About this property

Gîte For 6 People Near Mont Ventoux, Pool, 3 Hectares Of Parkland & Fruit Trees

The gîte of Le Mas de Maupas is the west wing of the main house. Situated in the valley between Malaucène and Suzette in 3 hectares of parkland, it is an ideal location for cycling, touring or simply enjoying the peace and beauty of the Vaucluse countryside. Wifi, bed linen, towels all included. The 3 bedrooms all have twin beds. Two of the rooms share a bathroom and have a balcony. The third bedroom has ensuite bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and because of the old, thick walls the gîte is always cool in summer. There is a small courtyard facing south next to the old well (still operational). A west facing covered terrace outside the salon is ideal for barbecues or sitting enjoying the views. To read reviews please connect to Trip Advisor (we have 5 stars).

Séjour très reposant.
Nous avons passé un séjour très reposant. Nous avons fait de belles visites de villages et fini notre journée par une baignade dans la piscine. Madame TEMPLETON est très accueillante et bienveillante avec ses hôtes.

Host profile image
Jim and Annie Templeton started looking for a home in Vaucluse 7 years ago. We visited scores of properties over the next 6 years. We left the UK for good in 2010, closing our logistics business and Annie hung up her helmet and retired from motor racing. We finally found what we wanted in early 2012 when we first saw Le Mas de Maupas. Although the construction of the house was complete, the interior was a shell with no plumbing or electricity. Work started on the house in June 2012, we moved in to our accommodation in October 2012 and the gîte was completed at the beginning of August 2013. All the guests who have stayed have left good reviews (we have 5 stars on Trip Advisor) and we have very much enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. Sadly Jim died in November 2013 but he spent a wonderful year here at Le Maupas and he would be so pleased with the success it is currently enjoying.

Why they chose this property

We chose northern Vaucluse for many reasons. We have family with a vineyard close by so we had got to know the region well. Malaucène is an historic town and even in winter is busy with cyclists and tourists. Nearby Vaison la Romaine is a great culture centre with concerts and Art exhibitions and of course Avignon is only half an hour away. We have found the local people very friendly and welcoming.

We are in a very quiet valley but it never feels remote. There are many scenic walks and villages to see. The views all round are wonderful and of course the weather isn't bad!

What makes this property unique

A beautiful, tranquil spot with 3 hectares of parkland and fruit trees. There is and abundance of wild flowers, orchids, poppies, evening primroses to name but a few.
There is a workshop/garage for cycles and any other equipment which needs to be stored under cover.
We have a large barn which can accommodate precious cars if they need to be kept under a roof (your touring convertible won't suffer from the elements here!)

The swimming pool faces Mont Ventoux and the experience of swimming is enhanced by the spectacular views all around.
