Orhaniye Stone Villa, Forest & Sea Views, Full AirCon, Private Pool, Very Quiet

Overview

Property

Updated: 08-Nov-2016
Villa Han in Orhaniye Village, Marmaris, Aegean Region, Turkey - Peaceful Location, 25 Mins To Marmaris, Large Shaded Terrace, 5 Bicycles Provided, Lovely Sunsets

Villa Han is a sleep 8/9 home (4 bedroom/4 bathrooms), nestled at the back of Orhaniye Village, only a 25 minute from Marmaris. If you are looking for a well appointed villa, with a crystal clear pool and a very quiet, green, rural location, then please read on! The 40sqm covered terrace provides plenty of room and plenty of shade from the hot Turkish summer, either to enjoy your meals al fresco, or reading a book on the relaxing couches. The raised aspect of Villa Han allows for views back down the valley to the sea (2.4km) and it's lovely sunsets. The pool and poolside area have great views out towards the mountains and pine forests. Lots of summer sun hits the pool area, with half the pool steps always shaded which is great for the kids. Villa Han is in a very quiet location surrounded by fields and a few village houses. The only noise comes from the village mosque (600 mts away) and the odd passing car. We provide 5 adult bicycles and 1 childs bike, free of charge with the villa. Orhaniye is a natural village to cycle around with a number of loops so make the most of it. The villagers can supply you with fresh village/organic honey, milk and eggs - you have never tasted anything like it! The cleaner will come a couple of times during your stay for a quick clean, leaving you to enjoy the house and your holiday. I will pop in every other morning to attend the pool and make sure it's crystal clear for your use. Villa Han is very much a rural type get-away, but still very close to the nearest beach. Orhaniye is charming and authentic and working Turkish Village. You are just as likely to see a laden donkey walk past the villa, as you are a car. Come visit us, take a breath and enjoy the slow pace of life here. If Villa Han is not available, please try our other house, located in Selimiye Village - Villa Gelincik (TK2134)

About the Owner

I live in Turkey with my wife (Turkish) and young family. We built our first stone villa (Villa Gelincik, TK2134) in 2009/2010 and decided to repeat the blood, sweat and tears again for Villa Han (TK3335).

We live in the nearby resort of Marmaris, so I take care of all things to do with the villa alongside our wonderful housekeepers, Fatma and Hatice. I make a point of greeting all of our guests if at all possible and I am your contact for the duration of your holiday. Feel free to ask any questions at all as I am only to happy to help. Hope to see you at Villa Han or Villa Gelincik!

Hidden gem in undiscovered Turkey

  • 5 of 5

Villa Han is an absolute gem, the photos on the website do not do it justice. We felt boutique hotel/plantation house and couldn't have found a more perfect place to chill out whilst sampling the real Turkey.

The house is large, modern and very clean. The four bedrooms are all of a good size and have their own bathrooms. The layout is clever and really makes the most of the views and space. The pool and garden are beautiful, we loved the planting and the fruit trees and sitting out in the evenings on the deck watching the sun go down.

The owner Gary made us feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble for him, the ultimate professional. Not only does he look after the pool and sort out any problems but he has lots of really useful advice on the local area and Turkey in general. His pride in the house and genuine enthusiasm for the local area are infectious.

This part of Turkey really does feel quite undiscovered and we loved being high up in the village hidden amongst the locals. There is a really useful minimart in the village for almost everything with a very friendly owner who will even do home deliveries. The village has abundant fruit trees lining the roads so it was easy to stock up on figs and limes.

There's lots to do locally including markets, beaches, waterfalls, Selimye and Sogut. The coastal vistas and rugged beauty of the area are quite captivating. We also ventured over to the beautiful and remote Datca Peninsular including the ruins at Knidos, not to be missed!

A beautiful and comfortable home in an unspoilt part of Turkey with an exceptional host - it doesn't get much better than this.

What a lovely Villa & Gary and his wife were so welcoming. The villa is in a fantastic location & very chilled out / relaxed. Gary was extremely helpful at advising on local attractions and getting information for us, even to the extent of hiring a private boat for an evening cruise - highly recommended! Gorgeous villa with everything you need plus much more.

Overall fantastic holiday & very rarely for us... we may well be back!!!

Beutiful and Peaceful Villa

  • 5 of 5

We were two families of total 8 people from Sweden that spend two weeks in this wonderful Villa. The Villa itself is very well planned and have all the belongings you need for a good holiday. From the pool area, kitchen, bedrooms and BBQ (perfect to sit with a Raki, look when the food getting ready and enjoy the surroundings).

The house are located at the back of the village Orhaniye, perfect for those who wants to have a peaceful holiday. Very few cars passed by the Villa but don’t miss when the local people drive pass and wants to sell i.e. fish and melons. There is a lot of wonderful beaches in the area that you easily can reach by car, the beach in Orhaniye is ok in the morning and evening but too occupied by i.e. Jeep Safaris from Marmaris during the days. We also recommend that you rent a private boat from Selimiye for a day (Gary will help you ), difficult to have a better day that we had those two day’s we were out with the boat.

