About Jon Burton

Thank you for viewing my property, Im Jon a business transformation consultant from Manchester with a passion for Turkey.

When searching for the ideal holiday escape it was essential the property offered stunning sea views, lush gardens, peace and tranquility, yet offering all amenities expected for the perfect holiday. Buying in Patara Prince made was the best decision made as not only does it offer all the above it packages it up into a truly memorable holiday experience.

After the fantastic feedback from guests about The Olive Garden I decided to purchase The Cactus Garden in 2016 and fully gutted it to refurbish it to the modern standards expected. Not only does this make a fantastic additional property it also allows those wishing to travel as a larger party of 6 stay in two fantastic properties located in the same resort offering both convenience and privacy.

Jon Burton purchased this villa in 2006

Why Jon Burton chose Kalkan

After returning from a holiday we saw The Olive Garden was available for sale and as soon as we saw the views from the terrace we knew we had to buy it!

We had never visited Kalkan previously but fell in love with the town, its restaurants and its people. We decided to purchase in Patara Prince as the property offered everything we required; uninterrupted sea views, onsite bars and restaurants, its own water and electricity supply, 24 hour security and direct sea access from the bathing platforms... not to mention the four swimming pools!

We also appreciated the peace and tranquillity of the resort and the beautiful gardens and architecture, better still Kalkan centre is only a short taxi ride or a 20 minute walk away.

After the lovely feedback we received about The Olive Garden we decided to purchase another property, The Cactus Garden, a one bedroom ground floor apartment at the top of the resort allowing friends and family to visit whilst offering private accommodation. Fully refurbished for the 2016 season we hope you also enjoy the property.

What makes this villa unique

The Olive Garden Villa is situated in an excellent position within the resort, with uninterrupted sea and Kalkan views combined with the convenience of being close to all the main resort facilities.

The Agora restaurant and bar is only a 2 minute walk away and the Grand and Adult pools only a 5 minute walk away.

The Olive Garden is also situated close to the main hotel building allowing easy access to the resort Shuttle Bus and Spa Facilities.

The Cactus Garden is located at the top of the resort by the infinity pool and mini market. For those wishing to avoid steps the garden level apartment is only a couple of steps from the Palm shuttle bus roundabout offering regular journeys to the sea front and grand pools.

For your convenience we also have a private fast Wi-Fi internet connection in both properties.

A very well maintained villa in a clean and beautiful complex. Spectacular view from a hilly retreat

  • 5 of 5

Jon was most helpful in arranging our transfers to and from the villa. The villa was compact but had everything we required for a 2 week stay. We loved the terrace, and both the design of the villa, and the complex itself. The Olive garden felt very homely and welcoming. The view from the villa was spectacular due to the position on a hill side. FYI - There is a shuttle service that runs up and down the hill but we felt that the villa requires a degree fitness to access as there were 47 steps to the front door and the shuttle does not go as far as the pool, or the local shop. Kalkan itself is very pretty and has no shortage of restaurants to try out. If you're able bodied and don't mind hills then both the Patara Prince complex, and the Kalkan itself are wonderful places to spend time. Thank you Jon for being a great host!

Well what a place! I stayed here for 2 weeks with my husband and 3 year old daughter and it was fantastic. Upon arrival we were greeted with lovely, helpful staff and presented with a welcome package consisting of cheese, bread, jam, milk, coffee and tea. We also were provided details of a local taxi driver, Ayan who was excellent. We used him for the entire 2 weeks and he was trustworthy and reliable. A lovely man who could not do enough for us.

The villa had a wet room, and great facilities throughout including air con.

I think one of the most amazing things is the beautiful view when sat on the terrace. My husband and I sat there many a night looking over to Kalkan and the boats going buy. The sunset is amazing.

Very reasonable and he owners are lovely people. Jon was extremely helpful and quick at coming back to me also provided useful tips on the area.

We are booking again for next year.

Lovely Stay With All We Needed

  • 4 of 5

When we arrived the agent showed us to our room without any problem. Immediately we felt at home with all we needed. Good access to both adult and main pools and a good view from the balcony. Staff in the hotel were friendly, despite some language barriers!

There were a few minor problems but none of these really bothered us - couldn`t seem to get a decent picture on the tv and couldn't get the cd player to work. I`m sure if we`d have asked the agent he would`ve sorted it as he was more than happy to help. We didn`t get a change of linen during our stay. Apart from that, all was perfect and I would definitely return.

Piece of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

The Olive Garden Villa is of a very high standard and exactly as described by Jon the owner - charming, in a perfect location and has everything that we look for in a relaxing holiday. Having been recently refurbished, we enjoyed the luxury of a modern bathroom and kitchen, very comfy bed and private WIFI access was an added bonus, rarely provided in other rental properties. The balcony enjoys privacy and a truly spectacular view over Kalkan bay. Club Patara is in a stunning location nestled in the hillside right on the sea front with private sea access. It is peace and tranquility but within a 15 - 20 minute walk to the beautiful old town with harbour and spoilt for choice rooftop terrace restaurants. The Turks in Kalkan are the most friendly and kind people. We discovered Kalklan in 2008 and have returned several times since, however our first time in this property. Jon was most helpful with our booking from the outset and ensured that everything was perfectly organised for our arrival and also provided a local contact in resort in the event of any problems. We would not hesitate to recommend the Olive Garden Villa and cannot wait to return. Our only negative is that a holiday there is just not long enough! Val & David

Dream villa with a view, great condition and superb value for money.

