Guestbook comments from the owner

“We had a great week at Rosemary Cottage. Clean, tidy, and beautifully situated to enjoy what we think is the very best of Suffolk – Southwold, Walberswick, and all the lovely villages round about. The woodburner is a crowd-pleaser and the cottage itself is cosy but spacious. The owners were friendly, attentive and easy to deal with. Highly recommended.” Simon Feeney

Tired house for short people

  • 1 of 5

I've just stayed at Rosemary Cottage and had a thoroughly unpleasant time!

It's a very tired little house and the second double bedroom (in the roof) is 5' 7'' at it's tallest point so no good for grown-ups. The stairs are a death trap, so don't even consider staying here with children under 5. The microwave doesn't work and the cold water pressure is only a dribble for the bath, which is a problem when bathing children although the shower is okay. There is also no wifi or phone signal so you're completely cut off.

All in all I deeply regret booking!

Owner's Response: I am sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay. Our cottage is a 16th century cottage with beams and character, which is clearly described as such in the particulars and the photos which can be seen on the website. If you are looking for a modern house, then Rosemary Cottage is not for you! We have never had any bad reviews about the staircase or the double bedroom ceiling height. We have 3 young children who regularly use the staircase without any problem and it is certainly not "a death trap"! The attic bedroom is also suitable for adults. In relation to your comments about our cottage, these are not consistent with the facts as borne out by the other reviews that we have received. For example "The cottage has charm and appeal due to it's age. The kids loved the narrow staircase up to the attic room (their den!).” and "Beams aplenty, very good local pub 5 minutes walk away and the Suffolk coast a few miles drive. Perfect location for a holiday or weekend break.” Finally, the microwave does work but the plug needs turning on to the side of it and the water pressure is fine for running a bath if needed, and is also good when using the shower, which most people tend to use.

Character cottage in great location

  • 4 of 5

The cottage has charm and appeal due to it's age. The kids loved the narrow staircase up to the attic room (their den!). Clean and homely but is in need of some work and repairs. This is reflected in the price really. Great that we could take our dog.

We needed to use the camp bed for our teenage son but it was not very suitable. Padded out it was bearable for a few nights.

Situated in a lovely village with easy access to the coast. Walking distance to the pub which served good food.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We have since spoken and the minor repair work which you mentioned has been undertaken. The camp bed has also been replaced. We agree that our cottage is in a great location, close to the sea and our kids love playing in the upstairs bedroom too!
