Unique Villa Total Privacy Stunning Sea / Sunset Views Nr Polis, 30 mins Paphos

Overview

Property

Updated: 25-Nov-2016
Luxury, total privacy, sea views, heated pool, UK tv, Sky, WiFi, outside bar

Astéri is a unique luxury Cyprus villa, completely private, and very special, with the most amazing and dramatic views all the way around and down to the sea and the Akamas Peninsular and Blue Lagoon - it will truly take your breath away! Check our reviews.

Even though Asteri is a large 5 bedroom villa (1 bedroom closed off for 8 persons or less - making 4 bedrooms) it is suitable for smaller parties too, and even couples will find it a wonderful escape with a magical feel all of its own.

Perched above the delightful village of Steni, Astéri enjoys complete privacy but is not isolated at all - being just a minute hop down to the village and the lovely local cafe there, and then just a few minutes drive to Polis Old Town and Latchi Marina with its contemporary bars and restaurants overlooking the yachts, and miles of great beaches. Paphos is just a 25 minute drive away.

The property is ranch-style, all on one level, with two bedrooms/bathrooms in one wing, and two/three bedrooms/bathrooms in an opposite wing, with the living areas in the middle. This allows a good degree of privacy for families or if sharing.

Please note - there is a 5th bedroom and bathroom which can be opened up on request for larger parties. (extra fee applies, which is calculated when you put in the number of your party) Otherwise the property remains as four bedrooms/four bathrooms.

Throw open the patio doors on your first morning, and you will find the intoxicating aroma of jasmine & the truly amazing views over the mountains, villages and citrus groves down to the sea quite overwhelming. In the evenings the sunsets over the sea and Akamas Peninsular will truly amaze you - and after dark there is some star show!

Astéri offers luxurious and hugely spacious outdoor living with a wonderful shaded lounge area with sofa seating for 20!, a 50" flat screen for outdoor evening movies, a 10m pool (heated if required), and a large dining area within a huge wooden pergola, alongside which is a large stone BBQ kitchen. Plus we now have a wonderful outside cocktail bar with fridge and music system - here you can perch on a stool, cocktail in hand, and watch the sun set dramatically over the hills and Akamas Peninsula - just magical!

Inside the villa is cool and luxurious with good quality furnishings and works of art, much more of a home than a holiday house. There is a 50" tv in the lounge with satellite channels as well as access to all live UK tv channels plus all Sky premium, movies, and sports channels in HD, there is also a DVD player (plus library). There is a bluetooth/stereo dock also.

We have good speed unlimited wifi throughout the villa (and works outside too inc the bar). We provide an ipad, printer and local mobile phone for your use. There is a good mobile phone signal.

There is central heating (extra cost) and a real fire for the cooler evenings, plus pool heating if required (extra cost).

Astéri really is unique, and one of a kind, with a position and views that are hard, if not impossible, to beat. It is not your average holiday rental at all. It will be our permanent home one day, but in the meantime we are happy to share it with careful guests.

Wonderful

What a fantastic villa, the location is superb, Steni is an immaculate village. The photos and listing details on Owners Direct accurately represent this amazing villa. It is Totally private with wonderul views, just heavenly. The booking was easy and Graham was very helpful.

We used the local car hire company recommended by Graham, great service, we were met at the airport which was handy, we arrived in the dark. The car was older than you would get from the big car hire companies but it got us from A to B.

The villa was lit up on the hillside on our arrival it looked magical and certainly impressed. The local manager popped in to see us on our first morning, it was lovely to know someone was on hand, just in case.

I would certainly recommend this villa to others and would consider going back. what a great place. The local cafe/restaurant gave a very friendly welcome, good food and was great value for money. There are some lovely restaurants in Polis and Latchi is lovely for a wander.

A relaxing holiday!

Fab villa, fantastic views, very peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Impressive villa with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The outside area is fabulous with lovely views. We wanted a peaceful, relaxing week away and the location is perfect for that. The villa is not overlooked at all so it's very private. 10 minutes drive to the nearest town (Polis) where there is a supermarket and plenty places to eat. Within 2-3 minutes drive from the villa is the Water Mill cafe which is good for snacks and drinks and to pass the time of day. The only thing that could be improved is the pool - the bottom of the pool needs to be resurfaced, but despite that we still thoroughly enjoyed our time at Asteri and would highly recommend it. We would book this villa again if we come back to Cyprus.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice comments, and very pleased you enjoyed the villa. Regarding the pool, you are right, it is due some maintenance over the winter, so hopefully all good and ready for 2016, as well as a few other improvements in general. I really hope to see you all back again one day.

Amazing Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday at Asteri. We chose this villa because we wanted space, seclusion and privacy and we were not disappointed! The location of the villa is perfect, alone on the hillside with marvellous views of the countryside and the sea beyond, yet it is only a few minutes walk down to Steni. The villa has a really spacious living area and is extremely well equipped. The barbecue is amazing. We don't usually go in for barbecues on holiday but we just had to try this one out and it gave great results.Expat TV with catch-up was a real bonus as our visit coincided with the rugby world cup! There is an enormous amount of outside space so you can always find a quiet corner and full sun, partial or complete shade as you wish at any time of day. We loved the ' Asteri Bar' which we could adjourn to after dinner out for some late night revelry without any fear of disturbing the neighbours ( there are none) We liked the Y and P hotel in Latchi (excellent fresh fish and seafood) and the restaurant in the village has good food at reasonable prices. We found Yiannis at Petride Rentals (Graham's recommendation for car hire) friendly and most helpful as were Graham's local management team.

