About the Owner

As a retired sports person, I was looking for a place to take the family. The New Forest and South Coast has always been our favourite holiday destination for the family and our dogs. We started with a lovely Lymington Cottage (sleeps 6: ref e6604), but being presented with an expanding family, through weddings and new grandchildren we have recently bought a property just along the road in Highcliffe (sleeps 8: ref e13577). Both properties enjoy a similar, close proximity to the New Forest National Park, and South Coast. We can now choose from walks along the beach, paddling and sunbathing, or Forest walks and market town shopping. We love the diversity on offer in the area but most of all we love eating good food and enjoying each others company. We hope you will too.

a little gem

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from staying at Rosette cottage, home from home, so well kept, bright and airy, everything supplied you could possibly want, photos dont do it justice. Lovely and quiet, but a couple of minutes walk from town. so nice and clean, warm had to turn radiators off, lovely to sit with patio doors open looking onto patio, cant praise it enough didn't want to come home, certainly one of the best cottages we've stayed in your every whim catered for, as i said a little gem.

Relaxing cottage in a lovely town

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic and relaxing time in Lymington based from a great location at this cottage.

We especially appreciated all the little touches - the welcome pack on arrival, useful locations to visit and restaurant recommendations. The cottage was ideally located away from the busy high street but easily walkable to all Lymington had to offer and the surrounding countryside. It was well equipped with everything we needed and courtyard garden area was perfect for relaxing with a bottle of wine in the evening!

We will be back soon. Thanks for a great stay in a lovely home.

Cottage & facilities excellent

  • 5 of 5

The location and photos of this lovely cottage were the main reasons for booking this holiday. The real thing was even more impressive. If you are looking for a clean, spacious, well equipped place to stay in Lymington then look no further. Everything was provided to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable no matter what the weather. Fortunately the weather was glorious so we were able make use of the (private) garden and furniture provided. It was an ideal base to explore the New Forest. If we return to the area we would certainly re-book and have no hesitation in recommending this property to our friends & family. Thank you

Lovely cottage in a fab location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped, and the location is perfect. It's so easy to walk to the town and quay with lots of shops and pubs etc. The new forest is just a few minutes away by car.

The stairs are steep but that wasn't a problem for us or the kids, we just kept an eye on them! We would definitely stay again and recommend Rosetta cottage and lymington as a place to stay or visit.

Location

From the Owner

After loving family visits to Lymington we bought and renovated this property to have a 'get away' place for ourselves. However our children (25 - 35 year olds!) love going down with their friends too. We hope you will enjoy the property and the surrounding area as much as we do and will find yourselves rested and ready for life after each visit. For me I like nothing better than sitting with a cool drink in the garden on a lovely summer evening enjoying deciding where to walk to eat.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Sailing, Cycling, Horse riding, walks in Forest. Canoeing and kayaking in Beaulieu. In Lymington itself boat trips, ferry to isle of Wight, Bandstand, guided town walks, St Barbe museum and Art gallery.

for a wider list we suggest you look at the Lymington town website which includes great information for activites and 12 local restaurents within walking distance www.lymington.org

Coast/Beach:

Nearest beach is Milford on Sea 4.8 miles

Barton on Sea 6.6 miles and Highcliff 7.2 miles is a lovely sandy beach.

You can walk from Keyhaven (4 miles drive) to Hurst Castle on a lovely raised spit. We love to blow the cobwebs from our hair there. The walk can take about 2 hours but well worth it and you can always stop at the castle with a picnic. There is a ferry back to Keyhaven if you fancy a different route back but check sailing times. Bournemouth beach is 19 miles great day out.

Travel:

Nearest airport is Bournemouth (but Southampton is easy too).

Waterloo Station, London has direct line to Brockenhurst (4.5 miles away) and has regular connections to Lymington station branch line so you can leave London and be here in approximately 2 hours. You do not need a car, there are buses that travel to all surrounding areas - Station for train and buses in easy walking distance.

Distances:

Lyndhurst is 8.6 miles (visit Alice in Wonderland's grave) Brockenhurst is 4.5, Beaulieu is 6.3 miles away and Southampton 18.6. Sandy beaches of Christchurch and Bournemouth and Boscombe are only 30 to 40 minutes away and the Chewton Glen is 20 minutes drive.

Further Details:

The property is within walking distance of several lovely pubs or restaurants and the Fish and Chip shop on the High Street is outstanding. You can choose from fishy menu at the Ship in on the Quay, Minster pies at the pub round the corner and many other options. We like to wander along Waterloo Road into Mill lane and from there either onto the old cobbled street or short riverside walk to the quay. Lymington town has Waitrose, Marks and Spencer and Tesco's supermarkets plus good take aways. For Bank or hospitals close by we enclose location and numbers within our detailed information sheet sent with your booking reservation.