Thank you Gary for your hospitality and all the tips during our holiday!

Absolute Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Villa Han is truly a little hidden gem. In a village that in some ways is still about 80 years behind and where you can still experience the beauty and magic of Turkey and its people.

Our daily morning walk around the village was an experience not to be missed, with friendly smiling locals and the children eager to practise their English it is a great way to start your day.

The attention to detail in the villa is amazing, down to the lighting around the pool and veranda, the candles dotted around for the evening ambience to the gardens full of magical aroma's and colour. The villa itself is immaculate, fresh and full of character.

With plenty to do around the area a car is a must, however our daughters found travelling to Marmaris to their shopping via the local bus very easy as only a 30 minute ride.

I cannot thank Gary and his wife enough for giving us a special holiday to remember and look forward to coming back next year.

The only downside was that we had to leave.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. When we built Villa Han as a holiday home, we could only dream that families would enjoy themselves so much and feel at home in the villa. Your descriptions make all the hard work worthwhile! Should you all return next year, then you'll be paying us the ultimate compliment, thank you.

A Perfect Break

  • 5 of 5

I rented Villa Han for 6 nights in June to share with 3 girl friends while our men were sailing. We were all delighted to stay in such a lovely villa in the hills behind Orhanije. The villa is very spacious and all the bedrooms have their own bathrooms.Everything is provided and it feels like a home. The outside area and pool are lovely so we were happy to stay around the pool and venture out to eat each evening. Plenty of restaurants in the area but you do need a car. Gary and his wife couldn't have been more helpful. Hope to return.

Lovely villa, idyllic setting

  • 4 of 5

Spent a wonderful week at Villa Han, relaxing and acclimatising ahead of a week's flotilla holiday. Gary made us feel very welcome and the villa very quickly felt like home. Great quality furnishings and decor throughout. Good amount of shade both on the veranda and around the pool to retire from the sun when needed. Kids loved the pool, as well as the wi-fi. Lovely restaurants in Orhaniye as well as nearby Selimiye, Borzburun etc. Best aspect however for us was the idyllic setting, being located at the top end of Orhaniye village, surrounded by villagers' farms. Very rural and very peaceful!

Location

From the Owner

We decided to buy some land and build. Orhaniye is very authentic and rural Turkish village, but only 25 minutes from the bright lights of Marmaris.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Dalaman Airport at 117 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : at 2.4 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : at 2.4 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Kizkumu at 2.4 Kilometres Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

The beach area is 2.4kms from the villa - a comfortable ride down on the bicycles provided. This is also where the main part of the village is located with seaside and Marina restaurants etc.

Kizkumu Beach is famous for it's submerged sand bar that allows people to walk far out into Orhaniye Bay. Remains of the Bybassos Castle are located on the island in the middle of the bay. Water sports are available here also.

Travel:

Nearest airport is Dalaman, which is just under 2 hours drive away.

We have 4 bicycles at the villa (free of charge), so if you like to lounge around the villa a lot, a hire care would not be essential.

However, it is recommended if you intend to visit other villages, historical ruins, and other places of interest.

Distances:

Orhaniye Village Centre 2.4km

Beach 2.4km

Restaurants and shops 2.4km

Marmaris 25 mins

Selimiye Village 20 mins

Turgut Village 10 mins

Further Details:

We always recommend our guests to do their first big shop in Marmaris, at KIPA (part of Tescos) on your way to the villa. After that, daily requirements can be purchased from the village shops, which are well stocked.

Orhaniye has a number of seaside restaurants ranging from simple home cooked Turkish food, to more cosmopolitan cuisine served in the Marina area.

Orhaniye market is held every Saturday in the grounds of the local Muhtar (Village Mayor). Here you can buy fruit & vegetables, olive oil, cheeses, dry goods, clothes and all manner of DIY and gardening tools!

You must try the village honey, fresh cows milk and eggs from our cleaner Hatice (organic and all from her own animals).

The nearest cash machine, is over the hill towards Turgut, along the driveway to Angels Peninsula Hotel - about 5-7 minute drive from Villa Han.

Notes:

  • Outside: The gardens and pool area are fully landscaped. When we built the villa, we focused on keeping the established trees which include Fig, Walnut and Pomegranate. As you walk down from the covered terrace to the pool area a wonderful mountain/pine forest vista looks down on the villa. A hand crafted stone and brick barbecue is all yours to use during your stay. The pool is 35m2, kidney shaped and 1.65 metres in depth. Half of the pool steps are always in the shade which is great for the kids. The pool is for the exclusive use of Villa Han guests. There are 8 new wooden sunbeds and plenty of sunbathing space poolside. This area gets full sun until past 7pm during the summer. The outside covered terrace is over 40m2 and has an outdoor table seating 8 and a chill out area with super comfortable couches. The terrace is a great place to watch the sunset every evening. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bathroom towels, bed linens and pool towels are included and are changed mid-stay. Price also includes our housekeeper Hatice, who will visit the house daily for a light clean (1/1.5 hours). The pool is cleaned every 2nd day. Enjoy your holiday!