Stunning Villa

  • 5 of 5

This is quite simply the most stunning villa we have ever stayed in. Spacious beyond imagination, it has a peaceful and airy feel the moment you walk through the door. Privacy in the layout and hillside setting is ideal for a large family group with every practical need catered for. The outside space provides overwhelmingly beautiful 360 degree views, with full sun during the day and a different sunset to enjoy each evening. The pool is delightful and a welcome relief from the summer heat. The BBQ / outside cocktail and eating area area again offers another lovely and spacious feature.

I booked Asteri for our family holiday approximately a year before we visited, as we were quite restricted on dates. After spending what felt like weeks searching for the right property, I'm so glad I chose Asteri. The owner was extremely helpful and obliging all through the booking process and beyond. I can also highly recommend their hire car service which was professional, courteous and far less hassle than we have experienced when hiring vehicles previously. We enjoyed the villa so much that we hardly left it, although we can recommend the friendly welcome at the Steni cafe and the Latchi Watersports Centre for a professional service when hiring a boat.

All in all a wonderful, relaxing and luxurious family holiday. Highly recommended villa.

Great time

  • 4 of 5

Villa Asteri is perfect for those who want an undisturbed holiday away from the resorts, and yet it is close for the shops and restaurants. Set in the hills overlooking the sea, you will not find better views of the sunsets and the surrounding countryside. The villa lived up to our expectations and the management (both in England and in Cyprus) was faultless. I would recommend this villa to those who want a mix of self-catering and amenities.

Honeymoon Bliss

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week up in this villa for our honeymoon after getting married at Pafos Town Hall and didn't want to leave. We found it was perfectly peaceful yet not too far away from the supermarket to top up on groceries. Admittedly we rattled around in the place which is huge but we had decided to treat ourselves and we were not disappointed.

The owners left us a lovely flower petal display on the bed with a message of congratulations and a bottle of fizz on the side of the spa bath which was a nice touch plus the emailed to make sure we were ok so we felt truly looked after.

The 4 bedrooms are all a good size and decorated nicely and with 3 of them with en-suite bathrooms it is ideal for a large family group or a of 4 couples.

Kitchen and lounge area are a great size too but the main beauty of this villa is the outside areas.

The pool area with sun loungers is a good size, the pool very warm thanks to the pool heating and the outside gardens and seating areas are vast meaning that the property gets sun from sunrise to sunset.

The views from both sides of the villa are amazing and we never got tired of sitting on the terrace in a morning with the first coffee of the day looking out across the countryside or down towards the coast.

The outside dining area and BBQ are superb and we invited family up to visit for a big BBQ and we had a great time so this property really would be great to spend a week with a big group having BBQs.

Many thanks also to the team at Neromylos Café (Watermill) at the bottom of the hill opposite the Steni Museum who were very friendly and do some great local food and desserts which will not disappoint.

I will be disappointed if we do not find an excuse to return here in the future............

As we were in the villa in April it did get a little chilly at night a couple of times but we used the wood fire to create a great cosy room. a large bag of wood from a kiosk type store cost us EUR6.00 and lasted us all week.

Location

From the Owner

Astéri is our favourite and we hope to live here one day soon. It is so private and exclusive, and yet not miles from anywhere - it really is the best of both worlds. Everyone who stays loves it.

Activity and Interests

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

There are lovely sandy and shingle beaches with beach bars and waterside restaurants overlooking the new marina to the east of Latsi, just 8-10 minutes drive away. Speed and sailing boats can be hired here and also snorkelling and Padi diving arranged. There are long sandy beaches with sun loungers. Just a short walk from the villa you will find Neromylos Coffee Shop, the coolest coffee shop in Cyprus, selling iced frappé coffee, cold beer, genuine Cypriot cuisine and desserts to die for!

Travel:

Paphos airport approx 45 minutes drive. Larnaca airport approx 1 hour 40 mins. Car hire is recommended. We can arrange this locally, and they will pick you up from the airport and take you to the villa (and vice versa on departure) All included in the car hire price! This is great if you arrive to Cyprus after dark and do not want to drive yourself. Although we provide good directions, so it is not too difficult to drive yourself.

Distances:

Steni 1 minute drive / 5 min walk

Persterona 2 minutes drive

Polis - 8 minute drive

Latsi/Latchi - 10 minutes drive

Lysos - 8 minutes drive

Paphos - 35 minutes drive

Supermarkets 2/3 min drive

Further Details:

Steni is an unspoilt and very charming little Cypriot village which has a wonderful and very interesting museum with one of the best laid out and fascinating displays of Cypriot life anywhere on the island. It also has a great cafe run by the lovely Dawn & Mathew.

There are three very well stocked shops, minimarkets and fruit markets within a few minutes drive from Asteri.

The relaxed and atmospheric Old Town of Polis is around a 8 minute drive. There are winding streets, small interesting shops and little taverns in the old town. The newer part of Polis has some larger supermarkets and bars, some showing sport, restaurants, banks, fruit markets and lots of shops selling tourist items and daily wares. The Baths of Aphrodite are 11km west of Polis and around a 10 minute drive. Surrounded by fig trees and the sound of running water, it is a nice spot to spend an hours or so away from the heat.

There is horse riding available near to the villa, trekking through the mountains in nearby Lysos is a perfect way to get close to nature and take in the magnificent views. There is also a watersports centre in Latsi. Tylliria is an untouched, tranquil forested territory with a few beaches. The drive there is very scenic. Head for Pomos which is a lush area with olive trees, citrus groves and vines.
