La-Tuiliere is a fantastic property in the heart of the beautiful Charente is ideal for family holidays, group getaways, or retreats. The main house has 6 large bedrooms, and there are a further 2 bedrooms in the attached gite. The property is private and can only be reached via a 200 meter tree lined drive. The large attractive gardens provide plenty of space to relax. There are elegant formal gardens in the front, whilst the spacious open gardens at the back seem to go on forever. There is also a large function room available for retreats, yoga courses, or as a general games room for holiday groups. The large pool has a wide terrace for sun loungers and parsols for soaking up the wonderful Charentaise sunshine. This pool measures 12m x 6m. There is also a small paddling pool for young children. This pool measures 1 meter x 6 meters.

We have had many happy guests stay at the house and almost all are really astounded by how nice it is. It is a unique location in the middle of rolling countryside offering privacy and tranquillity for a relaxing holiday. We have a large heated pool with security fence for youngsters and games room with table tennis, pool and fusball. The house has been well equipped with comfortable beds, and furniture meaning you can enjoy your environment both indoors and outside. The gardens are well maintained and spacious with formal hedges and topiary in the front and wide sweeping lawns for your enjoyment in the back. There is just about everything here for the perfect holiday.

Thanks again for a really good holiday. Having done this type of holiday for several years now, La Tuiliere is the best place that we have stayed. It's also worth mentioning that Emma and Mike's presence was another plus-point with them managing to be simultaneously both helpful and unobtrusive!

4 hours to St Malo.

4 kilometers to bakery at Cherves-Chatelars.

6 Km to supermarkets, banks etc at Chasseneuil.

Further Details:

There are so many activities and attractions in the local area that there is something for everyone. There ae numrous old buildings to visit, including the magnificent Chateau at la Rochefoucauld. If you are looking to be energetic then there is the Adventure park at Massignac, which includes climbing through the tree tops, flying down zip wires and bungey jumping. There are water sports such as canoeing on the Tardoire or Vienne, cycling through the undulating Charentaise countryside, golf, exhilarating country walks and even the Velo rail. (Cycling a wagon on disused train tracks).

Thoughout the year various events take place in the area. Angouleme plays host to a vintage car rally in September, and a comic book convention in January. Cognac is world famous for its distilleries and Limoges for is china. Not far to the north is Poiteirs where you will find Futurescope and the valley de Singes (Monkey world), whilst the atlantic coast is only a few hours drive to the West.

However, if this is all too much, you can just settle back in the back garden with a book and enjoy the peace and quiet, or doze on the sun beds by the pool.

Notes on accommodation: In typical style of Charantaise houses, the rooms are large and spacious, with beautiful stonework and décor throughout. The furniture and bedding is all of a high standard and generous proportions, with three rooms equipped with doubles beds that can convert to twins to cater for different group sleeping arrangements. There are soft rugs throughout the building, which are gentle on feet and perfect for children to play on. Cots are available and can be put in bedrooms as requested. Large flat screen tv in living room with English & French tv as well as DVD player. Cottage annexe also has a separate living room with tv. Wi-Fi available in most communal areas and bedrooms. Central heating not normally turned on during summer lets, but additional heating tariff is available on request. Tariff will vary depending on specific time of year. Wood for open fires can be provided at 10 Euros for a wheel barrel load. Outside: Large garden with gas BBQ, sun loungers, seating, terrace. Just outside back of main house is a smaller shaded garden ideal for eating outdoors. Large pool 12 x 6 meters just outside rear of main house. Pool open thru April to October. Pool heating will be available on request. April, May and October will incur 100 Euro weekly heating tariff. September will incur 50 Euro heating tariff. June July & August no heating charge applied. Utility Room: fridge, freezer, washing machine, shower. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath Towels & luxurious 100% Egyptian cotton linen are included. Pool towels not provided. At the end of stay a cleaning service of accommodation areas can be provided for 80 Euros, if required. Each morning the Caretaker will clean pool etc. Caretaker/Guardian stays on site in private garden cottage well away from house

Beautiful home and surroundings. A must stay.