  • 5 of 5

The Olive Garden villa does just what it says on the box. The grandstand view across Kalkan bay is the stuff of holiday dreams, especially at night when you see the town's twinkling lights. Inside, the rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. The beds are big and comfy and the kitchen and shower/toilet are modern. Every detail has been thought of - from novels for all ages and guidebooks, to candles in case of powercuts, loads of towels, and generous kitchenware. It's a fair trek down steep steps to the pools and beach club but a spot of exercise on holiday never goes amiss and the perfectly clean, sparkling blue water of the sea - with its marvellous cool patches of spring water from the mountains - are well worth the walk. The villa is very handy for hotel reception, which made ordering taxis into town easy. The taxis were a snip at £3 a time - but if you fancy the 20-minute walk into Kalkan, you are rewarded with views over the Old Town. In town, we had marvellous evening meals at the Sade, Baharat, Terra and Samphire rooftop restaurants. Simply sensational food and views. The coolest bar in town seems to be Botanik Garden, owned and run by Namek -- a twinkling wonderland of trees, hammocks and treehouses with the coolest bartenders in Kalkan and sensational jumbo cocktails and mocktails. The most talked-about day trip is to Kekova, where you can view the underwater and hillside ruins of an ancient city and swim with turtles. We also loved the one to Saklikent Gorge, where you can trek up the canyon but also try out rafting -- and a mudbath. Our villa owner, Jon Burton, was most efficient and helpful in his emails - but most welcoming of all was the ginger tabby cat who turned up daily at our door and became our friend. When we left for home, at 2.15am, she seemed to sense the moment and followed us down the steps to the bus.

This has to be the best holiday ever! The villa was modern, clean and had everything we needed for a fabulous stay. The view from the veranda was 'to die for'. We didn't fail to be mesmerised every morning drinking coffee on the veranda and admiring the view of the bay. Such a great location, despite the hilly setting. We were glad we were outside Kalkan, not because it was noisy but because the view was the best of all the possible locations for accommodation. We would recommend this location and villa to anyone. The facilities of Patara Prince were great - the kids preferred the infinity pool to the salt water pools but on many occasions we had the pool to ourselves - quite unusual in July. We will definitely be going back.

Car: not necessary

Patara Prince has it's own private access to the sea but does not have a beach. Instead there are steps into the sea from the platforms. The resort has been awarded a blue flag. Kalkan town does have a beach which is a 15 minute walk away or can be reached by the boat that leaves the resort. Further out there is the beautiful Kaputus beach (10 mins by car) or the stunning 18km long Patara beach (20 mins by car).

Kalkan is easily accessible thanks to its two major airports. Dalaman Airport is the closest airport to Kalkan with a transfer time of about 1.5 hours. Antalya Airport is a 3 hour transfer.

We are happy to arrange airport transfers and rental cars for you at time of booking.

Kalkan is a couple of minutes drive away by taxi or car. Taxi's can be booked at the hotel and they will pick you up from reception. A water taxi is also available from Patara Prince in high season to take you to the harbour for a small fee but stops running at 8pm. If you wish to walk into Kalkan this will take approx 20 minutes.

Further Details:

There is a small mini market at the top of the resort that can be used for your basic provisions. However on your arrival a welcome pack will be provided with the basic essentials. Kalkan town has a selection of larger supermarkets and a number of pretty shops and boutiques dotted down the pretty cobbled streets selling pottery, jewellery, clothes and a must for the ladies...handbags ! There are also traditional shops selling carpets and other Turkish goods.

Every Thursday there is a local market selling fruit, veg, spices clothes and gifts. It is a unique and enjoyable experience not to missed. Cheaper than Asda!

Bars and restaurants

There are two restaurants that are open in the Patara Prince resort in high season (one in low season) but for more choice a visit to Kalkan town is a must. There a number of bars in Kalkan ranging from chilled out relaxing bars to enjoy a cocktail, or more livelier bars to dance the night away. There is also a huge choice of restaurants, over 100! These consist of roof top restaurants with views to the sea and mountains, quaint back street restaurants or the stunning harbour side restaurants. The standard of food is very high but there is a number of different cuisines to suit every taste and budget !If you like good food Kalkan is an ideal choice.

Tours and sites

Kalkan is the ideal location to visit the sites . There are a number of historical sites nearby such as Letoon and Patara and boat trips can be arranged from the harbour on the fabulous gullet boats. There are a number of tour operators in the town and Kalkan also has a regular Dolmus (bus) service to sites and beaches.
