About this property

Peaceful Outdoor Dining Areas With Uninterrupted Views Of The Sun Setting...

For us a villa in the sun had to have the perfect west facing aspect for sunset family dinners on the terrace. It needed to be close enough to fantastic restaurants & local amenities (like mains electricity, internet, supermarket, pharmacy, kids playpark etc), rural enough for open views & tranquility, & as close as possible to the surf. Plus it needed thoughtful safety & entertainment for young children to ensure parents can relax. We’d been renting villas for years in the Canaries & had not found the perfect house so in 2012 built our own. electrically heated pool to ensure warmth even in the winter. Two master bedrooms have super kingsize beds, every mattress & all linen in the villa is the finest quality to ensure the perfect nights sleep. It’s an incredible house for a couple, a family or a group of friends to visit. We hope you can enjoy it too.

Everything you could ever want for the perfect family holiday.
The villa had everything for a great family holiday, especially the kids. Loads of toys for the young ones, a nice warm pool for all and a lovely out door area for the grownups to chill out in, once the little ones were tucked up. Emma was extremely helpful, with nothing too much trouble, so a great time was had by all.

Perfect for family holidays
Hi, I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU! For our wonderful holiday at Villa Sonrisa. I visited for 9 nights from 18th to 27th March with my two children aged 2 1/2years and 4 months, my mother-in-law and husband. It was better than a home from home with books and toys suitable for my 2 1/2 year old; a potty for our recently potty trained little lady; children’s cutlery and plastic bowls and plates etc; a baby bath for our little boy etc etc. You have really thought of everything a family could need whilst on holiday. The green was perfect for a 2 year old to tire out all 3 adults! I realised I can still shoot a ball through a basket ball hoop - hoorah! My husband developed an addiction to putting whilst we were there 😂 We loved our morning caffe con lecce and croissant at El Goloso where my daughter played on the slide whilst we enjoyed breakfast. The pool was wonderful and a lovely temperature for the little people. As we left we couldn’t help but start to plan when we could next come back. Look forward to booking our return visit soon xxx

Ideal villa, good layout, and good location
Lovely villa. Good layout, pool good temperature. Local coffee shops lovely , handy supermarket. Lots of great beaches nearby and plenty of activities, walked to volcano from villa, went surfing, hired road bikes etc Minor points we couldn't find light switch for the pool or pumps for the bikes.

Felt like home
On the day that we left my 10 year old son said "that felt like home". It was clear from day one that Sonrisa was more than just a villa, we were (family of 6 with youngest aged 10 and eldest 16) staying in somebody else's, very much loved, home. We were comfortable, spoilt with poolside loungers, cushioned gazebo and even a hammock. Every need was taken care of, especially the children's with the heated pool and outside games area. The island was full of surprises from delicious cake and coffee in a local café, to exhilarating waves crashing in on the West coast near El Cotillo (less than 10 minute drive from villa), to early 15th century towns in the mountains, to overwhelming volcanic craters. Easily our favourite holiday to date and we will be returning to Villa Sonrisa!

The villa was lovely
We have older boys but did notice how safe it would be for younger children and plenty of activities for them too. Ours liked just hanging about in the hammock and other chairs. We had a wonderful time exploring the North of the Island in the hire car and found some amazing beaches. I would highly recommend taking the Catarmaran 4 hour trip from Correlejo. We took wetsuits to use in the sea and also went bodyboarding but there were certain places/days a swimsuit was fine. We went in January and we were told by locals that it was much more windy than normal for this time of year which made the temperature of the vila feel quite cold ( especially after coming from a heated house) so I would recommend taking warm clothes and blankets to relax in the evenings. There were electric heaters which took the chill off the air.

Guy & Anna Cribb, parents of three boys.

Guy spent 25 years travelling the world spending about four months a year sleeping in hotels, villas, vans and board bags- firstly a professional windsurfer and more recently as an acclaimed international windsurfing coach. He knows how important a comfortable bed is!

Anna works tirelessly with their three boys so she knows how important a good nights sleep is!

They both love Fuerte as it has the best beaches for kids the world over, perfect surf & year round sunshine, yet is only just down the road from northern Europe.
They have built this house to suit their family & friends needs after years of searching for the right one. It is little surprise it is the coolest pad in town!

My name is Nerea, Guy's P.A., I will answer your query.

Why they chose this property

"We had travelled to Fuerte many times due to the perfect weather, surf, beaches and lagoons for kids, combined with great food, real Canarian culture and no package tourists, all just a 3.30hr flight from our local airport.

We stayed in lots of villas over the years but found faults in all of them, thus not returning to any of them again. One luxury villa even had the water tank lid left off- a complete death trap!

We tried hotels but didn't enjoy some of the other residents, so we decided to invest in our own villa that could cover all the safety aspects, luxury features, comfort, outdoor living and sports access we're into.

After extensive planning and work we now have our dream villa with no detail left unconsidered.

Next is to find time to use it! Until then, it's yours!

What makes this property unique

Most Canarian villas have south facing terraces to shelter from the north east trade winds & enjoy winter sun. Ours too, BUT for us one of the most important aspects of holidays is to have outdoor dining, so we have a perfect west facing terrace with uninterrupted views to enjoy sunset dinners & BBQ with family or friends- we have not seen another villa like it.

Children's entertainment and safety is paramount to ensure a relaxing holiday- parents can be sure we've thought of everything. We've even got an electrically heated pool which is vital in the winter.

Ultimately though it's the location- we're close enough to stroll into the village yet far enough out to have very few neighbours and open landscape around us. Most people think this is the best villa in town. We certainly do.
