Stella Poesie is a beautiful chalet which sleeps a maximum twelve people in Richebourg. The Portes du Soleil which has 650 km of piste and incorporates 12 resorts including Chatel, Morgins, Les Gets, Torgon, Champery, Morzine and Avoriaz. It is a gift to down hill skiers and snowboarders alike from beginners to the most advanced. The area also offers cross-country skiing and the route can be accessed opposite the chalet; which is beautifully positioned opposite a nature reserve, dominated by a view of the summit of Mont du Grange.

About the Owner

We are a married couple who love mountains and skiing and have explored the French Alps over many years. In 1997 we decided to buy an apartment in Chatel which we and our children enjoyed. When our children married and had families we needed larger accommodation so in 2003 we purchased a new chalet in Abondance. We enjoyed designing it! We made the lower floor a separate apartment for use by relatives and friends giving them independence with a kitchen but this also benefits our client guests where there are 2 families sharing or where parents accompany their families.

had the most lovely time chalet was warm and cosy with the log fire , lots of room as there were 10 of us with 2 children , our stay for 2 weeks was just not long enough and did not want to leave , skiing was great ideal for the 2 boys and the grown ups had just as much fun ,would recommend it to friends and relatives we did need our car ,but no worrys to park and it was free .and the best thing for all of us was it snowed on christmas day .as we do not get much snow in cornwall /

Extent and variety of pistes in Portes de Soleil. Availability of cross country skiing on opposite side of river to chalet. Fishing in local lakes and rivers. Buildings are of traditional design with no high rise apartment blocks. Ease of access by air and by road. Can alternate days in mountains with days by Lac Leman with its sailing, attractive promenades and towns such as Evian les Bains, Thonon les Bains and its Port de Rives, Montreux, and medieval floral Yvoire. Cycling on roads and on mountain bikes. Access to Switzerland and northern Italy. Musical festivals such as at Montreux and cultural events, art galleries and museums. Wide range of activities organised by tourist offices.

Coast/Beach:

About 20 miles from the large Lac Leman with the lakeside promenades and swimming and fishing opportunities.

Travel:

Geneva airport is 75 minutes away. Can use Swiss motorways to north of Lac Lemanto Monthey and then up to Morgins before crossing into France or travel south of lake to Thonon les Bains and then to the Valley D'Abondance. Worth checking hire rates from both Swiss and French sides of airport. Can get train from airport to Aigle and then to Troistorrents or train from Geneva to Thonon les Bains. Car required. Buses run up and down the valley with a stop at the entrance to our cul de sac.

Distances:

Under 2 miles from Abondance and Chapelle D'Abondance and about 5 miles from Chatel. About 20 miles from Thonon les Bains and Evian les Bains. About 20 miles to Monthey and over 30 miles from Montreux and Martigny

Further Details:

We are about 75 minutes from Geneva airport which offers great access all the year round and 20 minutes from the Swiss Motorways, 40 minutes from Aigle railway station which connects with Troistorrents just over the border in Switzerland and 35 minutes from the railway station in Thonon (France) with bus connections to the valley. If hiring cars at Geneva airport check prices on both the Swiss and French side.

Booking Notes:
The chalet is let on a weekly Sunday to Sunday basis with arrivals after 4pm. Weekday arrivals and departures possible. A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the price will be required. 8 weeks prior to the booking the balance needs to be paid plus a cautionary deposit of £200 in case of damage. This cautionary deposit to be returned within 14 days of the end of the booking if no damage has occurred. Chalet is non-smoking inside and no pets allowed.

Changeover Day:
The chalet is let on a weekly Sunday to Sunday basis with arrivals after 4pm and departures must be prior to 10am to allow cleaning to take place. Rentals for other periods may be able to be negotiated.

Chalet is in a cul de sac with only 5 chalets all with decent size gardens (ours being the largest), accessed from main road through the valley. Our chalet set back from road and is south facing so benefiting the balconies and large gated terrace (child friendly). Chalet in wider part of valley with views of Mont de Grange, a reserve so its environment is protected, and where deer are often seen coming down as far as the river. Bus stops at end of cul de sac. Chalet is in area where many properties are occupied all year, and not only in ski and summer season. Abondance is main market centre in valley and has medieval Abbey. Property has 2 kitchens so two families can be semi independent.

  • Notes on accommodation: The chalet ‘Stella Poesie’ is 170 sq.metres on three floors. The ground floor can be a separate apartment, if necessary, for 4 people. It has a double bed in a separate bedroom and two single beds in the main sitting room which incorporates a kitchen and a pine table and chairs with a comfortable settee and television. It has a shower room and lavatory. It has its own front door if necessary with access to the front of the house and an outside table and chairs. The chalet has a spacious sitting room with a large leather settee and separate easy chairs, large Savoyard log burning stove, and large solid oak table and chairs, seating 12 if needed. It is cosy and warm in winter and cool in summer. Television is available. Efficient central heating system. The master bedroom is of double height with beautiful views in both directions. It is en-suite. Balconies on two floors plus large enclosed terrace, which is very toddler friendly. Outside: Stella Poesie is one of 5 chalets built in 2003. It is the central one opposite the little chapel in Richebourg. It is off the main road that travels up the Abondance valley and so is accessed easily all the year round. It has snow clearance arranged and has its own large garden with a good sledging slope! It has two balconies and a large enclosed terrace. A single garage and parking for cars. It has a large outdoor table and chairs plus a Weber barbecue. The apartment has a table and chairs too. Utility Room: There is a washing machine and tumbler dryer. In summer there is a clothes dryer as the washing dries quickly outside on the terrace, Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Duvet covers,sheets, pillow cases,towels can be provided or you can bring your own. Cost 5 euros per bed so 40 euros for 8 beds and 2 euros per person for towels. (24 euros for 12 people) Please request owners. Other: All the rooms are spacious and airy. Warm in winter, cool in summer. Two bed rooms on the top floor have French windows onto the balcony and all have their own wardrobes.
