This beautiful 5 bedroom house is located in the charming hamlet of Carrick Castle, overlooking Loch Goil, just over an hour from Glasgow airport. Built as a holiday home in the 1890's it is once again available to the discerning holiday maker as a 4 star self catering Highland lodge. The perfect location for family & friends with spacious rooms and comfortable sleeping accommodation. Its unique family room, once the tennis pavilion, has lots of seating, Sky TV, a Wii and a large pool table. There are French doors opening onto a large decking and garden area with amazing loch views. Free Wi-Fi. The house has five bedrooms (3 double, 1 twin / family and a single), a drawing room, elegant dining room and the very special family room. With a ground floor bedroom opposite the shower room the house is perfect for multi-generation families. There are log burners in the drawing room and dining room.

Outside guests have lawns to the side and front of the house and their own loch side lawn and shingle beach - a stunning place to sit, watch the loch wildlife. It is also an ideal spot to launch your kayak or dingy.

A short drive into the village of Lochgoilhead to pubs, restaurants, an indoor pool & leisure centre, activity centre, boat and fishing hire. This area is very popular with walkers of all abilities, with walks ranging from gentle lochside walks to the challenges of the Arrochar Alps.

Loch Goil is stunning, a hidden jewel in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, it has simply breathtaking scenery. When you stand outside Rhumhor all you hear are birds singing and waves lapping on the shore. The view is completely unspoilt, just the loch and mountains.

You feel a world away from busy roads and hectic lifestyles and yet you are only just over an hour away from the city of Glasgow. The house has uninterrupted views of the mountains and loch but you can hop in the car and be in the village in minutes.

We cannot imagine a better place to recharge your batteries, spend precious time with loved ones and appreciate all the beauty that Scotland offers.

What makes this house unique

This location offers complete peace and relaxation whilst being in easy reach of great facilities for all family ages. We have restaurants, a pub, a leisure centre with indoor pool, outdoor activity centre, boat and bike hire, fishing tackle hire, canoe wildlife trips and numerous walks, all within our very own glen.

This is a Victorian villa that was enhanced in the 1920's by the Glasgow architect Magnus A Duncan. He added the fairytale turrets, the spectacular half landing offering panoramic mountain views and the unique family room, once the tennis pavilion, which sets it apart as it offers plenty of space for everyone to gather. It is the real heart of the house and means it is the perfect house for a celebration, get together or a peaceful holiday among family and friends.

Stunning location with superb scenery. Away from everything yet plenty amenities nearby. Asda home delivery was excellent!

Rhumhor is an extremely spacious, comfortable and cosy house. Owners make you very welcome. Plenty space to completely relax and chill out. Highly recommend!

Notes on accommodation: This is a spacious and comfortable holiday home ideal for families of all ages and it is perfect for celebrating a special occasion. Walkers, cyclists and wildlife enthusiasts all love this location with the Argyll Forest Park on your doorstep and the famous Arrochar Alps nearby. Bike hire is available in the glen, they can be locked away on site. Outdoor activities available locally. Outside catering can be arranged - please ask. Well behaved pets are welcome with prior discussion. Outside: Guests at Rhumhor have their own shoreside lawn and shingle beach, plus a lawn garden with extensive decking to the side of the house which is perfect for a BBQ or breakfast overlooking the loch. To the front is a beautiful lawn and flower beds leading to the loch. The front gardens are separated from the lochside lawn by a quiet single track road. There are stunning views up and down the loch and across the mountains. Rhumhor has a double entrance driveway with parking for a maximum of 5 cars. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Beds made up for your arrival with quality linen & bedding. Towels, hand towels and tea towels are provided. The property is cleaned before your arrival. Other: Elegant dining room with large table & chairs, wood burning stove and stunning loch views. Half landing with comfy seats, table and 8ft picture windows giving amazing views over the Argyll mountains, perfect place to read, play cards or spot wildlife.
