nice touch is the welcoming pack. Would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone. The owners are very helpful and are on site for any information needed. The location is away from any hussle and bussle of town life and sits in a really lovely part of Cornwall. Will definitely be back.
We had a lovely stay here it is a wonderful relaxing location.
Gail and Simon are perfect hosts and could not have been more helpful. Buddy the dog is the best !!
The cottage is well equipped and has everything you could need. The heating and hot water is amazing if you need it at the flick of a switch.
The location is stunning and relaxing. It is very central for lots of resorts.
We would definitely return and recommend to anyone.
We both needed a relaxing holiday whilst organising and planning our wedding, sometimes it can get a bit hectic.
This cottage helped us both relax, with lovely scenery, picture perfect views and a great location, not forgetting wonderful hosts.
A great retreat for anyone looking to relax and enjoy cornwall.
The Eden project was not far away at all, nor Newquay.
Highly recommended, you won't regret picking this cottage for a perfect retreat away.
We stayed for a week with our 3 dogs and had a great time. Simon & Gail were extremely helpful and friendly, and made us feel very welcome. We probably had one too many dogs for their liking, but they didn't say anything! Fortunately ours are reasonably well-behaved, and we were careful to follow after them with pick-up bags! The cottage is a converted piggery, but you wouldn't know it! Very comfy bed, steaming hot water, central heating if you need it, sky tv, all mod con. The place is up a very bumpy track, in a lovely rural location, so nice and quiet, but easy enough to get to the local beaches etc. We spent most of our time walking the dogs around the area behind Perranporth beach, and the beach itself, and patronising the local pubs (especially the Watering Hole, actually on the beach). We picked May as a quieter time - would probably avoid the summer (the beach gets extremely crowded), but September would be lovely. The area would be great for a walking holiday.