Eveything about this property is magical. As you descend up the tree lined driveway you know this place is going to be special. The house on arrival is stunning. Exactly what you see in the pictures, but so much better. The house is light and airy and had plenty of room for the 15 people in our party. It was wonderful to all be able to sit and eat together. So spacious! People can go off and do their own thing (if at times you need a 'time out').

The pool area is a great size with sun loungers and the pool was perfect. We had every pool inflatable imaginable and it took all of them with room for more!

Every evening we ate alfresco with a great BBQ at our disposal.

The kitchen is also fully equipped and we made use of this!

The house and surroundings are laid out perfectly and what I loved is that every day you discovered something new; a cupboard full of games, or a drawer full of maps for things to explore.

The games room was a god send for the children (mainly the adults).

The countryside is beautiful and amazing for quiet country walks.

Mike and Emma (the guardians) were incredibly warm and welcoming and looked after us extremely well without being intrusive and were on hand if we needed them.

Booking the house was a simple process and always received timely communications from the owner

This house is remote and you will need a car. Supermarkets are 10-15 minutes away.

Every one of our party adored this house and it has given us a lifetime of very fine memories.

Amazing week had by all!

We were a group of four families with six children between us, aged 4 months to nearly 3 years! I was initially worried the house may not have been big enough for us all but was very wrong! The photos don't do it justice, it's huge!! It would have comfortably fitted another family!

We all loved the pool and gorgeous gardens, the kitchen was perfectly equipped for us all and we were provided with a baby monitor and steriliser. The house far exceeded our expectations.

Emma and Mike are the 'caretakers' who live on site. They are really friendly and helpful (Mike fixed our buggy wheel) and don't intrude on you at all.

The house is quite remote which was perfect for us allowing us to hire bikes and go running to explore. It's out of the way and incredibly peaceful.

It was a huge bonus that the pool area is fenced off so there was no worry of the children around the water.

We made the most of the outdoor seating area and BBQ and the gamesroom was an added bonus.

Thank you for our amazing holiday, we will hopefully return next year!

Beautiful House with all you need

We were a party of 17 ages ranged from 18 months to 73.

The house was fantastic with plenty of space inside and out to accommodate everyone's needs. The young people made full use of the games room and the huge garden with badminton court.

The pool is gorgeous and kept scrupulously clean.

We were extremely lucky and had perfect summer weather and ate outside for all meals.

Two things I would improve if I was being picky

The Bbq is great but where it is is directly in the sun and the poor bbq chef was melting it could do with being moved to a shadier area.

Outside lights for the garden terrace would have further enhanced the outdoor eating in the evenings. The romance of candles became a bit tiresome after a couple of nights.

However these issues were trivial compared to everything else the house offers. Comfortable, spacious, stylish and so well equipped with all you might need for a perfect family holiday.

The house Caretakers Emma and Mike were fantastic. So helpful and accessible without ever being obtrusive lovely lovely people.

Thank you James and Tamsin La Tuiliere lived up to all the expectations I had for celebrating my 50th birthday with all the family and so much more. We made some fantastic memories we will treasure for many years to come.

A great spacious property, ideal for families

I stayed at the wonderful property with my three daughters, son in laws and 8 grandchildren who ranged in ages from 4 - 19. Plenty of room and lots to do with snooker table, table tennis, table football, badminton and of course the large swimming pool and smaller pool. Caretakers Emma and Mike brilliant .

Fantastic Stay

8 of us stayed here to watch the historic car racing at Angouleme and used the house as a base. It really is as lovely as it looks in the pictures, the rooms are huge with really comfy beds, there is a fantastic games room, really well equipped kitchen and a huge swimming pool. The setting is fantastic and none of us could find fault with it. The owner is also really good to deal with and responded with any queries we had. Perfect house for either a large group or a big family gathering. Highly recommended.
