Apartment in Krattigen, Nr. Lake Thun, Bernese Oberland, Switzerland - Quiet Edge Of Village Location Except For The Cowbells On Occasions

This spacious apartment is on the upper ground floor and is light and airy with free WiFi. It consists of a spacious living/dining area with comfortable sofas and TV/DVD. The recently refurbished kitchen has oven/hob fridge/freezer and microwave. The double bedroom comprises a king size bed and plenty of wardrobe space. There is a bathroom with WC, washbasin and bath/shower as well as a separate cloakroom with WC and hand washing basin. There is a balcony overlooking the lake and to the east for morning sun.

I am originally from Switzerland and still have family nearby in Thun. I now live with my English husband and 2 children in the Cotswolds, where we also do B & B.

Why Nicole Arkell chose Thunersee

We love the area which is close enough to the mountains for skiing in winter and in summer a pleasant walk from the lake of Thun for a swim. I love bicycling and walking in the area and on windy days Lake Thun is good for sailing and Charles will hire a boat down at the harbour in Spiez (4 miles). We also enjoy a day out on the River Aare in a large blow up Dinghy from Thun to Bern (about 26kms in 3.5 hours). Refreshingly cold to swim in and take a picnic. Tennis in Spiez and golf at Interlaken or also available. A day out on the mountain opposite, take one of the large boats across the lake, up the funicular and then the cable car. Walk from the top to the middle station where you can hire Trotty Bikes is also a favourite for our guests.

What makes this apartment unique

We like the spacious living area which opens out onto the balcony on which we enjoy breakfast and evening drinks in the summer. You can sit in comfort and look out at the ever changing view with boats on the lake in summer and mists and clouds around the mountains in winter. All year you can enjoy watching the farmers below working on the land making hay and tending their cattle and listening to the cow bells. The village has a pub/restaurant within 5 minutes walk and a very well stocked shop within 10 minutes walk. There is an hourly bus service to the large railway station at Spiez.

Perfect place to be if you want to explore and enjoy the "wanderwegs". The included passes are perfect for getting around on the bus and the stop is not even a two minute walk away from the apartment.

Beautiful, relaxing getaway

The home was located close to many of the attractions that drew us to switzerland (mainly Lauterbrunnen Valley/Jungfrau region, Trift Bridge, Lake Oeschinensee), but far enough away to feel like a secluded getaway.

The home was clean, spacious, and had an incredible view of the lake. The paperwork was clear and well organized, and the owner communicated in a timely manner with all of our questions.

The home would get quite warm during the day, but cooled off quickly when we opened the doors up. The blow dryer was powerful and worked well. The tub was high and difficult to get in and out of.

The toaster blew a fuse in the apartment and the key holder was quick to come over and address the problem. Super convenient to have access to a fridge and stove for making dinner and breakfast.

Overall, a beautiful, peaceful home and a great way to end our days that were full of adventure.

We had a wonderful stay at Nicole' beautiful apartment!

We love this apartment much!

Living room is in an impressive beautiful setting with an openining kitchen and lovely dining table.

Bed room is so relaxing and cosy.

Bathroom is very charming.

There is a supper market with 5 minutes walking.

We cooked a nice dinner on our first day and had a great expereince of dinner at the amazing balcony where we can see many cows on the green hills surroundingly and the stunning view of mountain and Thun lake!

Nicole's apartment is well-equipped. We had everything we need for a real living in apartment.

It is good location in Krattigen Kirche. It is very close to bus station ( a few minutes by walking on the left hand side) ; 8 minutes to Spei train station by bus 61; 5 mintes by walking to restaurant or supper market ; it is close and very easy for visiting Blausee lake, Thun lake, Brenze lake and Interlaken by bus.

People in this beautiful town are so helpful and nice.

Nicole and her lovely assistance are very professional and freindly in welcoming guests and helped us easy to find the apartment and got what we really need during our stay there! 😍?😍?❤️❤️🌻?🌻?

I wish I shall come back this beautiful and romantic apartment with my beloved ones!

Wow what a location, what a setting, what a view. We had a fabulous stay it this very spacious accommodation which has all you need. The apartment is so conveniently placed for walks from the door, visits to lovely towns & trips into the mountains. The bus (free with your card) leaves 5 minutes away & the local shop is well stocked with fresh food and every day essentials. Just sitting, lazing & gazing at the breathtaking view from the balcony was a holiday in itself. Such a memorable time.

Fantastic holiday stay

We are a couple who had a very enjoyable stay at this spacious property. It is set back from the lake to take in the fantastic views from its wrap around balcony. It has all the essentials, a well equipped kitchen for self catering, a good shower and is centrally located for exploring Lake Thun and its neighbour as well as the Oberland itself. We found a car made best use of our time but there is local buses and trains to get around. Nicole was very helpful with regards details, supplying information before travel, a card which gave free local travel on buses and trains and some local discounts. There is also a lot of leaflets in the apartment. There is no washing machine, but a stay in this property is worth any amount of hand washing needed. A fan for any unusual hot temperatures at night would be my only suggested improvement. I would highly recommend this apartment and we will certainly be back to take in things we did not have time to do (1 week was not long enough). Thanks Nicole.
