About the property

9 bedroom Farmhouse with Large Private Garden, Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, Skittle Alley, Billiard Room and Table Tennis - Ten Minutes From The Sea

Situated off the beaten track, down a quiet lane, Moorbath Farmhouse is a wonderful secret setting for large family holidays, or friends gathering to spend relaxed country breaks near the Dorset seaside.

The 17th century farmhouse has the comfortable feel of a rambling family home in the country. With the private Indoor Swimming Pool, Hot Tub, Traditional Dorset Skittle Alley, Billiard room and Table Tennis games room both with log fires, Moorbath is wonderfully equipped to make your holiday really memorable.

The accommodation comprises four double bedrooms, four twin bedrooms and one single. One of the doubles is fully ensuite, another has a cast iron roll-top bath in the room and a third has an ensuite shower. There are a further three family bathrooms.

Downstairs the two large sitting rooms and dining room all have log fires. Both sitting rooms are equipped with Sky TV and DVD players. Having two means that people can relax and be together or do their own thing. In the dining room the grand oak table seats everyone comfortably for fantastic meals in front of the inglenook fireplace.

There is a fully equipped farmhouse kitchen which is laid out to make everything easy to find and use. There is a large gas range cooker with electric ovens, microwave, two dishwashers, two large upright fridges and a large freezer to make catering for large numbers a breeze. There long kitchen table is great for informal meals.

A quadrangle of traditional stone buildings enclose the private garden, a secure place for children and dogs. At all times of day there is a place to sit and enjoy the sun. There are two BBQs on the terrace with outdoor seating for everyone. The indoor pool has large full height sliding barn doors opening out onto a deck with the Hot Tub and further seating.

There are many fine walks over the extensive footpath system leading from the house, as well as the stunning Jurassic coast less than three miles away. Nearby is the charming market town of Bridport with a great range of restaurants, and shops. There's a golf course, as well as sea and freshwater fishing to be had nearby. Cycle trails abound and stabling can be arranged on site.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"I just wanted to say thanks for a really great weekend at the farmhouse. Everyone really enjoyed their stay. The house is beautiful and really thoughtfully equipped."

"The accommodation was absolutely first rate, from stunning old features in the property, to the fantastic beds and linen and the amazing facilities, especially the kitchen and utility room. The kids (including the boys aged over 12) had a great time either swimming, playing pool or table tennis. It was a pleasure for us to cook in the fantastic kitchen with all the mod cons and we could all sit down at the amazing dining room table to eat. We would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone wishing to visit the area, which was also stunning, with extremely friendly and helpful locals."

"Everyone was delighted with the house. Our ages varied from three to seventy three and the facilities had something for everyone. Thanks also to your cleaners and gardener who presented the property so well."

Perfect for a large informal gathering

  • 5 of 5

We've just spent a relaxing weekend at Moorbath with 17 friends and family, to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was the perfect venue! The house is big enough for everyone to spread out, but warm and cosy when it's freezing outside (as it was!). Comfortable and well-equipped, with pretty bedrooms, squashy sofas and a magnificent dining table by the inglenook fireplace. The pool, hot tub and games rooms were in regular use and there's really no need to leave the house. But if you do, there are good walks, a lovely pub nearby and the amazing coast a short drive away. The icing on the cake was having a great dinner cooked and served by caterers that Connie recommended. We're already looking for an excuse to go back!

Amazing spacious property

  • 5 of 5

We were a large part of 4 families and we all came away having had an amazing time (even though we were there for the storms). The place is huge and so atmospheric that we had endless fun playing hide and seek with the kids on the rainy days. The enclosed courtyard style garden is very large and was great for playing around with the kids when the sun did come out. The swimming pool is amazing and is definitely one of the highlights of the farmhouse outbuildings but probably best of all was the massive table and inglenook fireplace which was great with a roaring log fire each evening. Ed and Connie were very helpful and supportive where required and made the stay even more enjoyable.

The area is tranquil and the Watchhouse Cafe in Westbay is one of the best cafes I have ever been to with a delicious innovative bakery attached.
